The Korg Polysix Synthesizer from the year 1982 is a great polyphonic analog synth. For the most people the rival of the Roland Juno-60 but the sound character is very different. The P-6 sounds more like the 70s. Here can you find the full Polysix playlist with single sound demos and one synth demo tracks. Enjoy. The Polysix playlist ----> th-cam.com/play/PLe08Lbpy8pPYxsuC2F38Gx2zkhCx4TmKX.html
Without a doubt in my mind the best ever sounding synth ever made. But that is personal of course. I just love the warmth of the sound of this synth. Others may not agree. Definitely need to try and get my hands on one of those to complete my collection.
I love that first patch you've created at the start of the vid (the Numan-esque pad/strings) - really atmospheric. I've never owned a Polysix, but it seems like a great, adaptable synth.
There's delay on some of this, right? I love this machine. It's astonishing when you look at the control panel, that only about 12 dials are the actual synth bit - the rest is effects, arp, memory...yeah, 12 dials to do all this. Amazing.
Marko nice job programming the polysix. You seem to really have captured the sound that it is so capable of. Thank you for the demo. - Ken NitroChrome. 😎
The Polysix is so simple but the sound is so good. a bit synth and a bit 70s stringmachine. One of my favs ever. thank you! :) btw. you have one of my favorite synth channel on YT. The E II vids and the JP-6 are stunning.
like the most guys in these days. many have sold the old gear. and yes it need a lot time for the old stuff. ok thank you. I use two EII banks from you with my HXC. fantastic samples. :)
Cheers, got shed loads more.... Built up a large collection during my EII days. Welcome to it. I still recall selling my Jupiter 8 for £2K and my first Synthex for around the same.... What a silly thing to do. :( Keep up the good work. :)
I'm here for more inspiration! I have my eye on one of these. I may have to trade in some modern synthesizers for this wonderful vintage one. :) I'm going to go take a listen to it soon. It has a new board, caps, power supply so none of the traditional battery leak issues. Wish me luck. Hopefully it sounds as good as the one you're using right now. :) Take care, Sam.
Had a Polysix back then and loved it. Recently i bought a new one: the Korg iPolysix app. Well, no hardware knobs, but the sound is identical with a good amount of 'analog' dirt. And there are in fact two P-6 contained. Fun!
Wow some of this is so moody. This is perfect for movies. I think it’s programmed into people’s minds to sound a bit 80’s but really it’s better than the soundtracks I hear in modern movies. It seems to be a climatic age where the sounds of the dark knight are in almost everything. It’s also heavily based on noises for scary movies.
Ive missed out on a few coming up on ebay years ago when they where around $500-600. Now with the resurgence of synthpop and new disco theyve gone upwards of $1.5k
Awesome analog sounds provided by the Korg Polysix ! Thumbs up & thanks for these awesome strings, saw sweeps, organ like sounds... Keep sharing these analog delights ! ;-))
Hi, is there any way I can get any screenshots or settings for these sounds, specifically the cool SI-FI sounds. I have the poly six vst. Could you email them to me?
analogia.pl I think you mean. Turns out that analog.pl is very unrelated. Took me a moment to figure it out, though, since I don't read the language :) Looks like it's a KiwiSix and services, right? If so, cool.
The Polysix has that bottom end lacking in the Junos and JX synths. Wish I'd picked one up back in my analog synth days. Keep making these great videos!
super präsentation, wie gewohnt.... dieses gerät hätte ich auch gerne im studio, doch bräuchte ich einen personal-elektroniker, um es instand zu halten :)))
Back in the day the feature set was pretty damn good. But these days this synth doesn't compare to what they jampack in these new hardware synths. I think this is what makes it great because it sounds soooo authentic and makes you work harder to get sounds out of it and learn more about synthesis. I played one a while back and tried to buy it but the person would not part and I couldn't blame them. For me this synth really fits into a mix which (imo) makes it truly valuable. Korg had a unique flavor of oscillator and sounds zippy and punchy and warm. Keep on making music buddy. Awesome.
Hi there! This is just for shits & giggles, but did you perhaps use a Polysix to record your channel intro tune? It sounds kinda familiar. Muchas gracias and keep up the nice work 👌👍
Marko (?) what is your opinion on modern synthwave? the way these musicians pay homage to the 80s but use VSTs. I personally feel, that if you really do love the 80s and are inspired by it that you would try to use the original gear. would you agree to that?
