Those freeway-style overpasses you saw in Sequim were put there only about 10 years ago. The old surface intersections had a serious problem with t-bone accidents and such back in the day.
It's been a while seeing US 101 as a 4 lane divided highway. & even with the rain shadow created by the mountains, those areas still get enough rain to remain green- rather than be semi-arid. & soon we'll be at it's Northern end. Can't wait to finish out this journey on the 101.
You took the bypass around downtown Sequim. Until 1999, US101 used to run right through downtown on Washington St and would get really clogged up on weekends. I can't imagine how bad it would be today.
Good video, Kyle. If you’ve never taken the ferry from Port Angeles, WA to Victoria, BC, I recommend it. Victoria gives a European vibe. Vancouver Island is stunning as well and there’s ferry service to Vancouver, BC from there.
I'm from a Filipino family, but one of my relatives lives in Victoria, BC. Good thing her home city has a ferry to Port Angeles, WA. Not only that, her home seaport also has ferry routes to Seattle and Vancouver, making Victoria, BC a ferry hub in the Pacific Northwest. I wonder if she visited Port Angeles, WA before.
There's a surprising amount of traffic for a place so remote. Any particular reason? I kept watching that van towing the boat. You couldn't seem to get ahead of him, and I feared that you would get stuck behind him, when the road narrowed back to 2 lanes. But, luckily, he turned-off.
It was filmed in late June. Typically gorgeous weather, perfect time to visit the Seattle area. That includes the Olympic Peninsula, which has great scenery in several biomes, including a temperate rain forest, and a national park which means some very nice camping and hiking available. Basically, a lot of those were probably tourists out to see the sights.
Can't believe they would put a "sharrow" on US-101. You bet absolutely no one will bike on there and will use the sidewalks instead. Traffic engineers, man...
Good choice of music.

I thought they'd been there longer than that.
