The amount of work that it probably took to emulate EVERY last one of the presets on the JUNO 106, JX3P, and the PolySix, and to do it 100% for free???? It just blows my mind that you could be this hardworking, so competent, and yet this generous. On this day 07.08.2023, I traded a bunch of gear I had and traded in for a deepmind12d and I tell you, you were one of the biggest reasons I did so! I hope your patches color most of mine (and other people's songs) from now on. Even though you advertise these as free presets, it doesn't feel right to download them without at least paying a couple dozen doubloons. Thanks again for the effort! I just wanted to comment and say that you really are one of a kind youtuber. I really do wish you success and happiness in all your endeavors.
I always thought that all analog synths sounded completely different and it’s true to a certain degree but it’s amazing to see that despite differences in the oscillators waveforms, filter types and architecture we can still make patches sound remarkably similar. When I get a new synth, I always like to reproduce patches from another synth and try to make them sound similar. This forces me to really learn all the features of the new synth because we always end up having to compensate for things that are done differently in the two synths. This skill helps a lot when I get the infamous gear acquisition syndrome, sometimes I convince myself that I can make similar sounds with the gear I already have and I don’t need this new synth.
I sincerely enjoy your videos and generally am a fan of the pay what you want concept, especially with those synth patches. Good job they sound extremely close, so close that mostly no one could hear the difference

That range is anywhere from generous to fair to outrageous lol I hesitate to say outrageous because I understand the effort involved BUT sometimes you'll come across dudes charging top dollar for a low amount and they don't even sound that good (even got kinda burned once but no biggie lol). So like some people sell 300ish presets for like $40ish, some sell 30-50ish for $25ish, it's kind of all over the place tbh lol I think asking $5-$10 for what you're doing is certainly not overpriced thats for sure. To the point! "you don't need vintage synths to get that particular sound"! Love the deep mind. What do you think it misses or what could have been added according to your needs, Jorb?

Hey Jorb, great job! Have you considered making a video on how you use Deepmind in songs? As in more in the mix, rather than a lone instrument. I would be definitely happy to see it.
Quick question - have you been bothered at all by the high-pitched noise produced by the entire Deepmind family? I think it is most clear around 05:27 in this video. I have tried absolutely everything to get rid of it, aside from opening up the unit with not nearly the technical ability to handle the task, all to no avail. I'm wondering if you have any ideas as to what could be producing this high-pitched whine? I've owned around 5 or 6 Deepminds from buying and selling, and each one had the same issue. Any insight you have whatsoever would be immensely helpful. Thanks for making the best synth/gear related content on YT :) Hope all is well in your world!

