I Found the BEST Microphone For Vocals UNDER $50! Sponsored by... MA
Just got one. Was able to grab it on Amazon for $39.99. No wind screen included with mine. All I can say is wow. Beats most of my $$$$ mics.
Thanks!
It is awesome!!! I ordered another one last week but was surprised by the poor reviews. For the price, this mic deserves nothing but 5 stars in my books 🙌🏻🫡
my microphone just broke in the middle of recording so this video is GODSEND for my music and my morale. THANK YOU!!!
brilliant and thanks for investing for our needs
Great demo. Im all about getting the highest quality gear but when it comes to mics…I dont hear a $3600 difference. The Neumann has a little more depth and dynamic range. But with a tube and a piezo disk I can’t imagine it being hard to build my own for $100 worth of components and putting it in the case of an MA-87. I just don’t know how anything justifies that insane price. Even Marshall stacks are cheaper, and their electronic content and build complexity definitely exceeds what goes into that mic. Atleast that’s my take
I’ve been looking for a case for my TLM102, so definitely huge thanks to you for talking about MelonAudio, haha
Too bad they don't seem to have one with space for the shock mount as well.
dope content as usual
I'm considering buying the MXL V87 mic. No one talks about it but I think its good dupe for the U87.
It’s hard to tell. You always sound good no matter what mic you use.
Thank you so much!!!
His singing is awful what are you talking about ?
The cheaper one is brighter and lacks bottom end. Not bad for that price though.
what in the glaze???
@@ilyxtsy cuzz😂
I wish this had mentioned that it requires a phantom power adapter which is approximately an extra 20 bucks. I was all excited when I bought it only to find that. Guess it's what I get for not reading labels tho. 🤪 Thanks for videos like these! Subbed!
20$ is a pretty bad phantom power and then after that you need a very good input to have remotely good sound . welcome to the world of studio equipment
is it ok tho for low entry people?@@mrpicky1868
Don’t this work with your interface phantom Power?
Thanks much on this rec ... just what I was looking for
Glad I could help!
Bro, whatever mic you use you still sound good.
I just received my Universal Audio Bock 187 microphone. Although I didn’t yet have time to do a side by side comparison, it sounds very similar to my Neumann U87. The only difference being that the Bock is a cardioid pattern only.
They are very similar from what I've heard in demos. The Bock has a bit more highs and lows, not as smooth in top end. Thinking about getting one as well. How do you like it so far?
@@henrikpetersson3463 so far, I love it! It lacks the top end sheen of the U87ai but that’s a bit of a plus for me as sibilance can be an issue with the Neumann. The fat switch on the Bock ads a nice fullness to the tone - even with vocals. Especially nice if you’re used to singing further from a microphone to avoid plosives. Definitely a bargain for the price.
@@sunnyboner676Hi Sunny, could you elaborate more now that a couple of months have gone by? I certainly have watched several videos of the Bock and I love it so far. After the honeymoon phase, how do you like it now?
@@lastcall9998 I love the Bock 187! It definitely is a bit darker than the U87ai and lacks the top end sizzle. As I commented before, sibilance is a bit of an issue for me, so I prefer the Bock. However on certain voices I’d use the U87ai to help bring out the top end on some singers’ voices. If I could only pick one mic out of the two, I’d keep the Bock and buy a couple of other mics with the leftover change. I recently purchased a pair of Austrian Audio CC8 pencil mics. The same could be said of it in comparison to the Neumann KM184 - very similar in nature, but lacks the top end sizzle. If you get the Bock 187, I highly doubt you’d regret your purchase.
beautiful singing voice!
Thank you!!
How come nobody focuses on the density of the pop stopper or the foam that changes ur sibilance and adds warmth ? I think theres some technology there that needs looked into.
WA-47JR VS SE 2200...what is the best?
Extraordinary!
Should I save my money and buy 76 of these? Or one of the good ones?
Can be good for more 3/4 voices in external? (We’re not professionists and we do not want to spend a lot)
Could you give me some advices?
Can you make a longer video abaut this microphone? I really like it and want to know more abaut it befor i buy it!
I will be comparing it to a few more microphones soon 🫡
@@EdwardSmithMusic It's not available on Amazon now.
