    Hey man, you need to speak into the Procaster from the top, like you did on the MV7, beside that, good video

    Hi!
    Is the Shure MV7 a good option for a podcast with 2-3 people talking? You've said that it picks sound even if you are not directly in front of it and I wonder if one mic would record the sound of the other people talking?
    From this point of view, would the Rode be a better choice?
    Thanks!

    • @HeyCMH
      @HeyCMH  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would not use this microphone if you plan to have multiple people talking into the same mic.
      For most dynamic mics, it’s typically one mic per person.
      ATR has some great options like the 2100 for just that…like $70 per mic.
      You can use a condenser mic like a Yeti for multi-person setups, but just know you will pick up other noises in addition to the voices.
      The echo is sometimes horrible with those because it’s not made to drown out background like a dynamic mic.

    Hey Chris. Seems like you lost a lot of low end when going from XLR to USB on the MV7. Did you do any EQing or so? Anyway, I think my choice is landing on the MV7 since it is omnidirectional, looks better, weighs less and is more flexible (the USB option is great for travelling). Either way, thank you for this video it helped me make a decision!

    • @HeyCMH
      @HeyCMH  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure thing, buddy. I did not change anything when I switched over but the internal settings mechanism on the MV7 did kick in so it likely had different default settings than what my Rodecaster Pro is set at.

    • @agambhasin
      @agambhasin 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Omnidirectional? Or Unidirectional? Bcz i think the polar pattern on the MV7 is either cardioid or supercardioid and not omnidirectional

    I think the mv7 usb sounded warm and pretty good. But a lot of pops and plosives. Any fix for that?

    • @Yukison22
      @Yukison22 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The pop filter of the sm7b is bigger and also fits on the mv7. You can get a cheap big one and it makes the mv7 sound even better.

  • @welpenhund

    The pop sounds were much more heavy on the MV7 then they been on the Rode Procaster.

    What stand are you using with the shure MV7?

  • @agambhasin
    @agambhasin 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    My friend, u r using the procaster all wrong, its an end address microphone and not a side address microphone as u have set up with a pop filter, so the comparison is not at all legit here, the procaster sounds so good and rich if used correctly, which in this video i am sad to tell you, you are not! As far as MV7 goes, I hear some plosives on the MV7 even after the windscreen, i also observed that the low end sounded better on usb than the xlr mode, which is one of the gripes of this microphone which i saw in some other reviews that it sounds better on usb than xlr.

      @@HeyCMH According to your review, I would pick Shure MV7 for its features for different recording scenarios. But still, I'm confused regarding MV7 XLR performances. Some says that MV7's XLR performance is not up to the mark.

    I’ve been using the Procaster mic for a year and never realized the front facing. So many times saying talk into the mic. Moving over to MV7.

    MV7 is an inferior mic. Also you are taking to the Procaster from the side. That is a dynamic mic and the front of the mic is the top just like MV7.
