This or the Champion 3400 Dual Fuel and why? Which has better customer service: Champion or Westinghouse? I read a lot of complaints that Westinghouse doesn't honor their warranty very well. Is this true? I would be using this for home backup power.

For the money, its hard to argue against the Westinghouse iGen 4500: amzn.to/2vRSkd1

Thanks for making these vids on this generator. Could you please show how far the remote will reach and whether or not it will start it from inside a vehicle. Thanks

Yes, it will start from within the RV. See the video here: th-cam.com/video/IrldGnjm1Qg/w-d-xo.html

So glad I found this. I was about to pull the trigger on a Champion dual fuel. But the remote start feature of this one is changing my mind.

It looks like it’s been a year since you got the DF version. Still love it? Satisfied with the propane functionality? I guess at the moment I’m looking at this and the champion DF and while there do seem to be some horror stories, Those can be found with most products these days.

looking for recommendations on a power for our toy hauler. 1 ac, and run fridge on propane. really only need power for night time a/c use or some microwave tv use . been looking at the Westinghouse 4500df, and 2200 in parallel. would like the quietest option for nite time use by others, whats better, 2 small or one large? im not Westinghouse brand specific either, seen many bad reviews. thanks.

Is that a 13,500 or 15,000BTU AC? If you're only running one AC, the 4500: amzn.to/2Ds0Gc1 should handle it. Paralleling a 4500 with a 2200 would be pointless as the parallel cord only has 30 amp receptacle as does the 4500. Therefore, you wont get more power out of the parallel set up compared to the 4500 alone. However, I have been told by Westinghouse that a 50 amp parallel cord should be released this summer.

After hours of research, I decided to definitely get one of these. They're not available! So I emailed Westinghouse, I called them multiple times - with no answer to either. Major bummer. I then read that Westinghouse got bought out - the power generation division by Siemens. Who knows what's going on there.

I received delivery of an iGen4500 Dual Fuel January 4th, 2019. The automatic choke didn't work, either with gas or propane. Westinghouse said they would send me a new control module so I could fix it myself. That, or I could take it to a repair shop.
They did not offer to send a replacement unit.
It also had a non-working Efficiency Mode switch. When running without a load, the RPMs never changed when turning the switch on or off It would keep running at idle speed. In other words, the switch did nothing. It was stuck in efficiency mode and would only increase its RPMs when a load was added. The Westinghouse tech said that is how the Efficiency Mode switch works. The manual contradicts what the tech said.
What good is the Westinghouse warranty when something goes bad and they insist it is working properly?
I don't like smoke getting blown up my arse so I returned it to HD. I'll not be buying another Westinghouse anytime soon.

Dang, sorry to hear you had issues. This definitely doesn't sound like the experience we have had with their support to date. There definitely is a switch allowing to switch on/off the economy mode. Our original Westinghouse 4500 went 22k miles in the back of our truck and is still going. I wish they would have got you sorted out. Thanks for sharing your experience.

@@generatorpower7744 ofcourse you wont be having any trouble with Westinghouse. We are average consumers and dont have a good way of ruining the Westinghouse name as we are not reputable youtubers. Westinghouse gives us shit and treats you like a king

I like to think that is not the case, but I see what you're saying. As I've said many times in the past, I'm more than willing to reach out on behalf of a viewer to try and help. It's worked many times in the past. If you all have any issues (with any manufacturer for that matter) give me a heads up, I'll try my best.

@@generatorpower7744 Thanks for acknowledging my reply. I was already aware of the bad choke issue before I ordered my unit. But I figured I would try to beat the odds and deal with the problem if I did get a bad unit. What really put me off and wash my hands of Westinghouse was the tech's response when I told him about the Efficiency Mode switch that didn't do anything.
To provide some greater detail, I explained that when the generator was not under load and the switch was set to OFF, the generator was only running at idle. This was contrary to what the user manual stated. My iGen4500DF would only increase its RPMs if I added a load. I told him I planned to run my RV A/C unit with the iGen4500DF. My concern was with it at idle, the A/C unit would demand too much initial draw when the generator was at idle because of the defective switch. It would overload the generator and cause it to stop running altogether.
That should have been a fairly clear explanation of my defective switch. Instead, he said that was normal. He further explained I should manually add a load to the generator before turning on the A/C compressor. He suggested turning the A/C fan on first to bring the RPMs up before turning on the A/C compressor. If the switch was working properly so the RPMs were already a full speed that step would be completely unnecessary. What he was telling me was I was supposed to turn on the fan, or leave it on, prior to each time the A/C unit cycled.
IMO, Westinghouse is knowingly shipping out units of which a large portion are defective. They are so overwhelmed with these defective units that they will lie to their customers in order to persuade them to keep them.
There are many positive features to the iGen4500DF on paper. Remote start, dual fuel. 4500 watts peak, electric remote start, etc. On the other hand, changing oil is made ridiculously difficult with its offset drain plug and a battery wire that is stretched too tight and gets in the way. Also, propane efficiency is abysmal. In order to reach the 1st oil change at 20 hours I went through TWO recently filled 20 pound (5 gallon) propane tanks under a 1000 watt load and only reached about 16 hours of run time. I had to switch to gas to reach 20 hours.
Under no circumstance would I now recommend the dual fuel version. It costs way too much to run the iGen4500DF with propane.

@Ricky Ricardo … probably a good move. I just got mine that was purchased through Lowes today. The side of the case is scratchy looking and it took me 30 minutes or more to get it to even run. I am not very pleased. I have a feeling these generators are garbage.
