The internet has given this man the recognition he always so rightly deserved. He's gaining fans all over the world at rapid rate. Most don't understand why he got by them and they are avid music lovers and musicians alike. He never sought it. He just did what he did because thats what he did. Amazing talent and heart and soul. And now the whole world is hearing and seeing. Very cool. Play on Rory Gallagher!!!!
The completely applies to me! 55 years old, felt blues in my bones since I was in the single digits. Listened to a lot of Clapton, SRV, bb king, knopler, Santana and then 3 years ago I stumbled on Rory! I heard of the name but never looked him up years ago. Found myself wondering how I could have gone 35 years and never heard him play! Simply amazing. A legend! Thank you al gore for inventing the Internet! 🤣
I loved your comments you are spot on with what you say about Rory it was never about fame he always sidetracked fame he just wanted to play absolute legend
Really only discovered him recently by accident and only because I like joy division so shadowplay came up in a search and now I'm a huge fan trying to get as many records as my meagre budget will allow and watching as much on TH-cam as I can. He is 100% the greatest guitarist of all time, if Jimi Hendrix says so it makes it true.
The thing that put Rory a notch above Clapton was that he was a master of his craft & was willing to talk about it to anyone who asked...besides the blues, he was also steeped in many other musical genres so he played with a lot of different musicians...what a great Master class professor he would have made! Clapton was known to have been a blues snob at one time & was not open to dialogue as Rory always was...😊
My first live gig was to see Rory at what used to be called Bristol Colston Hall around 1977 - I am guessing the date it was a long time ago - went to see him there several times, he remains my favourite guitarist and was always great value, I don't understand how he came to be undervalued generally, great that TH-cam is bringing him to more attention
Rory was one of the most versatile string players in the rock, blues world. Under appreciated by too many people. Left us way too soon. Thankful I was able to see him play several times and meet him once.
The best blues guitarist that came out of my county -- Donegal. He is missed. There is a Rory Gallagher festival every year in Donegal. I gotta be there this year.
My first time I heard Rory was when radio was playing moon child. Then I went off to the Air Force in 1977. One of my friends had top priority. After I heard that I quickly bought many other albums and became a huge fan. I'm still deeply moved by his passing. The best music man that ever walked the planet. And a wonderful person.
What a humble guy. Awesomely talented, but always was a seeker and wise to know the music is always a journey, not a destination. RIP Rory. You should be more well known amongst the guitar hero cadre'.
A fantastic clip to watch again and again. I've forgotten what he explained about the guitars and way of playing with the fingers. A ray of light to see Rory.
Inspirational and still very humble. Rory just loved playing! He was the litmus, a guide for what is good guitar playing. No effect s on his personality or his instrument - a true troubadour and ultimately a legend to regard alongside the greats in blues.
i wonder if any of those legendary musicians could ever imagine how 21st century music would end up to be.. :( and how greatly they contibuted in making priceless diachronic music.! rory left behind a wonderful and unique gift to humanity.
Thanks for sharing this was awesome, listening to Rory explaining different styles of playing, and I'm glad to see his pianist working with him and their jiving.
I truly believe God blesses this man with not only amazing talent, but amazing humility. Not only did this make him approachable, but also open to ideas and innovation. He was truly the greatest and his inability to run with that superlative actually made him better. That is how greatness is supposed to work. I hope to meet him in Heaven some day.
Thank God for you tube never though id say that but whit it i get to listen to RORY when ever i want to which is everyday SLEEP EASY RORY XXX MARGO♥️♥️♥️☘
I'm biased but this is a good little master class in guitar playing. For me, 1974, the Carlton cinema, front row with sister Dervalla, my first rock concert set a a very high standard, thank you Rory
I would take any advise the man gave... I am always amazed that Rory a top notch, way above Clapton wasn't bigger. His songs are better, sings and plays a hell of a lot better. Us that now Rory won't never forget your GENIUS, RIP IRISHMAN !!!
He said it himself whilst being interviewed. ''I'm sure I could write a hit single. But it's not what I want to do; it would put me in a category.'' Whenever I saw him his gigs were packed.
Hey at the 1 minute mark Rory is playing Grateful Dead intro to Alabama Getaway! Just a coincidence they both passed away in 1995 2 months apart! Rock on Rory rock on jerry!
@gitaar079 it isn't a peavey its a early 50's Fender twin amp. rory used this twin together with a fender bassman 4X10 combo after his vox ac30's. then later on he switched to ampeg vt40's, marshall combo's and marshall heads and cabs in his last years.
Rory Gallagher is one of the greatest, ohh my goodness he was unbelievably phenomenal guitarist no wonders Slash always quoted him as his influence, he could be Jimmy Page’s brother as he looks a lot like Jimmy Page , thank you for posting this awesome historical music document

Rory at the 1 minute mark is playing Grateful Dead’s Alabama Getaway Intro! Funny right? Rory passed away June 1995 and jerry August 1995 my 2 heroes and oh yeah Mickey mantle also 1995
The Edge should do himself a favour & sit up nights watching Rory Gallagher then maybe he would not have to rely on so many effects. With just an amp & a guitar I think the Edge would be afraid to be in the same room as Rory . U2 is supposed to be the best band in the world right now but I think I will stick to somebody who can run me through the gamut of human emotion just by playing a few notes or singing a song that was so honestly full of heart and soul.A true musician if there ever was one.
I agree Rory is way above The Edge. But stop comparing, Edge has a different approach to guitar playing, Rory plays lead solos, Edge paints a soundscape inside the song. Apples or oranges. They both serve a purpose!!!

The best thing about Rory is that he was authentic. And everyone knew it.
If more people knew about Rory the world would be the better for it.
It's taken me a long time to get him, but I see it now.
I been telling as many people as I can.

And Clapton became a commercial pop artist years ago. I always liked Jack Bruce better - and of course Rory.
Have attended Rory's concerts several times. Amazing! Rory is (not was) an unique artist!!