It is interesting you bring this up. I do not disagree in using the original gear if you can get it. I have seen several artist insist on it. There is however a misconception that all are inferior when it comes to VST. That is simply not the case. It really depends on what your going for. OP-X is one example that if you look at the scope and the analyzer its difficult to tell them apart. There are some however that can still tell you which is which LOL........ Some DreamWave artist , I guess like M83 use older gear for various things. I feel inspired when I hear anything that is even close to remarkable, new or old. If I am going for that exact sound I will work very hard to get there.
Christopher Smith thank you for commenting. I do understand what you're saying. I'm not too savy smart at theoretically explaining why exactly , as in what makes it from a technical standpoint superior . though I did have a very bright friend of mine, whom is not even obsessed with these things as I am- but is obsessed with electronics in general, explain to me that one reason a reissue synth can't sound like the original has to do with the way the original transistors "flavored" and "colors" the sound. and we USED to use high quality material. and a vast majority of those transistors were of the earth and cut from the same mold during the years of production. as of today, now we use cheaper quality. he stressed that on being one of the reasons. so that itself is part and parcel to nostalgia as well. btw M83 good stuff.😃
I write synthwave and I use both old vintage gear along with new VSTi's, its all about music and emotion and its not nessesary to limit yourself. Nowdays gear and options are freaking awesome. :) FYI. M83 is my buddy from town and he actually did everything with just ableton+vsti's only, but... he quite recently also get some vintage hardware (he kinda get inspired by me :P) and started to experiment and use them aswell.
Lovely demo of this machine. I find this more flexible in sounds than the juno 6/60/106 series . Wish i had bought one when these were dirt cheap. By the way do you have any demo vids of the korg monopoly ?
What did you find boring about the MonoPoly? I had one and thought it was pretty cool. I have the software one now and the Mono/Fury. They both sound close enough for me not to worry about selling it. It was no MiniMoog(I sold that too).
... and another thing. People who click the dislike should be forced to make a comment why or it doesn't register. Never understand it on something like this..... can only be jealousy?
@@retrosound72 yea I've tried the chorus on mine and I can't seem to get much use for it. In fact I keep the effects off most of the time. It does a few great basses and the lfo on the filter is so dramatic I forget about the effects. 😎
Damn, they should take you off the net. This is not healthy. All my money gone, my kids hungry and my wife angry. Don't you feel guilt? Very nice demo and good programming!

and again and again i'll return to the Polysix videos to recover my memories - which was my very first synth in 1985..... rip
wonderful synth
In its class, I truly believe the PolySix is unrivaled, personally speaking. This is phenomenal.
:) yes
Psychedelics+Polysix= GOOD TIMES
:))
I need a video from y’all on how to get all those amazing sounds. Every sound on here is beautiful. Thanks for the video.
:)
Such a great demo! Incredible diversity of sounds you created. Particularly impressed with that patch at 4:54 That is Tangerine Dream territory!!
thank you
Without a doubt in my mind the best ever sounding synth ever made. But that is personal of course. I just love the warmth of the sound of this synth. Others may not agree. Definitely need to try and get my hands on one of those to complete my collection.
I love the P-6 too.
I love this synth so much! I got one with the KiwiSix installed and a case for $1500.00! No regrets!
:))
You just know the essence of every machine and how they will shine.
thank you so much :)
I love that first patch you've created at the start of the vid (the Numan-esque pad/strings) - really atmospheric. I've never owned a Polysix, but it seems like a great, adaptable synth.
thank you so much
I have one I play it almost every day. I started programming a few months ago. Just have basses in the first row of patches. ✌
Eu aderi ao teu canal porque acho que um serviço público mostrar como estes sintetizadores lendários pulsam! Obrigado por tudo!!!
E vendo vídeos assim conclui que pra mim esse Synth é o melhor 👍
Polysix has a very unique filter resonance that can't be heard in no another synthesizer
yes agreed
There's delay on some of this, right? I love this machine. It's astonishing when you look at the control panel, that only about 12 dials are the actual synth bit - the rest is effects, arp, memory...yeah, 12 dials to do all this. Amazing.
I had one of these back in the day, it was a super instrument. Happy memories, thanks.
