this helped so much, not just for cleric but in general how the game works. I have like 40 hours in the game but there is so much i dont understand, im just winging it
She's the only genuine waifu in the game. Laezel and karlach have too much dommy mommy energy with karlach acting like a boisterous man. Shadowheart is bound to be the romantic interest of most male players. She needs a firm hand to guide her in her decisions.
@@mistakai4226 She doesn't need a firm hand... she needs someone that listens and respects her. She does not like if you are pushy with her, she out right says that if you you try and sway her. She won't want to start a romance if you've been too pushy. She says something like, respect my religious belives and need for privacy. My goody twoshoes paladin got rebuffed hard by shadow. If you just listen to her and let her make her own conclusions she'll revoke Shar on her own with no persuasion check. But yeah guess you didn't know that because you are the "firm hand"
@JDG7724 dealing with laezel is like competing with a male for some sort of alpha position in a pack. Dealing with karlach is like chilling with a bro. Dealing with shadowheart is like handling the emotional waves of my wife. I love women, and I can recognize when a character has been written as one.
It's pretty clear why it was the least picked class. Shadowheart is a cleric and there doesn't really need to be two in a group. You can have two, it'll make act 2 a breeze but most know that shadowheart covers cleric so they pick something else. That being said I have a cleric/sorc build i'm running and it's been fun.
@JDG7724 tbh Astarion is truly insufferable and very hard to please for a good playthrough which is why I respecced Shadow into rogue/cleric and basically never have Astarion with me
@JDG7724 Astarion can be annoying for some, but more likely what skews the class choice numbers is just how valuable a few levels dip into rogue can be. Seems like a more popular multi-class option
I'm not gonna have shadowheart in my game, I would rather NOT use the meta and instead have my party consist of me (devotion/vengeance Paladin-tempest cleric hybrid), karlach (eldrich knight fighter-draconic bloodline sorcerer hybrid), halsin (circle of land swamp druid-beast master ranger hybrid) and hireling sina'zith (way of shadow monk-assassin rogue hybrid) and il make each character look like each of the four primary colors (because it's neat 'n cool) me(blue),karlach(red),halsin(gren),sina'zith(yellow)
My first playthrough i made a cleric. I made it a war cleric and in end game I was quite a beast and that was without guides or anything. It made me fall in love with the class, they're very nice for my style of playing.

