    So I ended up buying these at $30 from Amazon and I like them a lot. Very light, a little warm on my ears though. The daisy-chaining allows me to have them in series with my Mac's speakers so I can turn the knob down on those to mute them and put the headphones on when someone else is around who doesn't want to share my audio environment without having to fuss with my Mac's audio output controls or unplug the speakers so I can plug in the headphones. I am not an audiophile but I am certainly hearing details in the music that I miss with my speakers, even the nice speakers that I run from my TV via AirPlay. Like a lot of stuff like this I will probably use them less than I planned when I got them, the wire is a bit of an annoyance and I prefer to have sound in the room rather than in my ears. But they are doing the job I intended for them. Thanks, Craig!

      Thanks for the feedback John. I'm glad you liked them. Yes, the key is $40 bucks. They are pretty good and sound like a $100 pair. With less expensive headphones it is a mystery on how long they will last but hopefully we get a few years out of them. Overall I'm still very happy with them. I'm like you and usually listen to music without headphones but when I do listen to headphones these do the trick. Thanks again for supporting the channel.

    Love these headphones. They benefit from a headphone amp if running off a phone (got a cheap one for 20 on Amazon and they really boost the sound).

      Thanks for sharing and I agree. The amp can help these for sure but they are pretty good out of the box.

    How is it for mixing and mastering?

      They are reference headphones so not bad but again they are $50 or less so not going to maybe be like a $350 pair.

    One of the features of these headphones is the “share port” which allows another audio device to be daisy-chained to the headphones. Can this be used to plug in a set of speakers so that the sound output will go to the speakers and the headphones simultaneously? If so, that would be very useful for me as I could just turn the volume way down on my speakers when I put the headphones on and twist the speaker volume back up when I take the headphones off if I need to walk further than 9.8ft from my Mac. Have you tried that?

    This was very helpful for me, Craig! Thanks for the review, I am researching inexpensive wired headphones and now I am going to take a hard look at these.
    Do you have a suggestion for “best” inexpensive wireless BT headphone for use with newer iPhones and iPads which lack a headphone mini port?

      I can wholeheartedly recommend Bose QC 35 II, They are noise cancelling. When you need ithem for your work you aren’t distracted by any noises around you. When you use them in your free time you will enjoy a fantastic sound. But they are not really inexpensive. $ 230 from Amazon (US). We’ve got two of them in our family because the first set convinced us so much!

      @@franzmostermann4837 Thanks for that, Frank! I’m not enough of an audiophile to need such nice cans, though. I just need to be able to listen to podcasts and news and sometimes some videos without disturbing the people around me, and to take phone calls while I’m doing it. I’m replacing a pair of 10-year-old BT headphones that were pretty basic but fine for my purposes but whose batteries are not replaceable and are beyond end-of-life at this point. Do you have something in the sub-$40 range that you might suggest?

      @@JohnMHammer I’m sorry, John. I have had a wired set from DENON for more than ten years now. The other ones are the BOSE set. I love both of them and don’t user other headphones. Therefore I have no real experience with other headphones. I can’t seriously suggest anything to you, sorry for that. Maybe you want to keep me informed, which one made the race for you? Good luck with your decision!

      @@JohnMHammer BTW why don’t you use a USB-C adapter to use your wired headphones with a newer iPhone or iPad? Here in Germany they are available at Amazon for 10€ which is around $10 in the US. I use such an adapter with my iMac’s thunderbolt 3 port and I am surprised that the sound quality is better than the quality I receive from the headphone port of the same iMac. Might be the best and cheapest solution for you.

    Hey thanks for the great recommendation! I'm looking to get headphones for the korg sv2. It's an electric piano/rhodes. Can you please recommend me a pair that won't leak noise but that still feel very airy when listening to them? So basically closed back that are as close to open back headphones.. I want a natural sound but not too flat that I don't enjoy playing the piano.. I've heard some headphones have an issue with "string residence" sound. Any recommendations for headphones under $200 ?

      @craigneidel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching Elazar. I really cannot recommend anything in that range but I'm sure people who may watch this video can. I just don't have experience with the string residence and headphones and don't want to recommend the wrong thing. I wish you the best of luck and if I come across anything I'll let you know.

    It always depends on your point of view. In this case I wouldn’t go for a cheap set of headphones. You can really hear a difference between cheap and more expensive sets. Of course I don’t know this particular headphone but in general more expensive ones really sound better. Keep in mind that you can use good quality headphones for many, many years. Personally I can recommend Bose QC 35 II.

      Hi Stephen. I agree for sure but since my channel is about finding some good stuff for less money I figured I would try these out. To my surprise they were good. Of course though get the $200 headphones for your lifelong pair. I totally agree buying quality for items like that is better than buying something 5 times. This pair can be for the other times you want to listen to some TH-cam etc. and not a quality DAC. Thanks again for supporting the channel.
