The songs you listened are really about politics and injustice, like almost all of Karpe Diems songs and Hkeem are about racism and politics. You should look up a translation of the lyrics, it hits you really hard. It is really popular among young people in Norway and it shows a real and true side, which I personally think is really cool. They kinda sets politic and stuff on the edge. Loved the way you jammed to these songs, because in Norway they are really powerful and uplifting, you should listen to more bro!
"Lett å være rebell i kjellerleiligheten din" is a lyrical masterpiece about racism on the Internet and in Norwegian politics. The title directly translates to "easy being a rebbel in your cellar flat"

Tbh, trying to translate Karpe's songs into English is rather hard, as their songs are very political and deal with specifically Norwegian politics (tho immigration is big in politics all over the world). They reference a lot of Norwegian specific things that are hard to translate without also explaining who this or that person is, what this or that thing is, etc. Tho I'm giving it a try
"Naver" is like a derogatory term for people living off social welfare, and the meaning is more like 'to be moocher' (on society). It is non-racial and anyone can be considered 'naver'. Although racists and anti-immigrants would assume dark skinned immigrants of being it, whether true or not.
The song called snufs is kinda funny, I will explain, the start is a old woman in old style singing: Im so happy the whole world is minee! Because I have just took a bit cocaine or a sniff cocaine, it rymhes more in norwegian.
6:47 That song is much better when you know what the lyrics mean. Among some of them they mean "Is this what my tax money is going to" which is what is repeated, and they are talking about immigrants, which is why they are portrayed as demons in the video. Later this is replaced by "Is it YOU who is taking my daughter to the cinema?! Is she a muslim now?" followed by "You´ll never be a scandinavian" "everyone of you is going to get fucked (knulla), mullah mullah mullah mullah mullah. Mullah is a figutive in norway and has affiliations with terrorists. the chorus means "if you would have known what would´ve given to look like you, babba look like you, you coward" and "Its so easy to be a rebel in your basement-apartment" The song was quite controversial when it came out to be honest, which made it even better of course.
Love this video! All of these song are amazing, so I just want to quickly tell you what their about, and then translate Karpe’s song for you.
The first one: Hkeem’s “Fy faen” is a norwegian swear word and expression, and basically translates too “oh shit” “Well damn” “holy shit” “fuuuck” “oh fuck”.. you get it. It’s a feelgood song about not taking hate, living each day like it was the last, follow your dream, your plan, go your own way, do what you want and need, show your enemies that you’re better, nobody has time for bullshit etc. Before the “ayayayay yeah” part he sings “This is the message I give thru my song, yeah”.
The second one: Blvck O “si ingenting” means “say nothing”. He raps “If the cops ask, say nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing, about why I have diamonds on my little finger. Little finger. Crystals on my dingeling”. It’s an english remix of the norwegian original version by “Kamelen”
I took my time to translate the song “Lett å være rebell i kjellerleiligheten din” by the norwegian rap duo “Karpe” for you. It’s a very political song with powerful lyrics. The lyrics are based on real comments written by racist bigots, in the comment section on facebook posts and national newspapers etc. It’s normal people and politicians if I remember correctly, covering the subjects immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers. The big black eyes are supposed to represent the cockroach eyes, or other insect eyes, as that’s what some of the people in the comments refer “foreigners” as.
Here’s the song translated:
Monkeys in my block and Abu Bakr in my cockpit? (Is this what my tax money goes too?) Your anker children came, so mocha men can win the lottery? (Is this what my tax money goes too?) They said they came from poverty, but could afford a boat here. (Is this what my tax money goes too?) Dogs born in barns are neither horses nor farm animals (Is this what my tax money goes too?) You’re all made of the same wool (Everyone’s gonna get fucked) Mullah, Mullah, Mullah, Mullah, Mullah You’re all made of the same wool (Everyone’s gonna get fucked) Mullah, Mullah, Mullah, Mullah, Mullah If you only knew what I’d do to be like you Be like you, baba, be like you If you only knew what I’d do to be like you, you coward And it’s so easy being a rebel in your basement apartment And it’s so easy being a rebel in your basement apartment And it’s so easy being a rebel in your basement apartment, you coward. (translator's note: this is the part you liked, that build up to the beat drop)
I don’t give a fuck if you’re Tshawe or Vinz or Nico (translator’a note: these are amazing norwegian, black rappers) (Are you the one that’s taking my daughter to the cinema?) You might be cool today, but she’ll marry Kygo (translator’s note: he’s a norwegian white EDM artist) (Are you the one that’s taking my daughter to the cinema?) You’ve got the hijab in the backseat, Is she gonna become a muslim now? (Are you the one that’s taking my daughter to the cinema?) I’m not a racist, but is your passport supposed to like mean something? (Are you the one that’s taking my daughter to the cinema?) Picking fruit from our gardens (You’ll never become a scandinavian) Welfare, Welfare, Welfare, Welfare, Welfare Picking fruit from our gardens (You’ll never become a scandinavian) Welfare, Welfare, Welfare, Welfare, Welfare If you only knew what I’d do to be like you Be like you, baba, be like you If you only knew what I’d do to be like you, you coward And it’s so easy being a rebel in your basement apartment And it’s so easy being a rebel in your basement apartment And it’s so easy being a rebel in your basement apartment, you coward.
My boy’s said: «fuck, oh shit, oh damn Who’s watching the cops, who’s cutting our hair?» Asking provoking questions, quasi-smart Drinking Nikka, smoking something that makes them asian Until someone says every government needs their monkey (translator’s note: this is a wordplay in norwegian. Monkey = Ape, but Ape is also a shortening for a norwegian political party) Everyone thinks it’s a good wordplay Because it means two things And something like that is kind of demanded, yeah Anders, Anders, Anders Anundsen (translator’s note: a norwegian politician that represents the right winged party Frp) My black dudes said some smart words: «Karpe has opened enough doors now, it’s time to close some» If Arif or Kaveh or the asylum children don’t get in What the fuck are you gonna do then, bro? Sy it to Anders, Anders, Anders Anundsen Easy being a rebel in your basement apartment Packed with skeletons in my basement apartment I’m gonna end up like you, like a coward Oh lord, oh lord, can you forgive little lord For wanting a car and a boat, no! Oh lord, oh lord, can you forgive Little lord For wanting a car and a boat, no!
8:23 they sing about refugees and it is a very respected song in Norway. those who sing it have been refugees. they sing about racism and what it's like not to be equal. (sorry for bad English)

