    How much weight have you tested this with? I am switching my setup from the Buff Dudes to yours, I appreciate the ability to fold it up. My only concern is that the hinges would allow lateral movement, any issues with this?

      Hey man thanks for the comment I loaded all the weight I had in the garage as a test. So far I only have 390 lbs. I hope I can get more weight soon and test a higher weight. I hope that helps!

      @@GWDadventures it does. I built the "Buff Dudes Power Rack" back in March and ran into some issues with the design. Your design seems to resolve a lot of their issues. I will let you know how it goes. Appreciate your video, one of the better presenters I have come across when it comes to DIY. Also, being a vet myself, loved your chest rig.

    That’s so cool! My Fall project this year is to clean out my messy garage and make a gym space for myself as well.

    You can get a professional foldable rack for close to $500 , I like your idea ( don’t get me wrong) but I think you spent a lot of money on it.

  • @amen_ra6926

    Wait what? $470? Is that right? You can get steel foldable racks for about the same price from Rogue and PRX Performance. Now granted, a diy design can be tailored for the space and there's a something to be said for that. Not all pre-made units will work in all garages. That makes a strong argument the diy type. But I would have thought it would have been in the low $300s or less. It is some good craftsmanship though.

      I actually made an accounting mistake. Total was 287 for the foldable squat rack and squat platform. Also I believe the rouge and PRX is on back order lol

    Building a gym, just like that. Wow!
    How do you know how to do this?
    The other day I put wood on my back wall. I had to cut and measure, I was completely out of my comfort zone. Luckily a friend of mine was there to guide me through it.
    You are excellent at this. Please make more videos like this. Its very helpful.
    I want to attempt this but I might break the house down. Thanks for sharing this. It looks good 👍

    Nice 🔥... how has it been holding up so far and what improvements would you make if you were to make it again?

    • @GWDadventures
      @GWDadventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s been holding up great! Honestly the only change I would make is to find different hinges that are black and use bolts instead of screws. Other than that just did a killer workout on it with my brother in law!

    Hey bud, i'm trying to find what type of wood i can use as a stringer and came across your vid. Nice work! Anyway, would you know which wood is better for a stringer? a douglas fir or spruce pine fir? Thanks!

    • @GWDadventures
      @GWDadventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey man, thanks for stopping by and hitting that magic button! Anyways can you please fill me in where it’s going to be used? Example basement, outside or interior house steps?

    • @peekeesh
      @peekeesh 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GWDadventures i'm trying to install a foldable prx rack in the garage and one of the studs is out of place. I was informed i need a stringer board but am not sure what type of wood.

    • @GWDadventures
      @GWDadventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      peekeesh Wood grain denotes stability. If grain lines are straight and close together, wood is strong and stable. Fir has tight, close grain lines. Pine has broad grain lines that wander, making it far weaker than fir. The soft wood between the grain lines shrinks and expands, making the wood cup or twist. Fir has little soft grain. Pine has much more soft grain. For stability and strength, fir is much less prone to warping or twisting, and much stronger than pine.
