I have a colleague who has recently bought a Tesla. He showed it me with great pride. I even got to sit in the passenger seat. OMG I was blown away by how bland it is. I won't be buying one anytime soon.
Interesting video, I also bought an l322 with the 4.4 tdv8 nearly 5 years ago now. I didn't think i would keep it long. Always wanted a range rover, so I thought it was now or never to tick the box before all the good ones are gone. The newer 405 and whatever the current one is just dont interest me at all. I think the l322 is the last "proper" range rover. There is something about these old things that gets under your skin, and you forgive their higher than average running costs. They drive well with a great engine, they go anywhere, they have proper buttons (just about), and they still look good, especially yours in baltic blue, or a galway green one. Let's be honest as car enthusiasts the tax is less than two months pcp rental for most boring modern things.
I purchased a 2015 Discovery 4 a year ago, road tax is 415pa will be keeping it. These cars will increase in value very soon, look after them they will be hot property soon. I purchased a new camper van in 2021, tax is going up from 330pa to 600pa, will sell that soon.
I purchased an L322 5 years ago needed a single tow car that would legally tow 3.5 tons, not many cars about that would do that. It has been expensive to keep as it is a big heavy car about with 68K miles on it it just came up to the time that suspension bits needed replaced, having said that other than wear and tear the on it "broken" item has been the front wiper motor. As you say a big comfortable car that tows well. I average 25MPG with at least 50% of the time either short journeys or towing, my trailer or caravan. I will keep this car until I stop towing, to replace it with an equivalent newer car would cost probably £20K+ and that is a lot of repairs. I will look out for your next Vid on the L322 enjoy driving it. P.S. my insurance is about £50 less this year for some strange reason.
Great that you are keeping the L322. I told gpt about my idea for a fun topic for a video. I would like some info on how you are much safer in your RR than in a much more expensive new small car. Like a Fiat 500. The range rover is four times as heavy as the Fiat. In a head on collision you are much better off. Think of it as a life insurance. It may appear that way, but once they have priced out of our combustion engined cars and in to EVs it then leaves the door open for them to really hit the driving public. I'm sure it will then go down the pay to drive tax route and boy will we know about that!

Here in ireland the road tax is 1850 euro for the the 3.6 or 2400 for the 4.4 now what you say to that

Correct decision imo. Should be one flat road tax and/or fuel excise. If you have a fuel guzzler you pay for it at the pump.
My l322 is in the barn with a fair few failures on the MOT I now have a L405 and can’t bring myself to get rid of the L322
Unfortunately there is no air suspension on the Ineos.

L322 and Freelander 2 are the best JLR products ever made. Jag XF and x type with the 2.2d are also bullet proof
I ran a 2.2d X-Type. It never let me down once and I piled the miles on it. Incredible cars.
I'm keeping my L322. Done 150k miles in mine, 120k by me. Intend to take it to the moon at least at 238k. Best Range Rover they made.
Keep the L322, nothing modern compares to the capabilities of them. The L405 doesn’t cope the same
I have a freelander 2, it's a great car but really fancy an l322 4.4 tdv8.
How is the freelander 2 road tax wise and insurance wise for you?
£2 a day for VED
Don't worry about it .. . I don't.