Bitchin', the police in Norway is probably the nicest folks in that profession you'll find on the globe. Gtfo, trying to make Norway look so ghetto. These so called rappers need a reality check xD
Thunder Warrior tied to a tree? I mean I’ve seen my fair share of poor police work, unnessesary force etc but what are you on about? A friend of mine drunk off his ass in Nordland called a police officer "trekuk" instead of the completely legal insult "hestkuk", he got a talking to which made him more riled up and the police officers tired of his shit so he got cuffed, he then ran away, had the handcuffs sawed off and ended up turning himself 4 hours later while the police had been frantically searching for him because he was freaking cuffed. They gave him a talking to and drove him home as he had sobered up more they didn’t bother throwing him in the drunk tank as planned.
@@kodi3881 Doesn't matter one bit how nice the police is, when an lawyer can answer the questions with more correct lingo than you. Just don't say anything unless you've got legal help.
Even as a Norwegian, videos like this is probably my favourite way to discover new Norwegian music. Not a big rap fan, but I gotta admit, Karpe Diem just seem to get better and better . Love your reactions dude!
Depends on how you translate. You could make it rhyme if you changed up a lot of things, but it would be at risk of changing the meaning of the lyrics. Take the Karpe Diem song who rhymes _Ulla_ (the wool, but meaning "cut from the same cloth") with Mullah, and then with _Knulla_ (which means "fucked"). You'd have to drastically change the lyrics to make that rhyme in English.
SAS PLUS // SAS PUSSY by Karpe is pretty much my favourite song of 2019 so far. It's a musical experience. I'm Canadian and I listen to pretty much just Norwegian music. They have so much great music. Liked the video. Glad you like Norwegian music too!
From the Karpe lyrics: _Du er kanskje kul i dag, men hun gifter seg med Kygo!_ "You are perhaps cool (for her) today, but she'll marry Kygo!" Implying that while you're probably a nice toyboy foer her now, you're not _white_ like Kygo, or Alan Walker, for that matter, and _that's_ who she'll marry. Later Karpe continues: _Har du hijaben i baksetet? Skal du bli muslim nå?_ "Do you have the hijab in the back seat (of the car)? Are you going to be a Muslim now?"

