  • I am asked how I make my fused glass art. This is just a basic technique on how to creat a dichroic pendant.
    Check out our sites and my other videos and my blog for more information about fused glass.

      Maria, it’s difficult because it’s in a kiln but as I mentioned after cutting it you stack the color on top of the black or put the clear on top of the dichroic glass and put it in the kiln. If you have any questions just email me and I’ll help you out.

    I'm not sure what you mean by tear. But I typically make a square or rectangle contour fuse then draw a shape on then cut it, then fire polish it. It's a lot of steps but I like the way it looks. If you want a more rounded edge after cutting it you can contour fuse again. Karen

    it's a beetle bits cutting system, similar to Morton's just a lot easier. if you have the Morton's system beetle bits will fit on it.

    Hi! Any recommendations for polishing my fused glass? When I pull it from the kiln it’s a bit hazy until I add water. Once the water dries it’s hazy again..

      How was it first fused? Did you use a grinder or saw? Some glass devits easily. What COE is the glass?

    Hi Karen, Did you only fire polish the two pieces together and not full fuse when you did the dichro without the cap?

    Do I have to use black glass as a base or can I use any colour say red or purple.

      You can use any color but if the dichroic is black back then black makes sense.

    Thanks a bunch… you don’t have problems with bubbles when you cap the textured dichro? 🐢

      No I just use a long bubble squeeze. Plus little champagne bubbles don’t bother me. 😃

    My dichroic never quite stays, it always tears, why?

    Do you have any videos on how to cut the glass (after using the stencil) and how to use the grinder? Thanks!

    • @KarenFerrantelli
      @KarenFerrantelli  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      thebaileyskid Sorry no, I just use a saw with a diamond blade, then the grinder.

    Great video but can you tell me what kind of clear glass you use? Is it Dichroic glass or just plain window pane glass.

      Please know that you can not use plain window glass. If you go to Pacific Art Glass for example make sure that you ask for the same COE as the Dichroic you are going to apply to your pendant. I like to use COE 96 clear glass & COE 96 for the Dichroic. If you prefer to use COE 90 then make sure you use COE 90 for all 3 pieces the bottom black piece, the middle Dichroic piece and the top clear piece. I hope this helps you. I'm not a teacher I just know that little bit of information. If you mix COE 96 and COE 90 eventually they will crack because they are not compatible with each other.

    how/when do you add the metal that you use to hang the pendant?

    • @KarenFerrantelli
      @KarenFerrantelli  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Janet you can either drill it with a diamond bit and a dremel and use a pinch bail or you can glue a bail on the back with a strong epoxy (e.g., E6000)

    What is fire polish?

    • @KarenFerrantelli
      @KarenFerrantelli  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lynda Daggy fire polish is when you want the edges shiny but not rounded. It keeps the texture which I love.

    • @lyndadaggy2670
      @lyndadaggy2670 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fire Polish is putting the piece back in the kiln for how long to make the edges smooth?

    • @KarenFerrantelli
      @KarenFerrantelli  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lynda Daggy i depends on your kiln and the temp, I like 1315 for 20 minutes
