Listening to you list all of the things going on in your life makes me realize just how huge Nerdfighteria has become, and how awesome it is that you and John manage to consistently put out content in so many different ways.
this is probably one of my favourite hank videos. he's just so enthusiastic. also vlogbrothers videos would be pretty intense in 3D with all that finger pointing.
hank, i've worked in retail optics for about a decade now, and yes, the quality control often leaves much to be desired, mostly because the companies are more interested in profit than in paying their employees a living wage or giving their customers a quality product, at least consistently. this is not to say that customer service isn't a priority, it's just not at the top of the list. like in pretty much every other industry. go figure.
Wow, I actually didn't realize how busy you were. This video has actually been quite inspiring for me - thanks for reminding me that it's always a good thing to get off your ass and get stuff done!
My first comment in the land of Nerdfighteria! I just spend the last week and a half watching all the videos on this channel, and I am excited to start participating as a Nerdfighter in training. I have nothing of value to add at the moment, I just wanted to share my excitement about being a new member to the community of awesome. I'm just sad I didn't find you guys and the Nerdfighters earlier!!
1. Seems I do Christmas shopping for my Nerdfighter friends early this year due to the wonderful $3 shipping sale 2. When I get my paycheck I will be purchasing VidCon tickets as well as a preorder of The Fault In Our Stars 3. I feel the need to play Super Mario Bros. Now THANK YOU HANK DFTBA!
Yes! I was just wondering about Project for Awesome. I'm super excited to actually be involved this year. :) It's the reason I finally made a channel last year, so I could comment and like and such.
John, I can identify with that. I do so many things that just pop into my head and that leaves me with no time for anything else...unless that anything else pops into my head and then I make time somehow. Just like I'm working toward starting a charity, thanks in large part to you and Hank. I'll say it again, Thanks John and Hank, for all that you do to decrease world suck.
Haha. Committed to a magician indeed. What would the world be like without you? So glad you're rocking and rolling in life! So stoked for SciShow, Crash Course, Project for Awesome, and VidCon! Again, what would the world be like without Hank Green? DFTBA. - Joshua
I got a little nervous when Hank said that Vidcon was more than half sold out, but then I remembered that I bought tickets THE DAY AFTER IT LAUNCHED and that I'M GOING TO VIDCON 2012 and meeting the man that humps things, wears dresses, and reminds me every other Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to never forget to be awesome. :)
This is the like the golden age of hankgames. And this video is full of awesome stuff! And damn do I wish I could go to vidcon. EVERY SINGLE YEAR I WATCH YOU GUYS HAVE FUN AND FEEL SAD :'( Nah it's sad but I enjoy watching you guys have fun with other youtubers. It's awesome.
Perfect thumbnail since the thing which first caught my eye was the Assassin's Creed poster and it made me consider watching your Let's Play despite having only played 3/4 of the first game.
I think Vidcon should come to the east coast next year. Whaddaya say? Yeah, I know it would be a million dollars, but it would make my DREAMS COME TRUE. I think that's a worthwhile compromise.
Yes! For the first time I don't have school for P4A! I only have a community club meeting for an hour, but it still counts as charity so it's all good :)
Ugh how frustrating. I get my prescription from usually a doctor at walmart, but then I order online from a canadian company and get glasses anywhere from 8-50 dollars a pair. I have like 6 pairs all different and fun. All my glasses have been awesomely wonderful and perfect prescription. Hope they get your glasses worked out then give you a major discount.
@danceandrevolution I definitely support number 4. Especially with specialization businesses like this. Besides, I notice a higher quality of business with local smaller ones because they truly do appreciate you. You honestly put food on their table. Person at store chain X will get a paycheck regardless for the most part. Not downgrading anyone's customer service abilities for those who do work at chain X, it's just something I noticed since being in Japan where huge chains hardly exist.
Wow I'm exhausted just listening to all the stuff you've got going on. You know what I have going on in my life? Nothing, watching tons of youtube videos, and then more nothing. With the occasional video game thrown in just for variety. I have to say that the Hankgames videos of you and Katherine playing Mario Wii have consistently been the funniest videos I've watched in a long time.
