You saved my life when i had Covid. Slowly on the mend. But thank you for the only thing that gave me a decent nights sleep. You are a pandemic angel 😇 💖
Thank you for the kind words Mindy. Hope you’re feeling better, wishing you a speedy recovery. Cheers.
I'm going through the same
Hahaha you had the common cold 2.0 aka c o vid
I make a drink I call The Everything Toddy. I use:
Hot tea
Honey
Lime juice
Cinnamon
Ginger juice
Hot sauce
and Rum
I drink these, whenever I have a cold. I feel like it covers all the bases.
I do everything except hot sauce xD
Hot sauce would help decongestion
@@ElvizNation Was going to say you Mr. Ghoulie lost me at the hot sauce. I suppose would have to try first...though?
Something about this guy's methods is just so dang soothing, seems like a fun person to chill with.
He’s quite amazing.
By far the best hot toddy video on youtube! Glad to have your videos in these crazy times.
Glad my crazy videos can entertain you. Stay safe and healthy. Cheers!
My dad was born in 1922 and made hot toddy for colds. Not sure if or how much alcohol was in them. I do remember cut up lemons, onions, and honey. Tasted pucker bitter, but worked.
I’d have to guess there was some alcohol for sure. Ha
I love how you bring history into the mix
There is so much cocktail history out there it’d be a crime not to share it. Thanks for tuning in, Cheers
I want to go to his bar. He’s like an old fashion bar tender.. charming!
😜
Best cocktail Sensei ever! Sensei=respected teacher
Thank you! I try.
Thanks Bruce! Im still sick today for new years eve. So this will let me celebrate and party at the same time lol
Hope you’re feeling better!
Needed one of these after shoveling too much snow to help relax the back muscles. THanks!
Preaching to the choir!
Ha! My first time making a hot toddy ! I winged it and great !! I used everything he mentioned !!
Before I saw his video !!
Love channeling my past ancestors ❤️
Glad you gave it a go! Cheers
I really enjoy watching your channel. From one bartender to another, I truly wish I could work for you. Keep it up sir😊
This totally cured me! Thank you! Dr!
Yes Rum! I do my toddy with rum. Besides ginger I add cloves too (for my throat) & I throw in half a cinnamon stick in the boiled water (with a bag of decaf green tea to steep). If I didn't have a cold rn I would still want to drink this. I make enough for 2 mugs too. In case a reins is also ill
Thanks for tuning in!
I can't wait to make this. Thank you
Hope you gave it a go!
This is a good channel, should have way more subs
I'm loving your recipes! This I will do

+David Lemonds Thanks David! I work with amazing talent. It's a lot of hard work but we have a blast doing it. Cheers man!
Man that is the good stuff right there !..thank you amigo.
Thanks for tuning in!
I got a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell.....err......hot toddy!!!
+Terry Blackmore Haha that's awesome. Maybe I should incorporate some cowbell into the show. And I could always invite Jimmy Fallon on to co-host and break out laughing at inappropriate times. I think I'm onto something here. 😁
Oh man did I need this tonight. I just whipped one up and can't wait to sip on it!
Corona doesn't stand a chance
Love seeing your videos! As a viewer I can tell a lot of work goes into it. Love the history about this drink!
+Kathryn Pryor Thanks Kathryn! It is a lot of work! The crew and I have a lot of fun doing this, it's a great gig. Thanks for the support and keep tuning in, cheers!
I'm suprisingly in need of this, thanks!
+Gordon Frohman You're welcome Gordon! Hope ya feel better soon and thanks for watching! Cheers!
Just made it with jack daniels ,all that I had.
OMG! just made this and soothed my throat right away and stopped this nagging cough that i have had for 6 days.. I should have thought of this sooner,I have really been sick😇
Hope you’re feeling better!
I usually just drink some whiskey and it helps, also a good lemon tea as well. Never thought of adding both together 🤔
Did you give it a try?
@@BarTalkCocktails yes I did! The truth is that the next morning I was feeling better, but I might have done something wrong 😅 because it tasted awful, but it helped so yeah
It must be an acquired taste. I love the stuff 😋
I appreciate thuis recipe.
Thanks for watching
Like a great drink when im sick..
I'm sick and researched the drink...I'm going to make one now it sure can't make me feel any worse. I remember when I was young and sick my grandmother would mix up honey and whisky and it used to help and I slept so good...I remember faking a cough a few times I liked it so much lol maybe why I love the taste of whisky now. Doing it...gonna use lemon ginger tea honey cinnamon and of course a shot or 2 of Jim
Hope it worked for ya!
Just what the doctor ordered!
