- It was the end of a beautiful summer day of fishing, but with few fish netted. So I stopped at a couple of easy access pools on my way home. This was my last stop of this day, and only a one minute walk from my car. You've got to love it when a plan comes off!
Another good video 👏
Thanks again , Joe.
If the ending is good, the whole day is good!
True 👍.
Beautiful fish man!!!!!!!!!
Thanks. Yes, it was.
@ would you post videos about your line set up?
Hi,
Thanks for watching and your question.
I plan to do a few rod, reel, leader, line, and tippet set up videos and some more fly tying ones during our closed season. This would be in July, August, September 2025. If you want to know what the setup I am using in a particular video, I don't mind responding in the comments section. The same goes for flies. For example, in this video, I am using a "Primal" Branded, "Point" model 8' 9" (2.6m) 5 weight rod (medium action). The reel is an Orvis Hydros III (size 3). The fly line is an Airflo floating universal taper 5 weight. On the end of the fly line, I have an Airflow Floating Polyleader 8.5' (2.6m). On the end of the leader, I have around 4' to 6' (1.2 to 1.8m) of Airflo 4X mono tippet. All these are loop to loop connected, with the tippet having a perfection loop tied on the leader end. I only typically use three different dry flies, and these are always tied with a Double Davy knot. These are Cicadas, Royal Wulff, and less often, a Parachute Adams. To be honest, there are not really many bad rods around nowadays. Even a cheap mail-order carbon rod and CNC machined reel from China will do the job. I have a few as backup rods, and they alway get the job done. The line and tippet is where I invest $ in better mainstream brand products.
For the Perfection Loop and Double Davey knots, try searching TH-cam. There will be hundreds of videos on how to tie them way better than I could produce.
I hope that helps in the meantime until I can get it together to make some set-up videos.
If these last few videos were from the same day of fishing, then that was a great day.
Hi Chris. Yes, those four videos were from one long hot day of fishing. The last two fish were caught about ten minutes and 2 km apart on my way home. Car fishing as I like to call it. It was a great day for sure.
