In this one, I visited The Turdor Lodge Hotel in Redcar.
I was surprised at how bad this place was... I genuinely wasn't expecting this & on first glance, it didn't look too bad.

If they're running a service no matter what they charge, cleanliness should be a priority. The size of the room, the amenities are only a bonus but cleanliness isn't.

This takes me back. My stepmum used to own a guest house in Redcar when I was a teenager. I think it might even have been on that same steet. It was great because me and my sister would go have a night out on the high street then let ourselves in to sleep it off in one of the empty rooms. It was for the best that she sold it as she used to do cooked breakfasts and dinners so she never had any free time with all the cooking and cleaning.

I would have taken the Duvet down to him and said "What the bloody hell is this" then chucked it at him. Hate to think what was was UNDER the bed. You looked so smart, looked like you were off to a wedding. Looking forward to your next Video.

The only somewhat safe way to cope with beds like this is to bring a sleeping bag and sleep in it.
Agreed & will be doing that moving forward
It doesn't matter how much a room costs....basic cleanliness is imperative! Sorting the bed base isn't a big job. Adding mattress and pillow protectors not expensive. Clean bedding not hard to do. Adding a cheap kettle and an an assortment of tea and coffee isn't going to break the bank! And a thorough deep clean of both the bedroom and the bathroom - would only take a couple of hours. Add some clean towels to both the room and the bathroom. Job's a good un. But it's a shame the owner didn't see anything wrong! That attitude won't get them business. Oh well! Onto the next. 😊

I used to live on that road and the homes are now mostly HMOs both Tudor Lodge and No.9 (other side of the road) have been equipped for recently released people. Constantly being raided and for those of us that had single family homes, we were run out by the high crime rate and number of break-in/ drug related crimes happening around the street. The homes were lovely but landlords saw more profit in converting to bedsits. So glad to get out of the street.

ALTHOUGH ON THE SMALL SIDE THE ROOM ITSELF DID NOT LOOK TOO BAD, BUT LIKE THE BATHROOM HAD HYGIENE ISSUES, BUT WE HAVE SEEN WORSE IN BLACKPOOL.

I should probably film myself regularly washing my hands with the soap in a squirty bottle thing (as I do) but 100% ill be defo buying a LARGE amount of rubber gloves!

Get thi’sen a sleeping bag liner and something to put over the pillow in case you get more pillows/duvets like that. Some of them look like the chromatography experiments we did on blotting paper in science at school! 🤢🤣

I travel on my own quite often and that’s exactly why I always book for 2 people. I want a double bed and a room larger than a prison cell. A couple of bad experiences booking a single room and lesson learned!! In your defence, that definitely was a room for a dwarf 🤣
I’ve heard bad things about the OYO hotels so I steer clear of them. They’re never going to be luxury 😂And I’m not sharing a bathroom with anyone 🤢 I’m far too old for that crap and I expect at least a basic level of comfort and cleanliness.

I'm guessing there may have been a 'communal' living space, perhaps with access to a kettle. But then you'd have to carry your hot drink back to your room, not ideal. We may never know....;-))

The good reviews are from 5 yrs ago. It's gone down hill since the last owners left. It stood empty for 2 years. It's an eyesore in the street😱
On initial first impression it didn't look as bad and depressing as the one in Blackpool, then 10-20 seconds later you start to notice it get suddenly worse!!
A shared towel ain't all that bad...just depends on whom you are sharing the towel with :P
Also, I said it in the last vid and the live one......start putting post it notes on everything bad!!.....it's not as if you have to worry about going back and bumping in to the owner again lol , so your hhalf way there by leaving everything dirty out!
For the people going on about what does one expecct for £29 quid, well here's some context, I only checked a date in 2 weeks time so could get one sooner for same price
Premier Inn (Beach) Blackpool (South Shore) - £35 quid for Standard non refundable
Premier Inn Blackpool Bispham - £39 quid for Standard non refundable

Just out of my own curiosity I checked the newer Premier Inn at North Pier to give a bit more context on what one should expect for a price
Standard Room £43, Prem Plus £53 same night non refundable rate. But you have to be lucky on the night one books to get the cheapest possible with so much fluctuation!

Oh dear, that wasn't good at all. Proper clean around the toilet would have improved the bathroom a bit. I reckon they just didn't care about things like that. If you had been brave enough to stay overnight I reckon you would have rolled out of that bed. Very smart by the way, your much too good and nice to be staying in these dirty rooms. One thing to note I have never been in Redcar but always have wanted to go but some day I will.
Glad and happy you left as I would have been depressed if I stayed there the night unless I was drunk then I would not care.

Sorry but cleanliness is a basic requirement! And that shared bathroom, I mean YURRRRRRRLECH! Also the flipping bed was BROKEN and not fit to sleep in, which again is a BASIC REQUIREMENT, especially when it’s a HOTEL/B&B… I mean one of the B’s in that stands for BED!!!!

Errr that is gross not using pillow or mattress protectors, i net they never vacuum the mattress either. The mattress will be full of dust and dust mites and other detritus.
Aye .that place is a bit of a hovel. A dive. The yale cylinder on bedroom door fitted upside down. And on inside mismatching lock and keep. Of different colours .
It has to be clean thats the most important thing and staff should be there to greet guests

You might of ended up at our place when we first opened we were only charging £29 we were based near Saltburn-By-The Sea and it would of been handled alot better than this 😂 sadly that’s Redcar for you, can say thou there are plenty of nice places up this way so hopefully your be able to try them out.

@@AdamsRottenRooms would of happily of welcomed you but we sadly were put into a position to have to close our doors, I won’t name the two big companies that we used for customers to book, but they were at the time of opening taking 15% commission and it went up to 25% from April 1st making it near impossible for us to keep prices fair which was our goal, so rather than go solo and risk it on our own insurance which we could of done, we decided to close but we did so with a perfect 5/5 rating and having met some lovely customers along the way. There are plenty of places round this way that are worth trying so hopefully your be vlogging about them in no time, great vlog as always, it’s a shame the owner didn’t handle the situation regarding the room well at all or take any accountability it seemed.

I reckon that cup and saucer are to put your dentures in then..ummm...stir them? 😂 Confession though...my lounge cushions are the same pattern as that bedding. My lounge does looks better than that pokey place though. And i actually clean it. You'd get seasick sleeping in that wonky bed. And id so be taking my toilet duck and bottle of Dettol staying there...and maybe a hoover! 😂
