      @@SethirophBayonet666so you believe something that happened 50 years ago ? 😂 No one is defending him but I don’t think he did that only because they all claimed to be “drugged” I’m sure you not gonna remember what happened in details. And he also did drugs with them

    The chessboard make-out scene with the kid smiling under them made me audibly react.
    Loudly and with great disgust, fear, and confusion.

    I can't say I liked the movie, but it left an everlasting impression on me. I watched it mostly because I was a fan of Cosby's standup material. The hell imagery was the best part. The script was weak, the fashion outdated even for its time, and that one song that gets played over and over again sucks! I was in the minority back in the day in defending Cosby's understated and menacing portrayal, though. Looking back, it's the kind of performance that can only come from pure, unadulterated evil. If there is a hell, Level 4 is waiting for him.

      Totally impossible not to filter Cosby's great performance in this through recent events. You're right though - the scenes in Hell STILL hold up!

    I was wondering if Bill Cosby did anything Disney related, especially since I've found out that Disney legend Raven-Symone got her TV debut on The Cosby Show. While I'm at it, I kind of thought that Bill Cosby was in the Nickelodeon business not just because of Little Bill, but because Nickelodeon used to show reruns of old shows that Bill Cosby stared in like The Cosby Show and the original Electric Company.

    This movie predicted many of all these so called contract entertainers

    • @KasumiKenshirou
      @KasumiKenshirou ปีที่แล้ว

      It didn't really "predict" anything, as predators in the entertainment industry have been around as long as the industry itself. For example, some studio exec or producer exposed himself to Shirley Temple when she was a little kid. She was so young she didn't understand what was going on and laughed at him.

    As a kid I watched that with my mom. She certainly found it good. We watched almost all of the Disney life action movies of the 60s and 70s. Most were weak and forgetable for a 10 to 13 kid like me. But I loved a few for many years: "That Darn Cat" with Roddy McDowell, "Three Lives of Thomasina", '75's "Escape to Witch Mountain", "Million Dollar Duck" the "Benji" films, 63's "The Incredible Journey" and many of these nature "documentaries" that meanwhile turned out to have been scripted reality flicks - with the difference that the "actors'' couldn’t read their contracts and had to do all the stunts by themselves that often ended in death. Thank goodness I had no idea about that as a child 😬😱💔

  • @jazzinrascal
    @jazzinrascal ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I was born in the seventies so I remember all these 80s Disney flicks from seeing them on rental videocassettes back in the day. Most of them were fairly average. I remember being bored by this one - the girl singer's "hit" song really got on my nerves. Not one of Marvin Hamlisch's best tunes! The old demon dude in the big chair in the hell scene is played by Reggie Nalder - he played the vampire in Salem's Lot which came out around that time.
    All the same it's good to see someone covering this era of the Disney studio. I just came across this channel and am enjoying the content. The Condorman episode brought back memories - I still have an ancient betamax video somewhere of that one! Looking forward to your future vids!

    I've always liked this movie. I was in high school working in a movie theater when it was released. I watched it several times (gotta love the second showing), and it really stood out from the rest. I'd see it from time to time over the years, and I appreciated it more over the years. It was a refreshing change from the cloying persona Bill Cosby had cultivated by that time (I truly hated the Jello Pudding Pops ads, seriously, ugh). I never really took to him, but I think this is one of his best performances. It probably wasn't their intention, but it's a nice addition to the dark comedy genre. I think Julie Budd should have been a bigger star, but the ubiquitous comparisons to Barbra Streisand at the beginning of her career may have ultimately worked against her. The controversy about its content ultimately led Disney to form both Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures as avenues for distribution of more mature content. Great video, thanks for bringing this movie to light.

    "I wanted to do this role that would normally be cast with a white actor."
    Yeah, because most studios would interpret Satan as a black guy to be kinda racist. Reminds me of when the NAACP were upset that not enough black actors were in Planet of the Apes (yes, seriously).

    I wish people would stop listening to Hollywood and the Media for information on Cosby. Another thing: I think it's interesting how so many people who were so vocal and outspoken against him, ended up getting their karma. The latest one is Tom Scocca, a former Gawker journalist, who helped launch his downfall. He recently came down with an autoimmune disease.