Yes, I acknowledge that this is Hank's video, but John, I have a quote I think you'd like: "Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever." - Napoleon Bonaparte
I know lots of people hate the facial hair, but I still love it! It's adorable on you! I say forget the haters... do what you and Katherine like. (Or is it Catherine? Or some other spelling? I'm so bad at names...) Seriously, the facial hair is cute!
@vlogbrothers Thanks John :) I was aware that the channel was up and running, I knew it had been a while since he up loaded one. I know you two are both very busy and I appreciate what you do for nerdfighteria ^___^ I wasn't sure if my script got through since I was having difficulties but, I just need to be patient and wait to see :)
I think this beard is perfectly appropriate for the kind of man that Hank is now. He's the wacky local neighborhood entrepreneur inventor guy who can spend his entire video for the day just listing off some of the projects he's been working on. He's the kind of guy that can just invent businesses and products on a whim and make them happen.
Hank, you have to be the BEST spouse ever, because it doesn't matter to you how hard and time consuming everything is as long as you get time to play Mario with your wife! It's adorable!
Haha! I bought my VidCon tickets last week and I swear I'm still FREAKING OUT that I will be able to go! And yeah. I kinda inferred that "frustrated" was not the word used. lol
oh wow, i cracked up twice in this one, once for the commitment to the magician, and and the second time for the f-word not being "frustration." this is a good video.
NOT SPAM: I get my glasses at Zenni Optical. It is an online-only company and you choose the frames you like, the options you like, and plug in your prescription and get them in a few weeks. Oh did I forget the most important part?! Yes I did! I used to go to Lenscrafters and my glasses were like $300-500... my Zenni glasses were $50.
"Hugo" was awesome! And "The Invention of Hugo Cabret" was also awesome! I only have one major complaint about the movie (I can't remember if this was in the book), but they completely skated over the fact that Thomas Edison stole credit and profits from George Melies for "From the Earth to the Moon"
Going by my knowledge of random Star Wars stuff... I would have to say that the action figure (brown and tan robes) that is ever-present behind his head would have to be the Eeth Koth figurine from the "Battle Pack" of Chancellor Palpatine's office. There is a stand-alone Eeth Koth figurine, but that one is much more motion-oriented, whereas Hank's (and the Battle Pack's version) has his arms at his sides. I could be wrong, but that's my theory.
Did anyone notice the awesome spark across the frame caused by hank's silver ring at 2:14? Check it out !! now!! (happens during the word "amazing"). Amazing indeed!
There is quality control with glasses here in Germany, the problem is you need to wait about 3 months to get an appointment with an Eye Doctor to get your subscription, which is why i don't have glasses though i need a pair.
@MarNieCo It's prescription not subscription. If you had a subscription for glasses that would be like your eye doctor sending you a new pair of glasses in the mail every month. A prescription is a specific pair of glasses designed for your specific vision problems.
I love Super Mario Bros Wii. And I didn't read The Invention of Hugo Cabre, but I saw the movie (Hugo) and LOVED it, though the 3D didn't really improve anything.
@Kentkillmore Yes. I have been paying special attention to the beard because I know it's about to go away, and it makes him look like an adult, which I love. Please keep the beard, Hank.
to everyone who keeps asking for the Hardcastle videos, they were all posted to a seperate channel called hardcastle, I'd suggest watching them there...
My parents are rockin' optometrists who dominate and have very high quality service, and so do the awesome opticians who work for them. Like they're constantly getting great reviews from patients and stuff. just saying, there ARE optometrists and opticians (there's a difference between the two!) who do their jobs well.
In my brain I am now going to translated "mission" into "magician" every time that word is said. Everything, I feel, will be much more interesting after that.
i read all 3 of the hunger games books because i found out the film will be coming out in march, thank god for read it first or i would never have spent those 2 days reading them first :D
I read Hugo Cabret (probably didn't spell that right) more than THREE YEARS ago. How's that for awesome? It was super good and partly told in picture, which is pretty awesome. I can't wait to see the movie and will probably be checking out the book from my library to read again.
I....... I was making food while listening to Vlogbrothers, and I came back to THE GOATEE. WHAT'S HAPPENING ON YOUR FACE?? :P
it's so interesting watching back which of these things still exist and which I haven't heard about in a decade
2d glasses still exist as of 2023!!!
I am committed to a Magician.