tempest domain cleric with a storm sorcerer is actually a build seen in the latter half of dimension 20’s a crown of candy season and the player Emily does a really good job of showing off how insane that build is
just a heads up: tempest domain gets both martial weapons and heavy armor. and they have thunderwave as a domain spell. so I'd say theay are more geared towards being a closerange magic damage dealer, seeing as thunderwave and destruction wave are their main damage abilites. bonus points for a very fun lategame weapon they can use to great effect XD
tempest is for sure the better cleric for damage but they don't get charges for the extra attack like War does. I think if tempest is A tier than war is B due to alot of times those bonus actions can be wasted on cleric outside of healing word/sanct etc. so to be able to have somewhere for them to go is nice. either way cleric is just so fun and you can go a million ways
ShadowHeart is great! She was a core element of my party, the 'Spirit Guardians' spell is really good. Unfortunately I had to fight and kill her for RP reasons, my heart was broken (I had a romance with her :'/ )
I can't speak for anyone else but Cleric is awesome and it was this game in EA that made realize Cleric is *not* a "healbot". The ONLY reason I didn't do a Cleric is because of Shadowheart and she seems pretty popular, so perhaps that is why her class was less chosen. Playing an actual DnD campaign as a tempest cleric and he's pretty strong even early on with the reaction to deal thunder/lightning damage.
Cleric has always been my favorite D&D class; rolled one for my character first playthrough. Not as flashy as Wizard, and can't slice and dice like a Fighter, but absolutely pwns undead. His tools aren't always necessary, but when they are, they completely annihilate.
Something I've been playing around with is Tempest Cleric with 1 Lvl Storm Sorcerer and 2 Lvls Wizard Evocation as the majority of Lightning and thunder spells are evocation with this set up the don't harm your allies when you cast AoE's (As all 3 Classes are full spell casters it dosn't slow down spell slot progression but you lose access to 6th lvl cleric spells but will be able to leran 6th lvl wizard spells)
Cleric is the least picked probably cause: 1. If you have a cleric in the team you're likely want them to be a Bless+heal bot 2. They aren't as good at dishing out damage as a martial or full caster class post level 5. 3. They suck at initiative rolls. This game heavily favors a strong alpha strike, either by multiattack or aoe. Preferably with high initiative. Clerics almost always roll at the end of the turn while fighters with 6-8 multiattacks at the top. The best early game example is the Gith patrol fight, they have a high chance to out initiative you and pretty much destroy your party before you even get a turn.
I would choose Strength over Dex for Life/War/Tempest Cleric since heavy armor negates the AC bonus. Then you can rough up enemies in melee when your spell slots are drained. Cleric cantrips are awful for damage dealing.
My main is a Nature Cleric and I love it so far. Only level 5 but all i have to say is spike growth and santuary is OP. I killed every goblin in the camp starting from the big gate by casting an illusion, they gathered. I cast spike growth right at the gate and stood on the bridge. A couple died quick, i tossed a void bulb in and pulled in a bunch more and a few more died. It also pulled in and broke a wine barrel on the spikes and them I smacked them with fire and boom 3/4 are down. The couple that remained tried to walk to me and died before they made it. Even the big guy. I respecced my shadowheart to bard.
Nice nice nice. Appreciated the multiclass options segment for build idea. One thing you could do is make a note of any dnd technical terms you mention in your video and just slap a little overlay to the video when you say it to briefly explain what it is. e.g. AC. Win-win in that you dont need to explain it verbally and people that dont need an explanation wont be hindered. Save those little tips as presets, parse the audio of your video through an AI tool to generate timestamps for when you say something that corresponds to a tip being relevant. Then, parse that information into a javascript React script in Adobe Premiere or After Effects that can automatically add X overlay at Y timestamp for Z seconds. You would start by making a script that can add/remove an overlay, then one that can do so based on timestamps, then add functionality to pass the preset/prefab path and file name. Hey presto you've got a 1 or 2 click system for adding dense quality to your videos. I'm assuming you can do the scripting things with Premiere... In photoshop I can (for any number of files within a given folder(s)) batch resize, add filters, apply complex post processing, add metadata, generate 5 crop-variants of a photo, as well as place that photo in a dozen mock-up living room photo frames to see what it would look like printed - all with a single click. Took a month to figure out from never coding before.

Typically, the ability to fly after a spell (sorcerer maybe?), or being a stealthy panther with a Druid at level 6, etc. Personally, some of these can make me be willing to play that class just for it and build around it. Trickery Domain is awesome multi-classed with fighter, Shadowheart is possibly the strongest member of my party with blur, mirror image and extra attack from fighter doing high damage and has endless utility for any situation. Only 10 or 12 is Wisdom is needed since most of the powerful buffs/curses are passive so you can pump 20 into Strength and the rest into Dex/Constitution depending on gear available. Certain medium armors also give no penalty to stealth throughout the game. Bless always stays up and she can frontline with the other fighter or even replace a fighter totally having over 25 AC and outputs huge melee damage while the Wizard, Ranger or Rogue can safely sit back and nuke stuff, rarely a need for heals since there is great synergy between multiple sources of damage mitigation and high damage output.
Can Shadowheart cast blur on herself? I thought it was arcane only and I don't think it's any of the possible cleric domain spells, and in particular, I think trickery's domain spells at level 2 are mirror image and pass without trace.
@@timmietimmins3780 I got it from a ring I was mistaken, but with mirror image you can get an absurd amount of AC, mirror image is usually more than enough since this comp works best with bless or bane up but it's nice to have with scrolls or from an item incase you need it. With mirror image 34 AC. Warding bond also requires no concentration. It's a great pity that Invoke Duplicity requires concentration but if you get a bunch of enemies locked into melee range you drop it you get advantage on all attacks.

