    Ok, to make it clear - several generations of my family (including elderly and children) went to the first camps under the new regime after the revolution, so I do have personal attachment to the theme... and this game handles it perfectly well.
    I'm glad to finally see a good, easy to play and thematically rich game about the Revolution(s) of 1917.
    I think it's unjust to start all the 'oh there is Stalin in there' as if you read through even through the quotes alone you could start getting the general idea of how 'nice' people involved in the events were - just as it goes for most if not all revolution/war/uprising events and personalities.
    It's great if thanks to Dual Powers more people will learn about all the characters mentioned in the game - you can find a lot of interesting and maybe even surprising to you facts. For example, the reasons why Kornilov has -1 on the flip side ;)
    People should not shy away from history, but learn from it. Not for soapboxing, but for the sake of your family and friends next time you need to think and understand what is going on around.

    Fantastic choice of tie, Tom. And a well-done review. I like that the game doesn't seem overly-complicated.

    I have played this several times... I should point out that the solo mode is very well designed.

    I think ignoring history is a big mistake, so games like these are important. In this game there is no glorification of either side, so why would anybody be uncomfortable with playing this game?

      Believe me or not, but if the game was about internal conflicts in the early Nazi-party, then there would be a gargantuan scream all around.

      @@polimer87 This is a thoughtful point you bring up.... I'd like to play this game and see how it makes me feel before I make any judgments of it.

      @@polimer87 Again as long as there is no glorification, I see no problem. I can understand someone who's family was directly affected the event. If that person doesn't wanna play it, okay that's fair but that doesn't mean the game shouldn't exist

      @polimer87 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ZakiJeppe To be fair I don't see any problem with the topic of the game either. :) However I'm just pointing that these two fraternal criminal systems are usually not treated equally by the fandom (see threads on BGG).

      The game feels historically accurate and considering it's a game about revolution people could either figure out how bloody and cruel it was or just keep trolling (or promoting some weird agenda) as some did in unboxing

    The tie aids the theme of the game

    Tom: I love your channel. And very much enjoy/appreciate your insight. Yes, I get you.
    This game offers the opportunity to fight on the Bolsheviks side, or the conservative socialists side? Well, It's apparent who's publishing these games, isn't it? Challenge: please find me a boardgame which permits me to cripple Bolshevism in its infancy, or even to defeat them in the Russian civil war (and please no one reference Triumph of Chaos). This game and others (ie Soviet Dawn) should include the option of fighting on the Czar side and/or anti socialists.

    The reason why soviet themes are more uncomfortable to me than Nazi Germany, is because there's a clear shared understanding that Nazis were bad. But there are a lot of apologists for communist regimes and it seems to be more socially acceptable.