I enjoy your content my man, so i put the lyrics through google translate and polished them slightly to be comprehensible. The weird part in "ingenting" seems to not be norwegian, so cant help you there - i guess it is gambian as Blvck O has his roots there. bro bro bro. I am from norway, and the last song is, if police aske you something and its like a mafia group you dont say anything to police. norwgian si ingenting= english dont say anything
The song fyfaen is the same as saying like damn i english, and the mening of the song is like, no matter what challenge you are up to in life you should just ignore it and be real with yourself. Everyone is facing being a little stated once in a while and that describes the title of the song fyfaen "damn" hakeem said on an intervju with 730.no. And the karpe diem song In "Easy to be rebel in your basement apartment", Karpe Diem takes a strong and controversial settlement with critical and hateful statements about immigrants, a topic that is very relevant in Norway at the moment. The goal has been to gather sentences and phrases and words people use in the dehumanization of other peoples, religions and cultures. The comment field is the place where people have the most free rein, where everything comes out. Things they "heard" are rendered in a place where they think they are alone. And then the last song by blvck O is actually an remix of the original song from a boy called Kamelen wich originally made the song. And in the verion you heard at the start you said you didnt know what they said in norwegian but its actually Ken do fi wah, manneh nôpil , So féké neh bogga-nga nôki where he actually switches it up to Wolof (Senegambian language): It means that haters should be quiet, if they would like to keep breathing and the original song by Kamelen is basicly a song saying fuck the police. So when the police asks, say nothing (hvis snuten spør si ingenting)
Im super late to the game, But this song is a very astute and topical criticism of racism and xenophopia in Norway "Anders Anundsen" was our Minister of Justice and Immigration at the time, and he recieved a lot of criticism about his comment to media at the time.

They reference a lot of Norwegian specific things that are hard to translate without also explaining who this or that person is, what this or that thing is, etc. Tho I'm giving it a try

@@kallehagglund82 It is an old song. Sung by Lalla Carlsen in 1931.

That song is much better when you know what the lyrics mean. Among some of them they mean
"Is this what my tax money is going to" which is what is repeated, and they are talking about immigrants, which is why they are portrayed as demons in the video. Later this is replaced by "Is it YOU who is taking my daughter to the cinema?! Is she a muslim now?" followed by "You´ll never be a scandinavian"
"everyone of you is going to get fucked (knulla), mullah mullah mullah mullah mullah. Mullah is a figutive in norway and has affiliations with terrorists.
the chorus means "if you would have known what would´ve given to look like you, babba look like you, you coward" and "Its so easy to be a rebel in your basement-apartment"
The song was quite controversial when it came out to be honest, which made it even better of course.

(Is this what my tax money goes too?)
Your anker children came, so mocha men can win the lottery?
(Is this what my tax money goes too?)
They said they came from poverty, but could afford a boat here.
(Is this what my tax money goes too?)
Dogs born in barns are neither horses nor farm animals
(Is this what my tax money goes too?)
You’re all made of the same wool
(Everyone’s gonna get fucked)
Mullah, Mullah, Mullah, Mullah, Mullah
You’re all made of the same wool
(Everyone’s gonna get fucked)
Mullah, Mullah, Mullah, Mullah, Mullah
If you only knew what I’d do to be like you
Be like you, baba, be like you
If you only knew what I’d do to be like you, you coward
And it’s so easy being a rebel in your basement apartment
And it’s so easy being a rebel in your basement apartment
And it’s so easy being a rebel in your basement apartment, you coward. (translator's note: this is the part you liked, that build up to the beat drop)
I don’t give a fuck if you’re Tshawe or Vinz or Nico (translator’a note: these are amazing norwegian, black rappers)
(Are you the one that’s taking my daughter to the cinema?)
You might be cool today, but she’ll marry Kygo (translator’s note: he’s a norwegian white EDM artist)
(Are you the one that’s taking my daughter to the cinema?)
You’ve got the hijab in the backseat, Is she gonna become a muslim now?
(Are you the one that’s taking my daughter to the cinema?)
I’m not a racist, but is your passport supposed to like mean something?
(Are you the one that’s taking my daughter to the cinema?)
Picking fruit from our gardens