Rogue/Cleric has been a great multi-class for me. Especially going into a "Thief" kit, as they gain an extra bonus action, which Cleric has amazing bonus action spells to utilize.
Interesting. Can i get blessing as a Bonus Action this way? Cause blessing with the Stave you can get in the arcane Tower IS so fucking good. Doing it as Bonus action would be rediculous
@@FireCrack83 No, Bless uses up an action not a bonus action, even from the staff. Sanctuary, Shield of Faith, Divine Favor, and Spiritual Weapon are the bonus action spells I use for the multi-class.Thief/War Domain Cleric: Dual Wield: Main- hand attack/Sneak attack, off-hand attack, then cast protection spell if needed, or just get another bonus action attack in. Very high mobility, durability, decent reliable damage output, and plenty of skills to help outside of combat. Fun build
Been working on a Cleric myself. I MUST say that the Knowledge domain with 1-2 dip in Wizard is " on brand" and feels really good. The KD is a Sleeper skill monkey which is nice to have as your main character...then you use CC spells and a few wizard spells to round out the playstyle. If you don't want to be "gamey" and not where the headband like me. I actually bumped up my Intellect to cast some damaging spells while almost always leaving my Knowledge of the ages for Charisma proficiency
I wonder how would Trickery Domain Shadowheart multiclass with Gloomstalker? Those classes use the same ability scoring, have the same casting ability; and if you respec her into ranger at first level, she will become a potent ranged combatant with a bunch of utility and control spells.