I just did one for my friend's sister. I used cockspur hot water lemon brown sugar and honey. After 2 she started bringing up all the flem. Works every time
Sounds delightful. It’s definitely my go to drink when I’m under the weather.
Thanks for watching, cheers!
A Gin Hot Toddy with Bombay sounds in order
The Bob Ross of bar tending.
I get that all the time. I’m just gonna put a little cocktail over here. Ha! Cheers.
I like the ginger idea. Thanks "Doctor" Bruce. I'll be trying one this week as I do have a cold at the moment.
Feel better!
Thank you Buddy- ever done an old drink called a Hot Spiced Rum or a Hot buttered Rum ? If so were they any good at all ?
Hey Chris! As a matter of fact we have done a Hot Buttered rum. We did it for Christmas a few years back. It was actually Harry Yee's recipe. (The guy who invented the Blue Hawaii) Harry's daughter sent me the recipe. You can check it out here. It was pretty good!

Great channel and great energy ! Subbed
Thanks for watching and subscribing! Cheers!
made Me feel much better after a few days with the flu 💥💥💥💥🥰🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Amazing
I have two Hot Toddy recipes.
The first one begins with 2 oz Crown Royal whiskey, one tablespoon of honey, 1 oz fresh squeezed orange juice, topped with enough boiling water to fill the remainder of my pre warmed14 ounce coffee cup. The second recipe begins with 2 oz of Slivovitz (plum brandy), 1 tbsp of honey, 1 oz fresh squeezed orange juice, topped with enough boiling water to fill the remainder of my pre warmed 14 oz coffee cup. The liquor in this recipe is usually Bistra Slivovitz from Serbia (100 proof).
Both recipes sound great, especially the one with whiskey. I may just have to make one 'cause I'm a little under the weather right now. Thanks for the recipes. Cheers!
@@BarTalkCocktails Your welcome. I don't know how easy it is to find slivovitz in your area. I only know of two stores and one restaurant/bar owned by a Serbian couple where is is available. The price in the state of Ohio is about twenty-two dollars for a fifth.
So glad I found this video, my 5 year old has a nasty cold! ;-)
Dr. Bruce would have to advise against that for legal reasons. Ha! Thanks for watching, cheers!
Child abuse
Enjoying a scotch hot toddy with some bedtime tea and apple cider, doesn’t need as much honey but otherwise the same recipe. Yum!
Sounds delightful!
This is the Bob Ross of alcohol 🤣🤣
I get that all time time. I’ve also been called the Mr.Rogers of Bartending. It’s an honour either way. Ha.
I will try this now. Thank you
You’re welcome, thanks for tuning in.
You are a great video editor.
I have my videographer/editor to thank. He makes me look good. And as a bonus he’s also my nephew. And his fiancé is a co-producer. It’s a family show. Ha!
This is beautiful THANK YOU
I made this just as you made it but with honey whiskey *** so delicious
Could brew anything up with the right ingredients, but I would use top grade Manuka Honey in the mix.
Can’t go wrong!
He could've poured some hot water into the cup with the ginger, swirled it, & just dumped it back into the pot of hot water.
I have had 3 week lingering cough! Hopefully this helps!
Did you try it?
@@BarTalkCocktails yep, within 3 to 4 days my cough went away!
Oh Man, I've tried this mixture by prefering Jagermeister rather than brandy... It's perfect but I have to find a way to get my bed, you know... :)
🥴 ha
Felt better ✌🏻
I have a head cold , shivers and achy mussels right now, I'll try it tonight, thanks/
j drex did it work ?
@@soshsantiago7317 no, and tasted terrible
i made 2 used bourbon don't have any brandy i also used some spicy honey
Sounds great!
Why you gotta heat up a cup that is going to have hot water poured in to it anyway?
It’ll stay hotter for longer with a heated glass. Thanks for tuning in, cheers!
Does anyone else think Dr. Toddy sounds like Michael Douglas....
Thanks for the recipe 🤧☕🤤😀👍
Thanks for tuning in!
Would love to sit and have a cold one with you Bruce!
Maybe one day!
have a runny nose 👃 🤧 feel like I can make it and sleep like a baby 😂 thank you, doctor ❤
Thank you. 🤣
You’re welcome 😊
Nice Mr toddy
My grandmothers drink for a cold was hot tea, honey, lemon, with a shot of whiskey. I always make me one when I’m feeling sick. I sure feel sick….. a lot. In fact I think I’m running a fever now.
I think I’m coming down with something myself... ha!
