I was given inspiration for at least 3 art pieces from watching/listening to Elton sing about Bennie; this song & video can really get the creative juices flowing
This video, while weird, is absolutely brilliant. Elton once described Bennie as a "sci-fi rock goddess", which doesn't really tell you much. This video, however, features multiple versions of Bennie. But, Elton being gay, every Bennie here fits what Elton is attracted to. Each Bennie is a different idea of a sci-fi rock god. The video may be odd and strange, but the history behind it turns it into a genius work of art.
This video finally captures the essence of the song. These images totally deliver the vision that would have been, back to the 70's. Learning from my precious vinyl and diamond needle, this totally transcends..
I actually really liked the video, it felt very different and much more out there compared to the other videos but still was pleasant to watch and probably my favorite of the 3, sad to see so many people dislike it.
Elton John was an icon....I saw him when I was 15 years old....I'm 59 now...at Greensboro....with my step father...I had the coolest step fathers in the world...that concert was so amazing
Researching more about it i found out the jets are her automaton servants they are pretty much bennies servants and back up band and this was a contest to who would get the role elton described her as a futuristic rock godess

A #1 hit for Elton John in April 1974. It also hit #1 on the Cash Box charts and in Canada. It went to #15 on the Rhythm & Blues charts. It went to #5 in Australia, #13 in New Zealand, and to #18 in Ireland.
I watched this at first thinking it didn’t fit the song, I also thought it ruined the song but now that I have watched it a few times I love it! This video actually made me enjoy the song more. I absolutely love it!
I am still not sure if it "fits" quite right, but I have definitely had it grow on me to the point that it IS the official video. They don't always fit exactly the story of the song...

Love it!! It's a contemporary take on Sir Elton's original inspiration for the song and his opinion of the current music scene. I can see why he chose this video as the winner for this song.
I love the cinematography in this, the story, emotion, plot? It’s absolutely breathtaking and something that should not be underrated. Along with the song. Plus, this looks like such fun. More than well done.
The plot is interesting. I'm starting to think the competition was to figure out who will entertain her for the next like 1,000 years or something after watching it a few times XD. I wonder if anyone ever asked Elton what the meaning is in an interview. We can speculate wildly of course but I get this strange feeling it has a meaning that only he knows behind it. It's so out there. It had to have come to him in a dream or something yet it fits perfectly in an odd way
I'd watch a full-length movie based on this music video. The great mystic Bennie looking for her backing band characters; culminating in a game-show like contest at its climax.
I am an old timer yet love the artistic direction, hommage old movies and ultra modern/sci fi edge to it. It's genius and doesn't detract from enjoying Bennie in whichever interpretation it may play in your mind's eye. However, to appreciate the mise en scene one has to have an eye and sensibility for it.
Since I was 12 my mind went with the image from the album - some kind of mod/pop rocker chick with three slick looking guitar players holding Flying V's.
I love this. Others probably do this too (so I hope it doesn't sound weird), but when I'm listening to music I tend to make 'mental music videos' for the songs. And all my life, every time I did that with this song, it was *_always_* in black and white. So I loved this even more for that. Great job!
I do that too but this song never had that. It's always been that weird but wonderful song I could never compare to anything. "That Bennie and the Jets song sounds a lot like Bennie and the Jets."
I’m sure I’m not the only one that has to play this song a couple of times in a row. It’s timeless. A masterpiece.

Hey kids, plug into the faithless
Maybe they're blinded
But Bennie makes them ageless
We shall survive, let us take ourselves along
Where we fight our parents out in the streets
To find who's right and who's wrong

The 70's were hands down the best decade for music in the last century. Let's just start with Elton John. And then the list just keeps on going.

Shout out to all the real music lovers who came here after Kendrick Lamar dropped his song, and just needed to hear the original ❤.
Let's not forget this great song was also sampled by Mary J Blige on her 1999 self tiltle album " Mary" song called " Deep inside"
That's why I'm here 😂😂. I'm like this sounds like the Piano Man himself!

Yesssss!! I told my husband that beat sounds so familiar and here I am!!❤ genius
@@Galacticator which song?
Sooo, the song is so classic and so timeless that 40 years after it was released we decide to make a video? Yeah, that's Sir Elton.
One of the very best songs. No sure about the vid but Elston was always a video in himself. Pure pleasure.
To see something as this in 1973 would have been mind blowing,Elton has always been light years ahead of us.Thank You Sir Elton!
Lyrics: Bernie Taupin
Music: Elton John
just sayin...
This is a new video
Lightyears are lengts

The more I watch the more I appreciate the skills in the actors in this video, mixed superbly with the song.
Love it!! It's a contemporary take on Sir Elton's original inspiration for the song and his opinion of the current music scene. I can see why he chose this video as the winner for this song.
This was phenomenal! I really dig the 70s sci-fi vibe. I was rooting for Jet. and Benny.. wow.
It had to have come to him in a dream or something yet it fits perfectly in an odd way
Hey same last name

I'd watch a full-length movie based on this music video. The great mystic Bennie looking for her backing band characters; culminating in a game-show like contest at its climax.
Im so excited for tonight !!! To see Sir Elton John ❤ in Vancouver
This is just art i see
Just now I was mesmerized
This video is so weird and crazy I love it!
What a beautiful video.. wonderful display of human art with no filter
Elton is the Best! ;-)
Muy bueno

This beat goes so hard.
Most of the people here are middle age and don’t know what it means if something “goes hard”
But it does though Elton was truly a sigma male
Alchemist flipped this song really well on Meet The Grahams

*** Sir Elton 🙏 🙌 👏 👌 ❤ John *
is a true musical 🎼 🎶 ❤ genius *
whom I sincerely admire!!!
Here before the movie Rocketman gets Elton a handfull of new fans ;)
Adam Prud'homme me too ;)
Hahahahaha same
I hope everyone is
Adam Prud'homme. Dude, I've been a Elton fan since I was 6.
Adam Prud'homme me too
2023 and only seeing this video now. Wow! Love it!!
😢that’s beautiful
This song is so eternaly great. listening to music is one of the most beautiful aspects of being alive ❤️
This has been my earworm for the past 24 hrs. So what do I do, listen to it again..😂😂
Since I was 12 my mind went with the image from the album - some kind of mod/pop rocker chick with three slick looking guitar players holding Flying V's.

This slow motion shot at 1:06 is gorgeous.
Big fan of this video
I was 5 years old in 1973 and when I hear this song, and think of a visual, I always thought of 70's glam rock stars on stage.
Such an incredible video. Talent for talent. Laura, Jack and Elton. What a team! 👍🏻✌🏼
*The Costumes are a masterpiece, The Video is a masterpiece, and This Song is a masterpiece*
I love this. Others probably do this too (so I hope it doesn't sound weird), but when I'm listening to music I tend to make 'mental music videos' for the songs. And all my life, every time I did that with this song, it was *_always_* in black and white. So I loved this even more for that. Great job!
lumariadp love the black and white video I have always liked black and white photographs I feel they evoke a more natural sense of connection.
lumari
lumariadp I also do that 😂
I completely agree!
I do that too but this song never had that. It's always been that weird but wonderful song I could never compare to anything. "That Bennie and the Jets song sounds a lot like Bennie and the Jets."
My absolute favourite Elton John song - perfection
I love the Busby Berkely style!
My Grandbaby would live/love this!
