- In this episode, we take you on a tour of the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, Sicily! Founded as a Greek colony in the 5th century B.C, Agrigento became one of the leading cities in the Mediterranean world and the 3rd largest Greek city after Athens and Syracuse! The Valle dei Templi is part of Magna Graecia, the name given by the Romans to the coastal areas of Southern Italy that were extensively populated by Greek settlers!

About Us:
When we were in our early 20’s, chasing our own dreams of living in Europe, we met one night at a pub in Florence...11 months later, we were married! Having been together for 4 years now, we have lived & worked on 3 different continents & even on a cruise ship!
We moved back to Italy to live out one of our biggest dreams - to pull off the Ultimate Italian Road Trip, traveling to all 20 regions of Italy by the end of 2022! On our driving trip to Southern Italy 3 years ago we had to limit our travels. The Valley of the Temples was one spot that we did not get to in Sicily. I have always regretted that decision but you have now shown me what we missed and I thank you for such a lovely tour. Grazie mille from Western Canada.

Ancient Greek: Ἀκράγας, romanized: Akrágas; Latin: Agrigentum or Acragas. It was one of the leading cities of Magna Graecia during the golden age of Ancient Greece with population estimates in the range of 200,000 to 800,000 before 406 BC.
A totally exaggerated figure -would have been about fifty thousand at the most .

My family is from Agrigento a small town called Ribera ….. I remember visiting the valley of the temples many times it’s stunning! Make sure you visit the Scala de turkey near bye it’s absolutely stunning

Wow! You guys rock. I love how you tell stories about my home - Sicily. If you like medieval history, I would suggest heading to Parco Delle Madonie. You can visit Petralia Soprana - a town that was named Il più bello borgo d’Italia in 2019. Castelbuono, Isnello, Geraci Siculo are very nice towns along with Collesano - town well known for the Targa Florio - historic cars racing - and the ceramic

It all started in Latin America. Chocolate's 4,000-year history began in ancient Mesoamerica, present day Mexico. It's here that the first cacao plants were found. The Olmec, one of the earliest civilizations in Latin America, were the first to turn the cacao plant into chocolate.
During the summer it's possible to do evening tours as well.
The colours of the temples and the entire valley on sunset light are gorgeous. It's worth to do.
