I loved seeing Benoit back in the chateau. He and Phillip were sparring again which is so cute. The smoking pipe that Benoit fashioned from wood was not only beautiful but so thoughtful. Benoit is a treasure.

Little tip for picture hanging: cut pieces of paper the same size as pieces to be hung, mark where the nail should be on the papers, tape papers to wall to figure out where you'd like to put the pictures, once placement is decided its easy to see where to put the nail.

The excitement around the new 3D printer is understandable, but please have Benoit make your drawer dividers. It'll be a perfect fit (no gaps!! So satisfying) and you can pick a gorgeous wood like walnut or oak or even paint it the same colour as the drawer if that's what you prefer.

I have always been very traditional in my taste in interiors, particularly in historic homes and buildings, but l like the way you put a contemporary spin on the decor of the chateau. It looks fresh and updated while still maintaining the spirit of a traditional chateau. The mirrors in the bathroom look amazing. Also like that you painted the radiators to blend in with the walls and paneling. Great to see you back home looking refreshed and ready to complete your renovation projects.

We had a large mirror like that, just adhered with the liquid nails and it decided to come down. I would put the hangers on it as well as the adhesive. I was standing in front of it, put my hand out and the faucets kept it from crashing down. Didn't lose the mirror either.

Wow guys, that sailing adventure has you smiling and bubbling like never before! There's a Swedish idiom "Omväxling förnöjer" meaning "variety (or a change of pace or scenery) pleases", and I think it's true for everyone, and especially people working at home. It's great to see you back at it! Anna, you have such a keen eye! The things you brought home from Sweden are really quintessentially Swedish items steeped in traditional crafts. I have a Gustavian wooden sofa in my kitchen and a fabric very similar to your heavier striped woven one sewn as a sofa cover I use for autumn and Christmas to add a pop of color and protect the cushion as my doggie friends love to lie there (I add a couple of sheepskins too once winter snows set in). I've table cloths in similar patterns to the other fabric. Love the earthenware with that creamy yellow and got my son and his wife 5 candle sticks all in different heights (and a spare that matches one of them in case they need a matching pair for dining) in exactly that style as the candelabra Filip found! I found them all at once at a brocante, incredibly, perhaps they came from the same collector, I was thrilled! They were pleased too, and it's fitting as my son's mother grew up the daughter of a worker at that brass manufacturer, a very famous one in Sweden.
I highly recommend you order some acid free framing tape. It may seem pedantic, but really isn't, your prints will start yellowing in no time at all without it. But regularbtape will ruin them in weeks, so just make sure it's acid free paper tape and you'll have it on hand for any reframing purposes.
Mirrors are gorgous! Love how they accentuate the height and add dimension!
Oh and I never actually thought 3D printers were useful around the house like this at all. I certainly learned something new!
How cool is it btw, to have your dad make your bespoke Barbie furniture?!
Nice to see parents helping out, always so sweet.
Keep smiling guys, this transformation is huge! This trio of private luxury is goingbto be the most beautiful space ever, I'd be very surprized if you don't get multiple requests from interior design magazines and online channels once you're done with this suite! ❤👌😍

Tip on hanging multiple pictures in a group: Cut out paper the same size as the frames and test what you want by taping them on the wall. You can try all sorts of different configurations to find the best.
In the US, the general recommendation (by who? I don't know) is 60" (152.4 cm) on center. Meaning the center of your photograph (or grouping) , is 60 inches from the ground. All my art in my home is 63" on center (I'm taller and I prefer that). There is always some math involved, but it's pretty quick. Because the wire hangers on the back can vary, I do the math for each--and write it on the back of the piece so I know how to hang it if I move the art or paint the room.
    As always, another gorgeous video.

