    Very nice and clean! Great tutorial for the folks looking to do a beams swap! Great job John!

    Hi John! Does this HKS intake has something like a cell inside to calm the airflow before the MAF?

    • @johnrussakoff
      @johnrussakoff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The inlet of the maf housing has a tapered entry that directs air towards the meter. Similar to the factory air box. We have not had any issues with this design so far. Engine runs smoothly and idles solid.

    Great video! I just curious where you located the ECU and fuse boxes?

    • @johnrussakoff
      @johnrussakoff  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The ecu is mounted in the factory AE86 location. This requires flipping the harness around and extending a few plugs. All the wiring reuses the factory AE86 fuse box and relays.

    i got this fuel cell am setting up on my ae86 bcuz the original tank went bad what advice can u give about an in tank pump conversion or outside pump set up
    plz advice

    • @johnrussakoff
      @johnrussakoff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I prefer to keep the pump in the tank. It reduces noise and also keeps it away from debri. Make sure the pump sits inside a baffle or sump to prevent fuel sloshing that causes starvation under cornering.

    Wat do u think about the airflow straightener screen one can use on beams swap

    • @johnrussakoff

      Probably a good idea, definitely wouldn’t hurt to use one.

    Hi,
    All your videos are really nice. Thanks for that.
    I saw your throttle cable connection. Have you changed or updated something on the throttle body itself ? I think I read somewhere people buying a “locking” device for the drive by wire.
    Have you done something for that or not needed ?

    The 1/2" hose doesn't really connect to the HKS outlet on the elbow. It sits inside the hole but doesn't seal/overlap. Did you use some kind of conversion piece?

    Hi i need some advice about the external fuel pump set up
    What would be the recommended size of fuel pump should be used

    • @johnrussakoff
      @johnrussakoff  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don’t recommend an external pump. There’s lots of great in tank pumps that can support huge hp numbers.

    • @radicalneg8296

I have a panic wiring harness with Link ecu for mine. Are you going to use the beams ecu since you are keeping the MAF?

    You inspired me to buy a 4age header for my swap. I bought the martelius r1. It looks like the primaries are smaller on the 4ag header..I assumer this isn't a big deal?

    • @johnrussakoff
      @johnrussakoff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What is the tubing diameter on that header? This fujitsubo header is a bit over 1 5/8”.

    • @mattmaloy744
      @mattmaloy744 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@johnrussakoff the same actually. 41.5mm. Looks like the factory beams manifold is 2 inches. I have seen power gains from smaller primaries on chevy small blocks on certain engines. I'm probably overthinking it

    For the header, just cut off 4age flange and the beams flange will line up exactly with the 4 tubes?

    • @johnrussakoff
      @johnrussakoff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, I recommend having a competent fabricator do this. The runners need to be ovaled, then the 2 and 3 runners need to be spread apart slightly before welding. It also requires careful fitment to get the header to fit correctly under the car. There are a few other options as well for this conversion, this is just what I found to work best for me.

    Is it necessary to have the breather pipe routing from the engine to the intake as is done in the kit? Or can I attach the breather pipe to the engine and leave it open at one end to vent somewhere in the engine bay? Or does it need to be routed back to the intake for increased suction? Thank you!

    • @johnrussakoff
      @johnrussakoff  ปีที่แล้ว

      Because the engine uses an air flow sensor, the breather needs to reroute back to the intake. If you want to route it to a catch can, you’ll need to route the van back to the intake as well.