I really like this class lots of role-play possibilities if you know about the gods of the world if you’re having problems, role-playing watch a TH-cam video about the gods you can choose from and role-play that God’s cleric. I’ve been having a lot of fun doing that.
Tried light aswell .....I still Go life cleric ....heavy Amor and with this amount of healing you cannot die. (Oh you took half of all my Partys health.....prayer of healing+mass curewounds in one round and Back to full Live with all 4 chars)
This was great! Really made me interested in how well a Tempest Cleric/Monk would do... Honestly though I would love to see a similar breakdown for Warlocks. I've had a tough time getting them to pull their weight, especially considering the abundance of supplies in the game kind of devalues short rests and warlock spell slots a bit.
With a monk + lvl 3 thief..give them the lightning charge gloves and make em a tiefling lol...I gotta try that I just dont know who i wanna get rod to pull Karlach into my party.
I have 2 life clerics built for melee tanking and buffing in my first playthrough. well, first I didn't abandon after a few hours, and I did play 250 hours of early access. my abjuration wizard out-tanks them by far, though.
I have a githyanki knowledge cleric that is just amazing. So many skills and highly mobile. And the knowledge spell list in bg3 is a big upgrade from tabletop
As tanking is not really a thing in DnD 5e, CC abelites and spells will become almost more important than raw damage. On explorer mode you can do what ever and still succeed but if you want to play on Tactician you will have to think about how you will survive the fight. On this difficulty the AI is now programed to focus attacks on your weakest character or your best damage dealer depending on what will make you loose the fight in least turns, not to mention all enemies has a +2 to all their attack rolls. So you have to build your character totally different depending on what difficulty level you play at. Or I should say character as Tactician force you to build a group of characters that can work well to gather.
Iv been debating on teaching her magic missles with a feat I have her with high int and wisdom I figure that can teach her 2 more useful cartrips but magic missles won't miss so I think could be a good way go add some easy dmg most the stuff I use on her just misses anyway and spends a slot
The main thing I don't really understand is why 17 Wisdom? I see everybody doing this so there's gotta be a reason, but as far as I know there aren't a whole lot of ways to get +1 to Wisdom. Additions to stats from gear and ASI usually come in 2's and there are no feats that explicitly add +1 to Wisdom like for many of the other stats, while options that may or may not exist as quest rewards would hypothetically get hogged by the main character. It just seems like you're losing a +1 to STR/INT/CHA for no benefit.
Unfortunately no, there aren't any half feats :( You can find some gear that brings them up that final point, but if you don't want to wait on that - you could definitely just put the +1, at creation, into Wisdom, then use your IAS to bring it to 18 and stay there. I'd then put my remainder +2 into either Con or Dex, and bring whichever one I did up to 17, with the other at 14. This would keep me going first, or having better concentration rolls for stuff. Conversely, you can distribute points down into Charisma if it's your player character and want to have better conversation rolls!
No cuz Shawdowheart can be really powerful, in one instance 2 of my 4 party members were down and one nearly down and Shawdowheart was still full health and she took on two level 7 or 8 i think by herself and saved my party.
Informative, but you're basically just telling us what our choices are... Which the game will do. Give us a couple build options with some gear to shoot for and explain the synergies. That's what I'm looking for, at least. Still enjoy your videos. Keep up the gods' work!
Some of column A, some of column B. For example, Trickery gets mirror image. Other clerics cannot cast that spell, as it's an arcane spell (and bards). So it's exclusive. But for example, life is getting spells any cleric can cast: cure wounds, bless can be cast by other domains, such as say, trickery. There are two ways to get value out of this. Either, you can get a domain spell which is valuable and you can't get elsewhere, or you could get spells that are so useful and powerful you WOULD HAVE prepared them anyways, in which case your domain spell just displaces one of your prepared slots and you can prepare literally any other spell in it's place. IMHO, the second of these effects is more important. Cleric gets so many good spells it's not the end of the world if you don't have some absolute bomb domain spell, but prepared slots are in extremely short supply, so "one more prepared spell" is VERY powerful. I think this is part of why life is so popular. Sure, you get great class features, but you also just powerful spells as your domain spells, so you have effectively way more prepared spell slots.
Can anyone confirm if a 5th level cleric gets a bonus dice to cantrips like it says in the wiki? Anyone take the feat to give you eldritch blast and see if that gives you 2D10?
@@Animedingo yep, I understand what you mean. Between the early game companions, I guess you can pick anyone and respec them - it won't change their quests. I personnally would choose Wyll and multiclass him warlock/druid, to keep the flavor of his pact with Mizora even if he later deviates to druid. Maybe he found the grove to be a cool place and nature called him! ^^ (I'm a role player, but it's your call if you want to RP or min-max ; I don't even know if this particular multiclass is effective or not).
My problem with Shadowheart is that all of her spells have a trash chance to hit. I have her at 16 Strength and 18 Wisdom so whether it is attack roll or not she really shouldn't be struggling that much to land spells.
Cleric has too many options for first playthrough. I didn't feel like looking into all of the domains in addition to deities. Definitely a second or third character.
Personally, I prefer Resilient over Warcaster most of the time. You get an extra point of con, plus advantage on all con saving throws. Not a fan of Sacred Flame at all, because of the dex save completely negating the damage. You're basically better off using some type of ranged weapon you're proficient in.
I may be fantasy racist, but I don't like how the gilyankie look haha. Otherwise, I would pick them because I think their abilities are cool. The customization for them is rather limited it feels.
Am I the only one that thinks a Cleric should be a caster, and should not be swinging a weapon all that much? Also a Cleric has to spread the word of their god and preach, even persuade people, I'd put at least 14 in charisma, at the cost of Con and/or Dex. I'd lean more into light or knowledge I think, though a life cleric could be nice, for that build. The less dex is not too bad as, you are going to heal, someone who took damage before your turn or cast more control spells. You can always get a concentration spell cast before combat starts. Also your concentration is unlikely to be broken if you keep away from battle.
Yes. You are the only one who thinks that. Clerics in D&D are inspired by groups like the hospitliters or templars. They're not priests, they're religious warriors. Priest is an NPC type in this edition and in past editions they've been represented by NPC classes such as the Adept. Remember, PC classes in D&D represent adventurers. If it's skilled or powerful but doesn't plunge head first into mortal danger on a regular basis and come out on top then it's an NPC.
@@Furluge I guess that is one more reason 5th edition is garbage. I still like caster/support heavy clerics. A paladin, barbarian, or fighter will all fight better with some good buffs on them, than a cleric. My main is a circle of the lands druid with little ability to fight, she often casts haste on Karlach and Karlach goes brrrrr. Also I don't lose concentration all that much, because I don't get hit.. I'd think that style would work well on a cleric.