"I said the F word!!"
"IN FRONT OF LITTLE KIDS!!"
".....frustating....."
"That wasn't the f-word I used."
this is probably one of my favourite hank videos. he's just so enthusiastic.

The huge load of nerdfighterity.

Will truth or fail ever come back? You haven't uploaded on over a year.
I am a nerdfighter and visiting Portugal right now, I am so freaking happy I have internet access so I can watch these videos! =)
Wow, I actually didn't realize how busy you were. This video has actually been quite inspiring for me - thanks for reminding me that it's always a good thing to get off your ass and get stuff done!
Stuck back in college for a week of school then finals. This made my day. Thanks, hank!
the entire time while watching, part of my brain was screaming "POSTER YAAAAAAAY" I
I love this video. Hank is clearly very busy, but he's doing what he loves, so it doesn't matter!
@aoigensou Welcome to the community! I'm glad you stumbled into this group; it's always cool to see new Nerdfighters! :) DFTBA!

If you are committed to a magician that's also fine. I wish the two of you the best.
Hank...this is why I love you.
Haha. Committed to a magician indeed. What would the world be like without you?
So glad you're rocking and rolling in life! So stoked for SciShow, Crash Course, Project for Awesome, and VidCon!
Again, what would the world be like without Hank Green?

@BenevolentDinosaur That is beautiful :3
And exactly how I felt when I started getting into the whole community - it's made of awesome.
"Load of Nerdfighteria" and "committed to the magician" back to back made me laugh a lot!
I've never realized how busy you were before. I mean, I know you and John do a lot of stuff, but...wow...
Good luck with all of that!
And now I have his song "Helena Montana" stuck in my head, thank you!
I always get very excited for the project for awesome because it is AWESOME... also the 18 is my birthday!!! Two wonderful days all in one!
@TrailRat2000 Hankroll my friend....Hankroll.
"Frustrated is not the F word I used."
This made me laugh more than it should.
Thanks for the smiles!
You just "worked" all weekend to get you nether-portal working? Are you using an obscure meaning of the word 'worked' of which I was hitherto unaware?
@vlogbrothers That response just made my day.
Thank you, Hank, DFTBA.
Perfect thumbnail since the thing which first caught my eye was the Assassin's Creed poster and it made me consider watching your Let's Play despite having only played 3/4 of the first game.
God I love Hank's videos. John's too but Hank's just are so strange and hilarious
I think Vidcon should come to the east coast next year. Whaddaya say?

Yes! For the first time I don't have school for P4A! I only have a community club meeting for an hour, but it still counts as charity so it's all good :)
I maintain committed to reading it first - I read Hugo Cabret because of your recommendation, and then made a video about it!
4 minutes, Hank. You're pushin' the limits to the MAX.
Sold. I've wanted a giraffe love shirt forever, now is the time. Also a random mystery shirt for good measure!
@danceandrevolution

I hope I'm like Hank and John when I grow up because they're not afraid to take a risk, be creative, and help make the world better as a result. :)
hank- i wish i had half your energy and creativity! you're amazing! ditto john- you two were born caffeinated.
LOVING the poster! Vlogbrothers are true, frenching the llama is permitted.
December 17th, my first day of Christmas vacation. Since I won't have anything else to do, I will probably spend my day watching P4A videos.
"I mean, if your committed to a magician, that's fine too...I wish the two of you all the best."
Yes, I acknowledge that this is Hank's video, but John, I have a quote I think you'd like: "Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever."

@BenevolentDinosaur we are so excited about you being a nerdfighter !!!
#875: I love how he is happy for anyone who is in a committed relationship with a magician.
It's okay Hank. I too have had to wait over a month for my new glasses. #solidarity
ACR poster in the background. You are my new hero.
Wow. Hank, you are a very successful and awesome person.
OMG!!!! I FREAKIN' LOVE HUGO CABRET!!!! I read it a couple of years ago and I am SO excited to see the movie adaptation!!! :D
Haha! I bought my VidCon tickets last week and I swear I'm still FREAKING OUT that I will be able to go! And yeah. I kinda inferred that "frustrated" was not the word used. lol
This further proves to me that Nerdfighteria is awesome. And it's stretching far across the globe, dipping its finger into every pot of everything.
you are the definition of entrepreneur.
And, i think probably one of the most awesome people ever. *nods*
oh wow, i cracked up twice in this one, once for the commitment to the magician, and and the second time for the f-word not being "frustration." this is a good video.
"The fight to bring back you pants continues..." This makes me happy!
This is the most awesome video just because of all the awesome inside of it!
This was such a seriously awesome video. Well done, Hank!

I'm reading Hugo Cabret right now and I love it! (Well not literally right now, right now I'm watching Hank.)
Poor Beard. It definitely deserves a place in the pantheon of nerdfighteria.
@msnhao It takes a lot of planning every time though, good to start early.
The word to describe Hank right now = FRAZZLED!
I love Super Mario Bros Wii. And I didn't read The Invention of Hugo Cabre, but I saw the movie (Hugo) and LOVED it, though the 3D didn't really improve anything.
@vlogbrothers pay a company to host a server. Nerdfighters can even donate to it to play. If enough people play/donate, it could be super cheap
@Kentkillmore Yes. I have been paying special attention to the beard because I know it's about to go away, and it makes him look like an adult, which I love.
Please keep the beard, Hank.
@misha231 actually, I believe it's growing on Hank!
I have to admit, I dont want the goatee gone. It has grown me hank. KEEP IT! :D
You make me smile.
You're so busy it's inSANE! I hope you love it.
Oh god, I love your posters so much - ALL OF THEM!
Also, nice shirt xD
and. wow. that's a tight schedule you have.
I don't know why everyone hates Hank's beard. I think he looks rather attractive. More than rather attractive, in fact.
to everyone who keeps asking for the Hardcastle videos, they were all posted to a seperate channel called hardcastle, I'd suggest watching them there...
Thanks for that incredibly detailed list (or explanation?) of "other things". It was incredibly helpful (:

Literally just finished reading Hugo Caberet! Can't wait for the movie!
I fanned myself like an old southern ladie in shock when he said that he swore in the mall. I was apalled. I can't imagine Hank swearing..
"hehe. So funny." FIVE YEARS IN YOUR PANTS, AND WE ARE STILL LAUGHING! Dedication, y'all.
I hope your life together is magical.
In my brain I am now going to translated "mission" into "magician" every time that word is said.
Everything, I feel, will be much more interesting after that.
DeathHank ad SMBW are pretty much the awesomestest superific things on TH-cam right now.
"If you're committed to a magician, that's also fine." I am crying laughing right now.
i read all 3 of the hunger games books because i found out the film will be coming out in march, thank god for read it first or i would never have spent those 2 days reading them first :D