Picking fruit from our gardens

My boy’s said: «fuck, oh shit, oh damn
Who’s watching the cops, who’s cutting our hair?»
Asking provoking questions, quasi-smart
Drinking Nikka, smoking something that makes them asian
Until someone says every government needs their monkey (translator’s note: this is a wordplay in norwegian. Monkey = Ape, but Ape is also a shortening for a norwegian political party)
Everyone thinks it’s a good wordplay
Because it means two things
And something like that is kind of demanded, yeah
Anders, Anders, Anders Anundsen (translator’s note: a norwegian politician that represents the right winged party Frp)
My black dudes said some smart words:
«Karpe has opened enough doors now, it’s time to close some»
If Arif or Kaveh or the asylum children don’t get in
What the fuck are you gonna do then, bro?
Sy it to Anders, Anders, Anders Anundsen

Yeah, Norway's police is the nicest police ive know.
Så hvis man prøver å være slem mot dem, gå til Beverly Hills.

They would make sense, they just wouldn't rhyme the way they do in Norwegian.

Lene Tvete IT is that music
Background music is Tyga
Hahahah yes
Lene Tvete noooo
Odin Kilen Yeeees
the song by hkeem "fy faen" means "damn" and is kinda like a swear word here in norway. The song made the top lists when the song was dropped and was one of the most listened to songs in norway for a while.
Not just in Norway. I'm from Sweden and lives close to the border and this song was like 2th on the Swedish to list also as best. it's fire
The second song you would like it even more if you knew what they said.
I love how he always is shocked about every song, like we have some bad songs.
But we don’t give you bad songs to react too, like Carpe is amazing🤌🏼😂
I enjoy your content my man, so i put the lyrics through google translate and polished them slightly to be comprehensible. The weird part in "ingenting" seems to not be norwegian, so cant help you there - i guess it is gambian as Blvck O has his roots there. I didnt translate the Karpe Diem song, as the lyrics are quite cryptic. It is loosely based on hateful comments by anonymous people towards immigrants and muslims.
Ingenting (nothing)
Hmm, you say you're bout that action huh?
If the police ask, we don't know what happened
Like: "What's going on?"
"Who’s that?"
I do not know
Just let me be
Riding around with my four G's
We don't talk to the police
Ken do fi wah, manneh nôpil
So féké neh bogga-nga nôki
Or end up on both knees
Sucking long D on the damn streets
Fuck boys can't stand me
Cuz 'i'm way up like palm trees
Got that dank, boy we know about to roll it up (wow)
All my homies stuntin 'when we are in the club (whoop!)
She got a big booty
Told her bust it open
Out in Norway
Just balling like Ginobili
I ain't 2 Chainz, but i (skkrt)
In your bitch face and that's true say [?]
Feeling like Bobby Boucher
Ain't 'giving a fuck what you say
The underdog but i'm way (x4) better than you claim
These bars I spit like Lou Cain
Got you running faster than Usain
Yelling out Free the Camel [local rapper]!
Fuck 112 [police] if they come in here
No Crips, no Blood, no favor here
Swear down you don't want to front in here
Bergen-city got lit this year
Shook the Game, check the Richter scale
Leo hit me like: "remix yeah?"
Had to get it like .. * switch it up *
No one in my click speaks
You are snakes like Bakr
The 'flow' is warmer than satan
I have a bitch, she's beautiful
Smashing her hard, then its good night
My mate throws out packages that are exchanged for money
They don’t understand that the city is Bergen
And I am Mufasa
They wouldn’t believe their ears, so I had to get it on camera
Words to my mate
They where sweet as bananas and pineapples
The way they suck on the balls
I am so Scandinavian '(yeh)
It's still Blvck O, were you taken on the bed [by surprise]?
Yes, I could, but it is all too easy
Nobody here is 'matching' me in English
Can't fuck with me, go away and masturbate
I enter everybody like a BCG [vaccine shot]
Young Malcolm has been born again
They can't do shit before I cool down
Oh my God, this is too savage
Have never seen this before
Dropping bombs, you're Hiroshima
I am the United States in 1945 '
And you know!
(Chorus x2)
If the cops ask: Say nothing
Nothing, nothing, nothing
About why I have diamonds on my pinkie.
Crystals on top of my dangle
Fy faen (literally “shame on you devil”, used in similar way as english speakers use “damn.”)
Because we live to die
Until we melt away like snow
And they look for errors
But I flip my finger
Because I'm making my way
When everyone asks you to stop
Forget it and focus and work
For the jealousy, it burns
Although many bridges have to burn
So not everyone are friends
Damn damn damn
All of them are snakes, so that's quite normal
Damn damn damn
No one here has time for a failure day
Damn damn damn
Everyone gives me a headache these days
Damn damn damn
This is the message through my song
This is the message through my song
This is the message through my song
A few talk a lot
A lot behind my back
Speaks a lot on the mobile phone
Still on it and they are wasting their lives
Change must happen
Know it is cliché
This is not a movie
So sit down and listen when I do my thing
Damn damn damn
Many of my guys have begun to hustle these days
Damn damn damn
Snakes come and go like a boomerang
Damn damn damn
Must show everyone, because I'm sitting on a plan
Damn damn damn
This is the message through my song
This is the message through my song
This is the message through my song
I'll show my enemies
While they are partying and drinking hennessey
I have only day ones, no frenemies
Working 24/7, you know we balling
Make the music they play when we score
Must shoot the gold bird, you know it's over
Too slow out, know you are sleeping
(chorus again)
Ayy man that aint to bad
Like hvis du er norsk❤️🇳🇴
What makes Karpe probably my favourite Norwegian artist is because of their lyrics. You're really missing out man
King Arthur Personally miss their old songs compared to this twisted political stuff. Personal opinion ofc! Their music is still good just not my taste lyrically anymore.

