I can imagine only for this scenario: When you're in your late 70s, the kids are all married, their kids are about to go to university, and you're sitting in your living room with your spouse (if you're lucky enough to still have one!!), and this music plays on December 28th or 29th, (one of those hell days between Christmas and New Year), while you reminisce about your youth, what you once had, and how now it's all racing away from you... bittersweet indeed. I have a feeling a lot of whisky is going to be needed in my later years haha, to dull the aching longing and yearning...
Then again, the series always have the best ice level themes in gaming. Even Tropical Freeze has some amazing ice level themes as well, especially Forest Folly and Frozen Frenzy being my favorites. ⛄️
Snakey Chantey had it worse, only being used once (well, technically, more like one and a quarter). But still, music this atmospheric and gorgeous deserves to be played more.
Actually, it's used four times! Once in the special world level at Krem Quay, twice in K. Rool's Keep and once in K. Rool's Keep special world level - specifically its second section.
Definitely one of the best, but not the best to me. For me the level songs that are better are Forest Interlude, Stickerbush symphony, Krooks March, flight of zinger, and bayou boogie. Then again this has probably the best soundtrack I’ve ever heard in any game so it was hard to even place some of those tracks above it like flight of zinger and bayou boogie.
What makes this song so special though is that it's only used a few times. One of my favorites of DKC2 as well. Brings me back to my childhood. So beautiful.

Always love the soundtrack in DKC 2 i remember i used to play this game on my old SNES back in 2007 when i was 13/14 still in middle school in 7th or 8th grade one of my favorite games on the SNES wish i still had my original copy and SNES console but ended up selling it towards newer games back in the day kinda regret but i just make due with a emulator even though it not the same experience as playing on the Original hardware but at least i could still play the game.

This is pretty much how the OG sounds out of modern speakers, I feel like these "remasters" tend to lose a lot of the charm, these songs were meant to be played on SNES hardware

Why are the ice themed areas in this trilogy so soothing? Of all of them, this is my second favorite after Frosty Frolics on III.
I've always imagined a cave with Icicles emitting sound waves, with neon lights, pulsing in sync to the music.