Nice, good video
you think AKG-P120 or MA-87 which is better ?
I can’t find it in Europe 😔 or many months waiting time and import stuff
Someone got some tips ?
Best one under $50 for sure! but I think the Rode NT-1 is closer to the U87
Can you make a review of BM 900?
Hello Edward, thank you for the information. Any idea where I can buy MA-87 these days. Amazon link is empty. Thank you very much
I’m sure it will be back in stock soon 🫡
Is this mic the same as the Lexsen lex87?
Please, talk about Noise floor, Phantom Power noise, etc. Save us pls!
Can you just tell me honestly. If I can’t feel the difference. Am i have bad ears?? Or maybe just u have good audio interface so it seems there’s no difference(tiny difference) what is your opinion?
On Amazon it says unavailable any other way???
The MA-87 is no joke, I used that Mike before and boi oh boi the quality is really up there.
Facts!!!
Does Melon Audio still sell microphones? I looked on the store and all i saw was the cases, and i don’t want to risk buying a microphone thats this cheap on eBay.
The U87 is a Great Mic!!! I have recorded many songs with it in the Studio!!!
MA-87 doesn't have any resonance. NT-1 has resonance. The Neumann captures the resonance to the detail you can even hear it slowly fall off. Great comparison! Thanks!
@@spiritsavage Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
How does it handle a really loud vocal? Is it prone to clipping?
I wonder too
Hey hey, may I ask what do you feel about ma-87 vs the ma-67? Considering one of them (or maybe both 🌚).
Both microphones are exceptional for the price. I will be doing a comparison between both the MA-67 and MA-87 in March. Stay tuned for that video 🫡
@@EdwardSmithMusic I was wondering the same thing, i'm about to start writing & recording songs again after 11 years, so this is a video i will look forward too with much anticipation, i need a warmer sound as i think my voice is pretty harsh, i used a behringer b-2 when i started writing songs 20 years ago, time for a new one i think, btw you sound fantastic :D
@@EdwardSmithMusic Thank you :) will be looking forward to that video! Currently I have an AT2035 but I find it very dry, hopefully one of these, or the B-2 Pro that is on the way will make it better :)
Please test Rode NTK
"I dont wanna let you go.. so Im standin in your waaahey..." 😅
Good voice but sound very modern and damp. Have some fun with it
can u test out gtz87 for us?
Well it aint $47 now.
The same quality, at least on my 50 USD headphones :)
do you think it’s better than the AT 2020?
I'll have to compare the two to really see, but I have a feeling they might be very similar.
I love your voice.
Thank you!!
I've been using a Hybrid C1 microphone ever since I started making music in 2017 and I'll only change it when it dies on me
Hybrid is that South African brand, right? I'm thinking of getting some cheap dynamic Shure sm57 clone mics (coz I have 2 reference mics, a superlux e205 and some other cheap things) from FTS, or some random WVNGR thingies, due to budget constraints and such. The FTS22 audio interface is surprisingly decent btw. Also, there are effectively dual mono XLR cables (though short) for like R120 at the moment. Also, I'm using Prodipe 3000s for monitoring duties at the moment, they're not the most comfortable (but relatively comfortable) without mods, but they sure do a good job in terms of pretty good linear balance (though I'd prefer more range).
And have a good day.
Oh also, if you can get cheap good 32bit 384khz or better DAC things, I *highly* recommend that. I mean 24 bit 192khz is pretty much minimum for me, trying to listen to varied music or editing/monitoring 16 bit sort of low frequency rate is unbearable for me, it sounds so crap.
@@Frikoppie yes it is, I'll check some out, thanks for the recommedations.
@eme Remember though, your hardware capabilities, circuitry, bandwidth, DAW, OS, plugins, etc will all influence the usability. You might also have/get ground loop sort of issues from EM. So there are a bunch of things to consider. And some of those issues can be very frustrating to diagnose/troubleshoot.
Like there is terrible wiring in this house where I live, and not only, even "leakage" from the neighbour's electric fence that caused "pops" on my PC, coz the grounding wasn't proper, missing isolators, etc.
Even test your plugs/extensions, speakers, combinations of plugs, etc. For instance, that 50/60hz hum is kinda annoying, if you know of thar. So some filtering methods, essentially...other than surge protectors also voltage regulators, ground loop isolators, things like that.