Edit: The fact that this took me so long and i only hav 2 likes makes it nearly not worth it.
**Norwegian person fangirling**
Only me? Okay..
hahahahhahahahaha
Bruh
you will enjoy the songs if you know the lyrics🤙🏿
ALLE SKA BLI KNULLA, MULLA MULLA MULLA MULLA MULLA!!!!
what does mulla mean?
Ela it’s a shorter word or name for a terrorist who were in Norway but we didn’t know wtf to do with him
No nigga the fuck is you smoking
Even Rage jeg døde da
Nei
You totally nailed it when you said “si ingenting” IMPRESSIVE!
bro bro bro. I am from norway, and the last song is, if police aske you something and its like a mafia group you dont say anything to police.
norwgian si ingenting= english dont say anything
What "Si Ingenting" means is: Say nothing. You should checkout the original song named the same but singed by "Kamelen" (this is just a remix)
Si ingenting=say nothing
him just cassually vibing to ''alle skal bli knulla!!!'' im dying!!!!
And the karpe diem song
In "Easy to be rebel in your basement apartment", Karpe Diem takes a strong and controversial settlement with critical and hateful statements about immigrants, a topic that is very relevant in Norway at the moment.
And in the verion you heard at the start you said you didnt know what they said in norwegian but its actually Ken do fi wah, manneh nôpil
, So féké neh bogga-nga nôki where he actually switches it up to Wolof (Senegambian language):
It means that haters should be quiet,
if they would like to keep breathing
and the original song by Kamelen is basicly a song saying fuck the police. So when the police asks, say nothing (hvis snuten spør si ingenting)
More like «Holy Fuck» acording to my friends tho
Maria Bye IT means holy fuck
The first one is fy faen - goddamnit
The song you had playing in the intro/teaser was basicly just about snorting coke.
Im super late to the game, But this song is a very astute and topical criticism of racism and xenophopia in Norway "Anders Anundsen" was our Minister of Justice and Immigration at the time, and he recieved a lot of criticism about his comment to media at the time.
the second song!
@OhhMyDeezy Karpe Diem is all about em lyrics really. Karpe Diem is the guy who made the fire song at 7:10

I really like that you think all the songs are sick but they’re talking about some Sirius problems here in... the world
ingenting by kamelen is the original of si ingenting remix hes also norwegian and listen to beng beng beng by kamelen

@@OhhMyDeezy you should check out the original "si ingenting", its fire
flexi aukan hes remix is the best one
Appreciate your praise on norwegian music! Hilarious to see you trying to understand what they are saying.
Karpe Diem is my all-time fave. Another popular norwegian hip-hop/rap group is "Klovner i Kamp" (direct trans: Clowns in fight/match). My favourites are: "Kjære Fru Ottar" (Dear Mrs. Ottar) is a song about sexism, "Kaninkoker 2" (rabbit boiler 2) is about crazy women.
