Smooth, even in his later years. Nothing else that can be said.
I adore Robert Mitchum.
No standing ovation for this screen legend!
I wish I could see the SNL scene where he plays Philip Marlowe for the last time....
Searching for that is how I got here.
Smooth as silk, unfazed, a total boss. What a pro.
Miss the days when hosting and hosts weren't about PR and self promotion. Plus this monologues?
Short and sweet.
"Weren't about." Write in proper English please!
True.
I never got around to editing this.
The crowd is sitting, and cheering ...should be standing, and cheering ...what's up with this crowd?
They probably haven’t seen night of the hunter, el dorado, thunder road, cape fear or his small appearance in dead man.
@@Judgeholden95 Righto 😎👤
Crowd does not know the great Robert Mitchum
Cool as ever even in his later years!
Classy monolog. He didn't try to stand-up or sing...he kept it brief.. he read the cue cards 90 minutes to a party, we'll be right back..
According to G.E. Smith, (who was REALLY excited he was in the show) Mitchum did the show for $2K cash in an envelope and a case of Tequila.
Sounds about right regarding Mitch.

Now there's a Real MAN !!😎👊
Fly on the Wall brought me here. Loved how completely deadpan Mitchum is. Night of the Hunter is a true classic, and he was chilling in it.
Same
@Jimmy Gillard I'm glad someone else knows that yes it was the only film directed by Charles Laughton [Hunchback of Notre Dame]
critics hated it at the time , really critics are just bloody idiots anyways but NOTH is one those 50's films that still holds up well and yes Mitchum was chilling in it .
CHEERS.
One of my favorites Robert mitchum
Well, Saturday Night Live had William Burroughs, they can certainly have Robert Mitchum to be on the show.
Miss this guy so much.
Great delivery!
short and sweet
Adorable ❤
most everyone in this audience had no f'n clue who he was
This was 1987, they knew who he was he was still relevant at this point.
This is 1987. Mitchum was still looked up to by American men. Today a guy like Mitchum would be labeled out of touch. How far we have fallen.
Il avait certes perdu un peu de sa beauté sauvage mais pas son élégance, ni sa voix, si belle...
He did a Private Eye skit in which everyone wondered why he was narrating out loud. I'd love to see that again.
I like Robert Mitchem,i just hate those glassy.
First playboy Hollywood
Hollywood's first pothead
He was busted for possession of weed in the 1940s! You kids don't know squat.
It was a conspiracy charge
Robert mitchum was Hollywood's first pothead
"Look, I have two kinds of acting. One on a horse and one off a horse. That's it." - Robert Mitchum
This is awesome!
Robert Mitchum-one of my favorite actors.John M Guinto
This gentleman was from the golden era of Hollywood. Absolute best.
Robert Mitchum was really a giant of the screen, I miss him so much, specially after watching which are the so called stars these days
What year is this when Robert Mitchum guested in SNL?
'87
You should pay attention and read the description. It's CLEARLY written there.
@@michaelnorman3393 thanks
@@HamsterNice pleasure 😉
They must have paid him a lot to come on SNL.
Bobby Mitch!