In case you do get like a "dirty" signal, or the 50/60hz hum, one of the first things to do is just to make sure everything connected to your pc is connected to the same plug, basically, if that's possible.
@eme The quality of the DACs also vary significantly. Like the cheaper 32bit 384khz things are gonna be Realtek 4050s, and they have various issues (win10+ only, power state issues causing pops, except when they're buffered and like streaming a song, etc). Hardware specs and circuitry, OS settings, all of that stuff can make huge differences. I know, coz I've got a VERY crappy laptop, VERY old PC and also one of the Realtek 4050 DACs (which is to me, fine for playback on smartphones, etc, but kinda annoying for realtime editing in a DAW, as my hardware capabilities aren't great, EM interference issues, etc).
Have a good day.
Can you please do a review to the MA-67 from Melon Audio too!!!
I will definitely do a comparison of these two microphones soon!
awesome man, I look forward to it!
How can this be?
Is it better than the Scarlett solo microphone?
Might be a good idea to do a comparison 💪
@@EdwardSmithMusic
Please, do so.
Thank you.
What is better MA- 87 or mackie em 97 cu?
The MA-87 for sure 🫡
I bought it, got problems like buzzing noise when touching it and idk like electricity problem, so I refunding it with Amazon...
the u87 is still better than both but with an over 3000 dollar difference? im not so sure
Which software are you using ?
Cubase Pro
WOW! 🧐
I have a Akg p120 should i upgrade or still use it some advice please
What upgrade do you have in mind?
With a MA-87 or the Akg p120 is ok compared
@@blingdizzo1200 I would upgrade to something like a Lewitt LCT 440 Pure… The MA87 isn’t much of an upgrade 🫡
Can you use a cellphone instead of a laptop to record music
Certainly. As long as your interface is compatible.
@@henrikpetersson3463 okay tthanks
Just bought the ma 87
And what do you think of him? Is it worth buying?
My favorite is the NT1-A the MA doesn't sound professional enough
Video made them reconsider their pricing? Unavailable now 😂
NT1a❤
Thus might cause some rappids... 😂
Dang. Can't find an MA 87 anywhere
Melon Audio let me know they will restock this mic within the next 2-3 Weeks
Awesome! Wow, thanks for checkin, I'll keep an eye out.
@@EdwardSmithMusic
3:25 lol
MA7 sounds baddd! I like the NT1, but the u87 sounds amazing…. Can’t compare ! Ur for art! Anything works! At the end the mic is your part of it!!!!
2 stars on the provided store page
Cant get these mics anymore… what a bummer
They should restock them soon.
3:17 Me, an Intellectual: *GRAPHIC EQ*
i can hear the difference. just use the most expensive and sing. sing. sing. sing.sing. please.
Guess there's no USB version? 🤔
It literally costs 80€ in my country😢
Honestly
Can't tell the difference too much
Microphone + box + aftershave..
You cant review a product and have them sponsor the video
Gone
No difference... Or very tiny.
start singing with your own voice
dude, I just watched another mic vid from you. You are a mic shill 100% I wouldn't take your shill advice if you paid me.
Lmao how much did this company pay you?
I think you bought the fake one :)))
It doesn't even have good reviews. Stop this nonsense man.
I just had a look at the reviews, and I'm shocked some people gave this mic a one star rating (I see the person that gave a one star review isn't even a verified purchaser so not too sure what's going on there). TBH, there is no way this microphone is bad for the price. Also, some of the complaints regarding the plastic shock mount is fair, but overall, I truly believe this is a dope $50 mic for budget vocal recording.... I think if you bought one and tried it, you would agree with me... 💪🏻
Throw this mic in the trash and never use it again. its garbage
Maybe just talk into the mic please don’t ever sing again
Whats your problem dude. He can do what he wants. He can sing with the tools he has and trying the best at it. At least got the b+++ to go out and sing and make it. What you been doing? Nothing
Agreed. Reminds me of Coldplay.
Amazon: Currently unavailable 🥲
I had a chat with Melon Audio regarding this exact issue. According to them, the items will be available for purchase within the next 7 days, so you should be able to get the item soon. 🫡
