    Hi Tim i was using TomTom for so long for my motorcycle routes and decided to move to Garmin zumo XT. I found base camp almost impossible until I came across your videos they are so clear and concise. Keep up the good work. Tom, Glasgow, Scotland

    Wow! IDK how you figured out this one! My laptop would have ended up at the bottom of the pool! Thank you SO MUCH for taking your time to figure out how all this works and sharing it! I'm new to Garmen and Base Camp. I have yet to attempt to follow a route that I have plotted. Still just messing with the program. I would have deleted it and just follow the purple line without your help. Watching and re watching your videos. So much great info! Then i go fiddle with Base Camp, back to the video and try to figure what details i missed. So far i viewed some videos 4 x some 3x this one is on number 1. I will be back for sure! Thanks again!

    Hey Tim, Thanks for the previous reply. Here is my current quandary. I clicked on the new route tool. Then clicked it off just to use the pointer. I started the route. Then went to the search bar to find a place I've been wanting to visit for a long time. (The Mug House. If you find yourself in the NC mountains, must stop!) I added it to my current route. I can't seem to add anymore to this route. IE, the pointer will not let me add more to my route. It's like I have to start a whole new route if I leave the one I'm working on. Obviously I'm doing something wrong.
    Thanks in advance

    • @EZMotoTim
      @EZMotoTim  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're not doing anything wrong. Once you click on the hand, you end the route. You can create another route and join the two or you can insert waypoints into the route. Thanks for watching.

      @@EZMotoTim Thanks. I also figured out today that I have to select Off Road as my navigation choice for my custom routes to stay the same without Garmin altering them.
      How do I join the two routes?

    Hi
    Thanks for your efforts in making clear things garmin should do with your videos.
    You queried "top results" and the basis thereof - looking at your screen it seems results are ranked in distance from the centre of the map - it seems to me looking at the cluster of balloons and the distance on the right of the listtheres a correlation.
    Where the exact centre is might be useful to know - any ideas?

    • @EZMotoTim
      @EZMotoTim  ปีที่แล้ว

      The search is based on the criteria you enter and distances are listed from the center of the amp as displayed. (See 3:50 of the video) If you hover the mouse over the map you'll see the coordinates of the point under the mouse at the left edge of the lower status bar. Thanks for watching.

    Thanks for the detailed explanations!. Just downloaded basecamp and I created a route that crossed a time zone. However Basecamp did not adjust my arrival time for the time change (crossed from CST to EST). Is there a way to do this? Thanks!

    • @timsnyder2175
      @timsnyder2175 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not that I know of. The GPS takes the time zone into account, however. Thanks for watching.

    Good video Tim. I really don't use any search info in Basecamp since I normally prep the mayority of my routes using Google MyMaps and Google Maps for additional information and streetview for basic scouting. Then i save or download a kmz/kml file that i can read with Basecamp, add a few viapoints to make sure that the GPS doesn't do what they always do and transfer everything to the GPS.

    • @EZMotoTim

      Try putting more shaping points in your route and check the GPS to see if it has the same avoidances and the same fastest/shortest setting as Basecamp.

    Tim, I notice that the first couple of results (in Points of Interest ... maybe others?) are repeated. The hotel found as item 1 will also be found as item 2, and the one found as item 3 will also be found as item 4. Have you come across any reason as to why? Or is this just one of those Garmin 'glitches'? Thanks

    • @EZMotoTim
      @EZMotoTim  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't taken the time to figure that out. I'm just happy to get results I can use. There could be glitch in the program or the entries are in the database twice, or something else.

    Garmin could take a few lessons from Google Maps. I have been using MyMaps www.google.com/maps/d/ making the route, and then export as a KML/KMZ file, then import into Base Camp to create a fast gpx.

    Basecamp absolutely sucks at finding addresses. I live in number 8 on a street in Copenhagen that has numbers 2, 4, 6 and 8. Basecamp can't find number 8, but it will happily find number 61, or even 621.
    I don't trust this software at all.

    • @EZMotoTim
      @EZMotoTim  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree. Try finding the address in Google and approximate the location with a waypoint in BaseCamp.