Romancing Shadowheart as a Selûnite cleric is a lot of fun.

I love how easy (and cheap) it is to respec in this game. The combinations are almost endless. Larian did it right.
I actually really like Clerics. But Shadowheart kind of makes playing one as my main pointless. But Shadowheart has saved my butt so many times dude.

This game heavily favors a strong alpha strike, either by multiattack or aoe. Preferably with high initiative. Clerics almost always roll at the end of the turn while fighters with 6-8 multiattacks at the top. The best early game example is the Gith patrol fight, they have a high chance to out initiative you and pretty much destroy your party before you even get a turn.
I would choose Strength over Dex for Life/War/Tempest Cleric since heavy armor negates the AC bonus. Then you can rough up enemies in melee when your spell slots are drained. Cleric cantrips are awful for damage dealing.

My main is a Nature Cleric and I love it so far. Only level 5 but all i have to say is spike growth and santuary is OP. I killed every goblin in the camp starting from the big gate by casting an illusion, they gathered. I cast spike growth right at the gate and stood on the bridge. A couple died quick, i tossed a void bulb in and pulled in a bunch more and a few more died. It also pulled in and broke a wine barrel on the spikes and them I smacked them with fire and boom 3/4 are down. The couple that remained tried to walk to me and died before they made it. Even the big guy.
I respecced my shadowheart to bard.

Nice nice nice. Appreciated the multiclass options segment for build idea. One thing you could do is make a note of any dnd technical terms you mention in your video and just slap a little overlay to the video when you say it to briefly explain what it is. e.g. AC. Win-win in that you dont need to explain it verbally and people that dont need an explanation wont be hindered.
Save those little tips as presets, parse the audio of your video through an AI tool to generate timestamps for when you say something that corresponds to a tip being relevant.
Then, parse that information into a javascript React script in Adobe Premiere or After Effects that can automatically add X overlay at Y timestamp for Z seconds. You would start by making a script that can add/remove an overlay, then one that can do so based on timestamps, then add functionality to pass the preset/prefab path and file name.
Hey presto you've got a 1 or 2 click system for adding dense quality to your videos.
I'm assuming you can do the scripting things with Premiere... In photoshop I can (for any number of files within a given folder(s)) batch resize, add filters, apply complex post processing, add metadata, generate 5 crop-variants of a photo, as well as place that photo in a dozen mock-up living room photo frames to see what it would look like printed - all with a single click. Took a month to figure out from never coding before.

One thing you could add is to show us the list of class abilities unlocked at higher levels, for each subclass, since that is something really missing in the game. Typically, the ability to fly after a spell (sorcerer maybe?), or being a stealthy panther with a Druid at level 6, etc. Personally, some of these can make me be willing to play that class just for it and build around it. So not knowing about it at the beginning is a bit odd to me.

Trickery Domain is awesome multi-classed with fighter, Shadowheart is possibly the strongest member of my party with blur, mirror image and extra attack from fighter doing high damage and has endless utility for any situation. Only 10 or 12 is Wisdom is needed since most of the powerful buffs/curses are passive so you can pump 20 into Strength and the rest into Dex/Constitution depending on gear available. Certain medium armors also give no penalty to stealth throughout the game. Bless always stays up and she can frontline with the other fighter or even replace a fighter totally having over 25 AC and outputs huge melee damage while the Wizard, Ranger or Rogue can safely sit back and nuke stuff, rarely a need for heals since there is great synergy between multiple sources of damage mitigation and high damage output.
Can Shadowheart cast blur on herself? I thought it was arcane only and I don't think it's any of the possible cleric domain spells, and in particular, I think trickery's domain spells at level 2 are mirror image and pass without trace.
@@timmietimmins3780 I got it from a ring I was mistaken, but with mirror image you can get an absurd amount of AC, mirror image is usually more than enough since this comp works best with bless or bane up but it's nice to have with scrolls or from an item incase you need it. With mirror image 34 AC. Warding bond also requires no concentration. It's a great pity that Invoke Duplicity requires concentration but if you get a bunch of enemies locked into melee range you drop it you get advantage on all attacks.

