South of Trenton, the only 2 other major alternatives to the New Jersey Turnpike is I-295 thru Camden and I-95 thru Philly. Idk why but recently I drove from Paterson NJ to Baltimore and I stayed on the turnpike all the way to Delaware. I guess because it’s a seamless ride. One day I’ll try 95 or 295 but I know even I’ll have to get in the turnpike coming from Maryland unless I take Route 1. It looks pretty smooth.
From the south cross the Delaware Bridge then stay right to I-295 to I-195 to the Turnpike. I usually exit at US 9 and take US 1-9 the Pulasky Skyway to I-78 the Holland Tunnel. If I am going to Brooklyn then I use I-278 the Goethals Bridge to Verrazano Narrows Bridge. Going south I will use either US 1 or the Turnpike and I-195 to NJ 29 and cross the free bridge to Morrisville to US 1 to I-295/I-95.
Now you know why there's a Turnpike. US 1's a very old highway, built before, and built around, any possible modern improvements. MODot did a similar thing with US 67 (Lindbergh) in parts of St. Louis County in the 70's, adding the U-turn ramps and eliminating left turns because of all the wrecks on it. But MODot left the speed limit at 40, which is generally ignored.
I have driven this road hundreds of times when I lived in Edison and I could feel my blood boiling watching this. I would have been in that left lane out of there. This road has come a long way over the years because they have eliminated a lot of traffic lights between Lawrence Twp and Plainfield Road in Edison.
I watched a few TH-cam channels like this one. And they always have a front view, I’m wondering if possible if you can also have a left and right window view. I know that would me another camera or two or a couple of dash cams. But just watching a back of someone’s bumper can get a little boring. Anyway just a thought.
Why would anyone want to go from a 6-lane super highway (NJTP) to a sometimes 3 lane to 2 lane US-1 with traffic lights? I live only 3 miles from US-1 and I avoid it at all costs, taking local or rural roads. Now if there was a bad accident on the NJTP everyone will try US-1 and you know, it can't handle it - Grid Lock for hours & hours.
Nice ride and scenery.🍂👍
Smooth ride.
You should have seen it in the mid '70's, heheh.
One thing you can say about Jersey - its takes care of its highways. 🤠
Must be a nice ride on us highway 1 North
Did you do a video of going on US route 1 south?

It's like metro Detroit without the Michigan left turns and superstreet intersections.
Ah. You missed crossing over the Delaware River into Trenton.
i need to wheel upon this one day (19-Okt-2o23)

Did you do a video of going back to Trenton, NJ on route 1?
Just be careful in the rain, I hydroplaned on this road 3 times!! Never on any other road in the state
I thought this was the California 1
I think US Route 1 is a nicer, more pleasant ride than the New Jersey Turnpike.
@Jim Allen 100% True!
Well you can't use cruise-control on US-1 so burn more fuel.
You must be insane they both stink on ice buddy!👌👍🤣😂🤪😘