The mirrors are an awesome touch inside the moulding. For the black frames, one thing that you could use to fill in the cracks or breaks in the frame is Milliput, an epoxy putty that is easily moldable and can be sanded to a smooth finish and then painted. I have used it to repair broken tiles, including Delft, and other pottery and even cracks and missing pieces in floor tiles. Love the black and white paintings. They make a nice grouping.

I am a gallerist and art advisor and I think the prints in the bathroom need to be rehung. The distance between the prints should be the same in the 2 up and the 2 across. They are also too far apart. Ideally you would measure the width of each print. Then find the dimension that equals one third of that overall width of the print.. Then use that 1/3 dimension as the spacing between the prints on all sides. For example in creating a 2 up and 2 across arrangement, having 4" between each print would be more harmonious.

@@HowToRenovateAChateau Having a formula in hanging art saves time. I take a formula, and then Imay adjust depending on the specific situation.
Here is a formula that I have used with art installers, in residences, gallery and museum exhibitions:
      Hanging Art Formula, Museum Hang
      60” middle
60” middle good for principal rooms (and rooms with high ceilings)
57” middle can used for more intimate spaces like small bedrooms with low ceilings
The middle (or center) of each picture is 60” from the floor
Step 1: Measure and lightly mark 60" on the wall, measuring up from your floor.
Step 2: Measure artwork and divide by 2 (this gives you the center)
Step 3: Measure top of your picture to the tightened wire (or wherever you''ll hanging it from).
Step 4: Subtract that "tight wire" amount from number you figured out in step 2. This will tell you how far above 60" your hook should go.
Step 5: Lightly mark wall just above 60" with the "to the hook" amount you figured out in step 4.
      Step 6: Hang art
      Example:
      Picture is 20" high
Middle is at 10" (this mid point should rest at 60" from the floor)
tight wire comes to 2" below the top
      10" - 2" = 8"
Lightly mark 8" above your first mark or 68" on the wall
      Hang up art!

    Beautiful projects and objects! Those mirrors are amazing! {While a 3-D printer might be tempting, yet in a world more than polluted with plastic, all of our organs containing micro- and nanoplastic particles, especially children‘s organs being badly affected, I think we should reduce instead of creating more plastic objects. Phthalates in plastic affect our hormonal balance, more cancer on the way. The fumes of heated plastic are a health hazard too. An international conference at Dublin University recently showed all the evidence of a very serious health threat, increasing every single day 😢 If the machine would at least print with bamboo filaments…}

The bathroom needs a fabric wall hanging to deaden the echoes. Or one larger painting.

Welcome back, small piece of advice on picture hanging: 2 fixings for every picture stops them falling crooked, that's what galleries do, and a spirit level and measuring tape.

Such a cool idea! I'd love my drawers to be customed to my items.

Love the printer, I taught 3D printing prior to the pandemic, we had much larger bulky printers, don’t let the filament dry up, print more things for the kids if nothing else, I would also unload the filament between jobs. I had another really nice website I can’t remember right now I will try to remember. You can also issue 3D max and design your own items.

I've done mirror installations and made glass and mirror furniture for probably thirty some years. I've never seen white mirror mastic before. It's always been black. Even the stuff in the tube and there aren't too many brands available. Using things like caulk and liquid nails can be tricky because it's very easy to "burn" the back of the mirror and have black spots begin to show through in a few months. Also, mastic will not support the weight of mirror. It will only keep it stuck to the wall. Good Luck. Jack L.

Your husband is very techno. That printer is used in schools here in Canada. I love the paint stirrer. I've missed your site and glad you are back.

Just a note from my hand surgeon guy: don’t hit anything with the palm of your hand so that it hits the butt of your palm. All the nerves to our hands come out thru the wrist there, including the
Carpel Tunnel nerve. Crushing garlic, squeezing lemons, or smashing chisels onto a door frame with the butt of your palm hurts those delicate nerves, leading to surgery on your hand. Instead, curl your fist and hit whatever with the chubby outside of you fist or another hard object. ❤😊Live long and prosper!
