    Here in the US, the Procaster is ~$230 and the Podmic is ~$100.... so you could pick up two of the podmics for less than the cost of 1 procaster. However, the podmic is sold out and backordered pretty much everywhere. You can place an order for it, but no clue when it'll arrive :).
    As far as audio interfaces are concerned, as long as you have one with a decently low EIN and a good dynamic range (i.e. 100dbA range) you really don't need to worry about a separate preamp like a CL or Fethead. So, pretty much your Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, your Behringer UMC202HD, Audient iD14 etc will all be able to drive the mics. You can certainly add a preamp or channel strip if you wish, but they aren't a necessity. The dbx 286s is a great piece of kit, giving you the real time effects processing in hardware, along with a good amount of gain from the preamp.

    PROcaster and podcaster are marketed as “Front Adress” mics. So “straight down the barrel” is the way they are intended, from about 3 to 5 inches. Aiming the breath over the top edge helps a lot with plosives.

      @@jcstrabo Well yes and no. Some dynamic microphones have good internal shockmounts but the one built in to the procaster isn't great. I have had quiet a lot of vibration noise comming through to the mic. Besides the mount that comes with the mic is garbage anyway. After a few months it couldn't hold my procaster anymore. To be fair though I adjusted the position of the mic quiet a lot during that time which certainly helped break it

    Keep in mind, the Rode Podmic and the Rode Procaster Mic are made to be used with the Rodecaster Pro, the settings there with some tinkering, can make both of these mic sound 10x better. Some settings you can get it to sound like the 400.00 Shure SM7B. Most videos or streamers are using these with GOXLR's or Focusrites mixers, cool, but damn you connect these to Rode's Rodecaster Pro for podcasting, it doesn't take long to figure out the settings to get a really crisp natural sound. Only thing I recommend is a CLoudlifter for these mics when using them anywhere, even with the Rodecaster Pro podcast unit

    • @Crepinoi
      @Crepinoi 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I recently bought both Podmic and Procaster to compare.
      There is two options : If you don't mind to speak 2cm (1 inch) from the microphone, most of interface can get over the -57db, such as focusrite scarlett gen3 with its +56db gain, or anything similar to this
      But if you don't like to have the microphone in your mouth or being inaudible when you are 5cm (2 inches) away from your microphone then you should get an Cloudlifter or Fethead which is cheaper (but still expensive), that should allow you to move pretty far away from the microphone and being still hearable.
      All of this can get as expensive (or much expensive) as the microphone itself so if its too much for you, you should go for microphone that don't need thoses massives boost of gain.

    • @blazemonger1

      No, the Procaster has a very decent sensitivity.

      I had the PodMic and if you like a snowstorm sound you can leave the cloud lifter or fathead at the store. I like a clean signal so for me a fathead is a no brainer!

    • @GeekyNerdyTechy
      @GeekyNerdyTechy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure if the Zoom H6 will work well with either of these two microphones without a cloudlifter? I haven't tried it. You might have better luck with something like a Rode M2 or M3 with a setup like that.

      mattia scarpazza you probably need to position the gain knob to about 7 or 8. I had a zoom and tried it with a dynamic microphone

    I prefer the Sound of the RØDE Procaster over the RØDE Podmic - with your voice. The Podmic is a bit weak on your voice.

      Jay Mac To protect the mic when it’s not in use. Dust and moisture can destroy the internals.