:)
Marko nice job programming the polysix. You seem to really have captured the sound that it is so capable of. Thank you for the demo. - Ken NitroChrome. 😎
Thank you so much. :)
Of all the vintage synths I've gone through this is one of the few I wish I had again. Especially with MIDI ! Another cool vid, cheers.
The Polysix is so simple but the sound is so good. a bit synth and a bit 70s stringmachine. One of my favs ever.
thank you! :)
btw. you have one of my favorite synth channel on YT. The E II vids and the JP-6 are stunning.
Ah Cheers. Just wish I still had all the gear and more time to use it. Very small setup these days... PM me if looking for EII stuff. :)
like the most guys in these days. many have sold the old gear. and yes it need a lot time for the old stuff. ok thank you. I use two EII banks from you with my HXC. fantastic samples. :)

I can feel your pain. In these days is the JP8 so extremely expensive. But you are not alone, believe me. ;)
thanks a lot and you! :)
Fantastic demo here. Well done!!
Thank you
How do you get that lovely mellow brass sound at 3:19?
I'm here for more inspiration! I have my eye on one of these. I may have to trade in some modern synthesizers for this wonderful vintage one. :) I'm going to go take a listen to it soon. It has a new board, caps, power supply so none of the traditional battery leak issues. Wish me luck. Hopefully it sounds as good as the one you're using right now. :) Take care, Sam.
Good luck! A fantastic synth.
Sounds so awesome 👊👊
Love the horn pad and the strings.
:)

the sound is not identical. really not.
wowwww!!!! one of my fav! those sounds are awesome!!!!!
:)

Its sounds never get old, I spent hours toying around with the software version. Wish I could get my hands on a real one.
never get old. :)
Where did you get the software version from?
KORG's Legacy Collection
Where can I buy Retro?
Ive missed out on a few coming up on ebay years ago when they where around $500-600. Now with the resurgence of synthpop and new disco theyve gone upwards of $1.5k
Every time I watch to this video I buy a polysix. This will be my 3rd one. I never learn.
haha ;)
Every number you do has a cold sci-fi feel to it.
yes I love it
The Best ! Reminds me Good things Soundscapes movies 80s vibes ❤️
Thank you
Awesome analog sounds provided by the Korg Polysix !
Thumbs up & thanks for these awesome strings, saw sweeps, organ like sounds...
Keep sharing these analog delights ! ;-))
thanks a lot :)
My pleasure ! ;-))
Top of my list to obtain this year. Been through most and this one sticks out as great value for £.
My second P-6. fantastic sound but unfortunately not very reliable. But I love this synth.
Hi, is there any way I can get any screenshots or settings for these sounds, specifically the cool SI-FI sounds. I have the poly six vst. Could you email them to me?
You should try chord memory as a monophonic sound, without a chord in the memory. Enjoy !
Foaming at the mouth. If I were to own one vintage poly synth, it would be this.
Thank you. I needed that.
;)
Wonderful! Super! Like! Greetings !!
thanks
Niiiiiiiiiice beast!! and mint condition, as with all your machines, really impressive. Cheers. :)
thank you! :)
Damn this sounds so good!!
:)
Those vintage LFOs! Powerful but pitchy
:)
My P6 will get NoisySix, ModySix and PolySex in the near future. I'm so excited .. 😬
:D
I have those 3 mods and have to say it turns the Polysix into one of the best polyphonic synths ever made.
Sehr sehr geiles Video 👍🏻👍🏻🙏🏻
dankeschön
Love this synth. Between the Kiwi and PolySex, there are some cool mods for it as well.
I have the Polysix Deluxe Version from analogia.pl
analogia.pl I think you mean. Turns out that analog.pl is very unrelated. Took me a moment to figure it out, though, since I don't read the language :)
Looks like it's a KiwiSix and services, right? If so, cool.
haha yes :)
no KIWISIX board but MIDI, FX IN and OUT, PW IN and more
Hi.Can you tell what mods do you have in that synth totaly, pls? =)
Das Teil hat einen genialen Sound.
ja
The Polysix has that bottom end lacking in the Junos and JX synths. Wish I'd picked one up back in my analog synth days. Keep making these great videos!
thanks for watching
Love your videos. Your intro bit makes me feel like I'm playing Soul Caliber or Mortal Combat. lol
haha cool
thanks
super präsentation, wie gewohnt.... dieses gerät hätte ich auch gerne im studio, doch bräuchte ich einen personal-elektroniker, um es instand zu halten :)))
vielen dank red. :)
ja das stimmt, der P-6 ist nicht unproblematisch

Wow!