Went to two bars today neither could make a hot toddy was disappointed
D’oh! That’s a bummer
I am sick and would try this if I had the things to make this
awesome thanks
Thanks for tuning in. Cheers
Sir I want to make some mocktail for mocktail competition please suggest me some
Mocktails, just like cocktails require experimentation so that flavours will play off one another in a unique way. When creating your mocktail, think flavour pairings. For example, bananas pair well with chocolate, cinnamon, blueberry, vanilla and even ginger. Oranges go great with chocolate, mint, pineapple, and rosemary. You get the idea. I've always loved the combination of fresh grapefruit juice and cinnamon syrup - one of Don Beach's secret mixes. Take a look at the many syrups I've made on my show. They are well thought out and taste amazing. Perhaps start by using one of those as a base. Good Luck with the competition. Cheers!
@@BarTalkCocktails thank you sir I have watched all your videos that why I was confused can you link me one on the best mocktail you have ever made
Morning or night???
You can have it in the morning, my preference is at night.
FINALLY..... Good to see brandy with lemon..... whisky and lemon are bad combo
To each their own I always say. The best drink is the drink you like best. Thanks for watching, cheers!
I need one now. But ill use single malt since im scottish.
It’s a potent little cocktail that will fix what ails ya. Hope you give it a go. Cheers!
I like it. I think a little Gentleman Jack would work just fine.
Hmm, I think you're right, ha! I always encourage experimentation with your drinks.
This guy sounds like the Bob Ross of mixology 🤣
We’ll just mix a little drink over here, and shake another little bottle over in this corner… 🤣
Laughing lol👌😁😒👇 I'm sick
Vance Biondo omg I stated laughing right away too lol
I find for when I don't have fresh ingredients, using Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey or Evan Williams Honey whiskey and a proper ginger ale like Vernors or ginger beer with a small splash of lemon juice is a quick and easy substitute. Not everyone has the fresh ingredients on hand, and let's be honest, nobody wants to go to the grocery store when sick. Those three simple ingredients can be found at almost every liquor store.
Great suggestion.
what do you recommend for a good brandy?
+carameldrops08 Hello! How much do you want to spend? Fine cognacs can run in the thousands of dollars for a bottle. The two best-known types of brandy in the world are probably Cognac and Armagnac, both from France. The labeling system for cognac is Very Special/Superior (VS) - Aged for at least two years. Very Special/Superior Old Pale (VSOP) - Aged for at least four years. Extra Old (XO) - Aged for at least six years or more. Some great brands to try are Courvoisier, Hennessy and Remy Martin. These are all great for sipping. But if you are simply using it in a Hot Toddy then I would be modest with pricing. I used St-Remy Brandy. It was under $30. and it's a medium body brandy with aromatic fruit with spicy oak tones. Bottom line, everybody has different palates when it comes to what tastes good. The best brandy is the brandy you like best. Have fun exploring.
Thanks for all the info!! Really enjoy your videos. :D Happy subscriber here
Thank you.
Thank YOU for watching. Cheers!
if you close your eyes this sounds… naughty… with all the… mmmms and mmhmms

The Map of India is quite wrong please update that in further videos, Nice content though

Hi Bruce... I’ve become a great fan of your
I enjoy your video.. even if you blow your nose .. 😀😀😀😀😀
Ha pretty classy eh. Thanks for watching !
How are you bros? Keep safe always❤
All good here! Cheers
Oh my God, my mother has always made this exact same drink in the winter (minus the brandy because she doesn't drink alcohol). Could it be that she is secretly a cocktail connoisseur? I'd like to think so 😂
+nikki2giovi Ha maybe she is! It really does have healing properties. Warms ya up and puts ya to sleep! The alcohol helps with the sleep part. 😁 Thanks for watching!
Even TCM considers alcohol as medicine 🙏🏽🙏🏾💜
What that TCM means ?
I used to love watching this guy in #Columbo ... haha.. only joking... great channel & great video.... I have now subscribed 👍
Jim thanks for subscribing! Keep checking back, lots more on the way. Cheers and Happy New Year!
@@BarTalkCocktails Awww thank you.. I certainly will keep checking back.. Happy New year to you too
Love it! 😂
I can sure use one right now.🤧
Hope you’re over it and feeling much better! Cheers
Thank you sir
You are welcome. Keep checking back.
Its always the lemon . Would a lime be ok
A lime would work just fine in a Hot Toddy. The thing about a lemon though, when I'm sick, it provides a little more vitamin C compared to a lime. The juice from one lemon wedge provides 4 milligrams of vitamin C, while the same amount of lime has about 2.5 milligrams. Cheers!
Grandfather . Always with this . ITALIAN STICKLER TO WIVES TAILS. OT IS IT?
It actually works! Next time you’re sick give it a try. But try my recipe- not just the booze. Ha! Cheers
