This video was your masterpiece Tim.
I thought of Towering Inferno when I saw the wiring. I thought of Creep when you were stuck on that floor alone and couldn’t get a lift out.
I thought of Platform when you showed the view down through the floors. Actually the food was a reminder of that video nasty too.
We loved the piano piss take story time.
Overall I didn’t know Britannia operated out of Arabia but maybe they do?
The positives? The view was outstanding although the blue building tea cosy thing is hideous. The light and gold on first entering - 😢once you’ve opened the shades - was breathtaking. At first before you’d shown then rest of the hotel I thought you’d checked into a Chris Nolan movie or Elysium.
Congratulations on an epic trip to Dubai.

One myth has been dispelled for me from watching your videos. I used to think that people who could afford to spend multiple thousands of dollars on lodging for just a night or so were secretly treated to a world I'll never know - one of gleaming interiors, impeccable service, and wall-to-wall perfection. The surprising truth is that even the super rich need to carefully seek out the few places that really embody that description. A hotel simply being sky-high expensive doesn't mean it isn't really just a sad, run-down place, painted gold.

I used to work as a cleaner in a hotel, we each had a floor and we'd do "quick cleans" every day/every checkout; change bed, clean bathroom, change bins, hoover, make sure cups and stuff was clean, dust etc, but we'd do one room a week of deep clean, and this meant every wall has to be cleaned, every piece of furniture had to be moved and cleaned behind, we'd also hoover the corridor of the rooms last at the end of the day, this penthouse hasn't been deep cleaned in a very very long time, if ever.

This is definitely my take, knowing the standards of Dubai since 2002, this is definitely an Asian standard - sorry to say! Hanging the large Tv on a pillar, wires hanging out, sockets near water areas and ‘tin foil’ to seal a gap gave it away! 😂😂😂

@@kitty16vcat11 I agree and glad you commented. I would have said the same but probably come across all wrong.
I got the impression this hotel isn't geared toward 'western' guests. The prayer mat, copy of the Koran, no alchohol. No cooking as spicy food can permeate. The paratha bread for breakfast.
Everything is blingy, but no finesse, no attention to the finer details, things left to deteriorate.
There are similar run hotels in my neck of the woods. All shiny and mirrors, but you have to accept the rough or unfinished bits behind the scenes. Fine if you're ok with that, but not for everyone

    • @kitty16vcat11
      @kitty16vcat11 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

@@mrglide7078 in all honesty, the prayer mat, Koran, no alcohol isn’t a problem for me at all, and being in a Muslim county that should be expected. It’s like when you still find a Bible in the drawer in a ‘’Christian’ County hotel - not gonna say anything right! I
t’s the HEALTH AND SAFETY that got me, having no alcohol too is definitely something that I like as I don’t get disturbed all night by obnoxious drunken rebels who disregard or disrespect the county that they are visiting. If I really want to continue with my daily habits then I certainly won’t choose a country or hotel that has restrictions.
On a different argument, I try to fly on airplanes that serve no alcohol as once i flew business class with a drunken elderly man who was beating up and spiting on fellow passengers, it was very terrifying to say the least as my seat was two rows away from him! I’d rather be next to a screaming baby in economy, I wish alcohol was banned on ALL airplanes, but that’s another story 😏

I know that area of Dubai and it is a slightly older part of the city with older buildings, so Im not surprised by the wear and tear. Also, the cleaning staff are all philipino and are no doubt over worked and very under paid. It looked like a beautiful suite once upon a time, but Id say theres been a few parties in that room over the years, hence the stains. The cleaners def need a service elevator and the penthouse, should have had its own dedicated lift. Great video, but it def doesn't compare to the atlantis the royal ... it was amazing !

The kettle and coffee machine look cheap. Also, the curtains have to do it manually iso electronic. No TOTO bidet... I agree, what's the point of a hob if cooking is not permitted. Why is there a long dining/meeting table with chairs in the master bedroom? Overall, very underwhelmed and tacky to the max. The only consolation is the rooftop pool with a nice view. Lastly, the hotel cleaning staff should not be using the guest lifts, they have a separate lifts for them.

It has a cinema, Hollywood-themed rooms (quirky), nice restaurants and bars, a relaxing pool area, plus more. I just don't get why Dubai is obsessed with gold!
    Very tacky, imo.

Taste is subjective , cultural & regional ... you're just brainwashed by Western trends ...
That being said, something is really off about this hotel ...

Crazy mix of splendour and neglect. This theme repeats itself in many of Tim's hotel vids especially Britannia hotels but also some luxury hotels too. You can see Tim's frustration levels rise as the video progresses, Not a lot worked properly did it.
Must say that the the positives were really exceptional such as the swimming pool with bar , the views and agree the number 1 bedroom was the best.
Thanks for an intriguing video Tim ! Perhaps a whole video of Tim singing coming up? like a musical tour lol.

I would love to see videos from you showing the actual travel destinations themself instead of only the hotel videos. Like you did in Zakynthos last year!