:))
Yessssss. YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!
:)
I own A midi'd one. Excellent demo!
thank you
Amazing, much better than the Poly_61!
yes agree
Hi there! This is just for shits & giggles, but did you perhaps use a Polysix to record your channel intro tune? It sounds kinda familiar. Muchas gracias and keep up the nice work 👌👍
The intro is made with DX7, Taurus and VP330
thank you for watching
love this sound arround 4 min
🙌😊
This synth sounds absolutely massive!
:)
Which kind of effect do you use to have this stereo feeling ?
Marko (?) what is your opinion on modern synthwave? the way these musicians pay homage to the 80s but use VSTs. I personally feel, that if you really do love the 80s and are inspired by it that you would try to use the original gear. would you agree to that?
you need no original gear for making 80s music. use what you like. what you inspired
RetroSound I suppose. if it was all I had to my disposal.but I have a hard time fathoming that a vst sounds as good as original gear.
It is interesting you bring this up. I do not disagree in using the original gear if you can get it. I have seen several artist insist on it. Sounds like a Trident! Same synth engine?
not the same synth engine but the sound is similar
Real synthesizer'
yes :)
Lovely demo of this machine. I find this more flexible in sounds than the juno 6/60/106 series . Wish i had bought one when these were dirt cheap. By the way do you have any demo vids of the korg monopoly ?
thank you :)
yes I have a few Mono/Poly vids on YT.
th-cam.com/video/pAZVsaDT5lk/w-d-xo.html
Brilliant thanks for the link and your reply :-)
Is there some MIDI retrofit over on the right there, by the power supply?
Sounding great as always! :]
yes MIDI and more
thanks
*****
Right on!
I appreciate the info :]
...keep up the good work!!!
how do you get wide stereo ensemble effect at 6:10 when polysix has only mono out?
delay
very gut. please make monopoly video too
thank you.
The MP-4 is sold in 2011. boring synth.
What did you find boring about the MonoPoly? I had one and thought it was pretty cool. I have the software one now and the Mono/Fury. They both sound close enough for me not to worry about selling it. It was no MiniMoog(I sold that too).
Feel like you can get the same sounds on ob6
a few for sure but not all.
What delay are you using? Sounds amazing
Lexicon MX
Thank you
In the intro, did you use the "whapsynth" setting on the DX7ii?
Blake Foster I often ask myself if the vid intro is dx7 ?
intro is Taurus, VP330 and DX7 II
... and another thing. People who click the dislike should be forced to make a comment why or it doesn't register. Never understand it on something like this..... can only be jealousy?
these are my personal fanboys :D
No. It is their signature. They were born with 1 inch cocks. Their life sucks. Thumb down is sort of: "I was here" for them.
8 people use the VST
:D
Well, what can i see - serviced in analogia.pl? :)
yes
Love that first patch. Sounds like welcome to the machine. I don't understand how you get it to sound so fizzy there's no noise gen? ,😎
The BBD chorus is the secret
@@retrosound72 yea I've tried the chorus on mine and I can't seem to get much use for it. In fact I keep the effects off most of the time. It does a few great basses and the lfo on the filter is so dramatic I forget about the effects. 😎
is this a custom patch? if so where can i get it?
all sounds are custom
I WANT THIS BABY SO BAD :D
;)
:)))))
korG
Opps! you forgot to demo the Arpeggiator! :)
only soundscapes. for arpeggiator check my othe Polysix demo vids
Hattest du deinen nicht kürzlich verkauft?
Ja einen defekten P-6.
geat sound!!! it´s posible to get the presets?
thank you.
I never store my sounds.
Damn, they should take you off the net. This is not healthy. All my money gone, my kids hungry and my wife angry. Don't you feel guilt?
Very nice demo and good programming!
Stop it! :D
So einen hätt´ ich auch gern! Soll ja problematisch sein wegen der Batterie... :-/
Beide klingen extrem unterschiedlich. Das ist reine Geschmackssache.