Rogue/Cleric has been a great multi-class for me. Especially going into a "Thief" kit, as they gain an extra bonus action, which Cleric has amazing bonus action spells to utilize.

Sanctuary, Shield of Faith, Divine Favor, and Spiritual Weapon are the bonus action spells I use for the multi-class.Thief/War Domain Cleric: Dual Wield: Main- hand attack/Sneak attack, off-hand attack, then cast protection spell if needed, or just get another bonus action attack in. Very high mobility, durability, decent reliable damage output, and plenty of skills to help outside of combat. Fun build
Been working on a Cleric myself. I MUST say that the Knowledge domain with 1-2 dip in Wizard is " on brand" and feels really good.
The KD is a Sleeper skill monkey which is nice to have as your main character...then you use CC spells and a few wizard spells to round out the playstyle.
If you don't want to be "gamey" and not where the headband like me. I actually bumped up my Intellect to cast some damaging spells while almost always leaving my Knowledge of the ages for Charisma proficiency
I wonder how would Trickery Domain Shadowheart multiclass with Gloomstalker? Those classes use the same ability scoring, have the same casting ability; and if you respec her into ranger at first level, she will become a potent ranged combatant with a bunch of utility and control spells.
Finally decided to play a Monk/Cleric: Way of Shadow + Tempest/Knowledge. Thats the last piece I'm still deciding on.

Change her to Light ASAP. Way more versatile in combat than Trickery. Fantastic domain spells and the flare/improved flare are awesome reactions.

Tried light aswell .....I still Go life cleric ....heavy Amor and with this amount of healing you cannot die. (Oh you took half of all my Partys health.....prayer of healing+mass curewounds in one round and Back to full Live with all 4 chars)

Honestly though I would love to see a similar breakdown for Warlocks. I've had a tough time getting them to pull their weight, especially considering the abundance of supplies in the game kind of devalues short rests and warlock spell slots a bit.

I have 2 life clerics built for melee tanking and buffing in my first playthrough. well, first I didn't abandon after a few hours, and I did play 250 hours of early access.

I have a githyanki knowledge cleric that is just amazing. So many skills and highly mobile. And the knowledge spell list in bg3 is a big upgrade from tabletop
As tanking is not really a thing in DnD 5e, CC abelites and spells will become almost more important than raw damage. On explorer mode you can do what ever and still succeed but if you want to play on Tactician you will have to think about how you will survive the fight. On this difficulty the AI is now programed to focus attacks on your weakest character or your best damage dealer depending on what will make you loose the fight in least turns, not to mention all enemies has a +2 to all their attack rolls. So you have to build your character totally different depending on what difficulty level you play at. Or I should say character as Tactician force you to build a group of characters that can work well to gather.

First thing is to spec out of trickery domain
The main thing I don't really understand is why 17 Wisdom? I see everybody doing this so there's gotta be a reason, but as far as I know there aren't a whole lot of ways to get +1 to Wisdom. Additions to stats from gear and ASI usually come in 2's and there are no feats that explicitly add +1 to Wisdom like for many of the other stats, while options that may or may not exist as quest rewards would hypothetically get hogged by the main character. It just seems like you're losing a +1 to STR/INT/CHA for no benefit.
Unfortunately no, there aren't any half feats :(
You can find some gear that brings them up that final point, but if you don't want to wait on that - you could definitely just put the +1, at creation, into Wisdom, then use your IAS to bring it to 18 and stay there. I'd then put my remainder +2 into either Con or Dex, and bring whichever one I did up to 17, with the other at 14. This would keep me going first, or having better concentration rolls for stuff. Conversely, you can distribute points down into Charisma if it's your player character and want to have better conversation rolls!