I dont think I'll do the 8P honestly, trying to reverse engineer those patches, especially without the programmer would be way too much time for me to commit these days. I have started some work on another deepmind patch pack though
Dear Jorb, really been enjoying your videos and your insight on the deepmind and its functionality. I haven't bought mine yet but I would like to know if it might be possible to have all of these presets you've made (juno, jx3p, and polysix) on the deepmind at the same time.
Just wondering if the Prologue would better match the pulse-width qualities you found difficult to match with the DM12. I have both boards, but not the vintage ones to test them against.
Hi Jorb! Have you got hiss on your DM, and do notes linger at like -80dB? My DM12D does that. I'm trying to suss it out. It's really annoying. I'm porting JX8P/PG8X factory patches to DM12D right now. Thanks for all you do. Even my audio friends around here are impossible to discuss sound design with. I'm very grateful to have you around! Your DeepMind presets have been very helpful to study. Warmest regards, Glenn in Rochester, NY, USA Cheers!
@@JorbLovesGear Wow, thank you! If I insert a noise gate I get silence, but I'd love silence in the analog path. I'll try this. Thanks! I'm going to run a vca calibration tonight and see if that helps. I'll let you know :)
As I see seem to know the DM 12 pretty well, I have a question : can this synth be used as a master keyboard / controller replacement ? If yes, can the keyboard be split so as to have half of it for the internal sounds of the DM and the other half for an external module ? Thanks,
@Aaron Foltz the idea was actually to replace my Novation SL Mk3 with it to get a bit of home studio real estate back and reduce a bit of setup complexity as I have other ways to sequence now.
Cant split it to two midi channels from the dm alone, no. You could probably process midi with a daw, or another piece of hardware, but that gets a little tricky.
Actually, you can trick a split to a second synth!! Press the edit button under the poly section until you get to >>CHAIN PARAMETERS menu. Turn key range on Set RANGE-LOWER to C1 and RANGE-UPPER where you want the split, say B4 for example. Plug in another synth to the midi out and set the appropriate channels. Now anything above the B4 will only play on your second split on the external synth. There may be a way to mod matrix a Pan so the lower notes won't play on the second synth but I haven't figured that out yet.
I've drifted away from being amped on that, the presets in those manuals are honestly not that exciting. AND while SH101 is totally possible, arp would be a lot of compromising
Depends on the patch! Make sure stereo panning is off in the VCA edit menu, and that all the effects are set up so that they aren't panning or anything.
@@JorbLovesGear I was guessing it would work like this, but never was really sure. Since I prefer to use external effects I can save an input in my mixer like this :) Just bought all the patchbanks yesterday. Big up! It's nice to have the patches of the 106, JX3P and PolySix in one machine.
Your free preset banks make me want to sell a lot of gear to buy the DM 12 :) do you think it would be possible to bring Korg Prologue, MS-20 presets ? I know that the MS-20 has a quite special architecture and filters but maybe something close could be made. Even more challenging question, could some of the D-50 patches be brought ? Again, even more different architecture but, could be fun to try to get close.
MS-20 is difficult, because of the two filters! And they resonance / drive being unique. Deepmind could maaybe get close, because you can use one of the effects as a filter. But not close enough for me to want to try..lol
@@JorbLovesGear yep I guessed MS-20 is pretty unique in its architecture. How about the D-50 ? Though it’s fully digital and uses another sound design technique, some of the sounds might be doable.
Jorb keep doing Deepmind videos man, they’re all really helpful.

I do, a bit. Turning the LED's off and the fan down helped what i was hearing. Cheers, hope you enjoy em!
@@JorbLovesGear Wow, thank you! If I insert a noise gate I get silence, but I'd love silence in the analog path. I'll try this. Thanks! I'm going to run a vca calibration tonight and see if that helps. I'll let you know :)
Would love a Jorb patch pack!
Actually coming soon!
@@JorbLovesGear sick - I recently got a deepmind and I’ve been binging on your channel! Thanks for all the stuff man.
I wish I could do the same with my Opsix synth. I mean the synth is there, I “just” lack the knowledge.
As I see seem to know the DM 12 pretty well, I have a question : can this synth be used as a master keyboard / controller replacement ? If yes, can the keyboard be split so as to have half of it for the internal sounds of the DM and the other half for an external module ? Thanks,
Pretty sure it can split and can control another synth
I have the deepmind 12 and have not found a way to split. Someone please prove me wrong.
Next pack…Oberheim Matrix 6? 😀 Feel like the Deepmind is one of the few modern synths that could emulate that machine well.
Wonderful. Do you expect to develop a cs80 soundbank?
Not for the deepmind, 2 layers of 2 oscillators, by my measure it wouldn't do any justice.
sounds like an instrument. a thing people use to play music
Happy to confirm, it certainly is. lol
Sh101 and arp odyssey! Yesss please do!
I've drifted away from being amped on that, the presets in those manuals are honestly not that exciting.
AND while SH101 is totally possible, arp would be a lot of compromising
No longer do I have to take my P6 out to shows
LOVE reading this, hope the sounds do well!
PolySix has more trasient but really close
How do you run the Deepmind in mono?
I was always afraid I'm losing some information when only plugging in the left jack out.
By the way, great job on all the patches! :)
Depends on the patch! Make sure stereo panning is off in the VCA edit menu, and that all the effects are set up so that they aren't panning or anything.
@@JorbLovesGear I was guessing it would work like this, but never was really sure.
Since I prefer to use external effects I can save an input in my mixer like this :)
Just bought all the patchbanks yesterday.
Any of these work on the DM6?
Fully compatible!
Bro, what's that yellow synth/keyboard behind you?
Dsi mopho keys
Make Juno 60 presets. I buy. Regards from Portugal.
I did the 106 because I had a good way to compare. If I ever end up with a 60, maybe those will come too!