No cuz Shawdowheart can be really powerful, in one instance 2 of my 4 party members were down and one nearly down and Shawdowheart was still full health and she took on two level 7 or 8 i think by herself and saved my party.
Informative, but you're basically just telling us what our choices are... Which the game will do. Give us a couple build options with some gear to shoot for and explain the synergies. That's what I'm looking for, at least. Still enjoy your videos. Keep up the gods' work!
I struggle picking Cleric for the same reason I struggle picking Paladin. To much “Deus vult” flavor for me.
So question, are domain spells exclusive to that subclass or is that the case only some of the time?
Some of column A, some of column B. For example, Trickery gets mirror image. Other clerics cannot cast that spell, as it's an arcane spell (and bards). So it's exclusive. But for example, life is getting spells any cleric can cast: cure wounds, bless can be cast by other domains, such as say, trickery.
There are two ways to get value out of this. Either, you can get a domain spell which is valuable and you can't get elsewhere, or you could get spells that are so useful and powerful you WOULD HAVE prepared them anyways, in which case your domain spell just displaces one of your prepared slots and you can prepare literally any other spell in it's place.
IMHO, the second of these effects is more important. Cleric gets so many good spells it's not the end of the world if you don't have some absolute bomb domain spell, but prepared slots are in extremely short supply, so "one more prepared spell" is VERY powerful.
I think this is part of why life is so popular. Sure, you get great class features, but you also just powerful spells as your domain spells, so you have effectively way more prepared spell slots.
Btw shadow heart with war caster feat and radiant spirit defenders casted at level 5 is just broken

Between the early game companions, I guess you can pick anyone and respec them - it won't change their quests. I personnally would choose Wyll and multiclass him warlock/druid, to keep the flavor of his pact with Mizora even if he later deviates to druid. Maybe he found the grove to be a cool place and nature called him! ^^ (I'm a role player, but it's your call if you want to RP or min-max ; I don't even know if this particular multiclass is effective or not).

My problem with Shadowheart is that all of her spells have a trash chance to hit. I have her at 16 Strength and 18 Wisdom so whether it is attack roll or not she really shouldn't be struggling that much to land spells.
Why 17 wis instead of 18 or 16?
Cleric has too many options for first playthrough. I didn't feel like looking into all of the domains in addition to deities. Definitely a second or third character.
Personally, I prefer Resilient over Warcaster most of the time. You get an extra point of con, plus advantage on all con saving throws.
Not a fan of Sacred Flame at all, because of the dex save completely negating the damage. You're basically better off using some type of ranged weapon you're proficient in.

Am I the only one that thinks a Cleric should be a caster, and should not be swinging a weapon all that much? Also a Cleric has to spread the word of their god and preach, even persuade people, I'd put at least 14 in charisma, at the cost of Con and/or Dex. I'd lean more into light or knowledge I think, though a life cleric could be nice, for that build. The less dex is not too bad as, you are going to heal, someone who took damage before your turn or cast more control spells. You can always get a concentration spell cast before combat starts. Also your concentration is unlikely to be broken if you keep away from battle.
Yes. You are the only one who thinks that. Clerics in D&D are inspired by groups like the hospitliters or templars. They're not priests, they're religious warriors. Priest is an NPC type in this edition and in past editions they've been represented by NPC classes such as the Adept.
Remember, PC classes in D&D represent adventurers. If it's skilled or powerful but doesn't plunge head first into mortal danger on a regular basis and come out on top then it's an NPC.
@@Furluge I guess that is one more reason 5th edition is garbage. I still like caster/support heavy clerics. A paladin, barbarian, or fighter will all fight better with some good buffs on them, than a cleric.
My main is a circle of the lands druid with little ability to fight, she often casts haste on Karlach and Karlach goes brrrrr. Also I don't lose concentration all that much, because I don't get hit.. I'd think that style would work well on a cleric.
