    I've been uploading traditional archery, bow hunting, and bow building videos for over five years now! In an effort to upload great hot-to videos and archery hunting films on a regular basis I've set up a crowd funding page on Patreon.
    Of course all my content is free but, if you sign up as a contributor, you'll get some additional incentives. You can choose a support level that works for you and know that you'll have great videos coming every week.
    I'll continue to do regular videos on longbow and recurve archery and public land bowhunting for deer and elk. But I'm also starting to branch out into other areas of survival skills, bushcraft, hide tanning, and self reliance. Stay tuned and visit the Patreon page!

    Glad to help - your bow building series brought my son and I together in the garage covered in dust ... Worth every penny!

    I really appreciate your channel. I don't have much interest in bow-hunting but I have found your traditional archery technique vids to be super helpful. Thanks for what you do and what you bring and when possible I'll support your channel.

      Ok very cool.. As someone who is new to archery and wants to work up to amateur 3D competition and/or other traditional tournament events that might include longer ranges like 100 yds or so, is there a minimum bow weight and length that I would need to work up to? The reason I ask is that I'm considering a basic recurve bow where I can start with a lower draw weight of 25# and later get heavier replacement limbs as my form is stabilized and I can work up to longer ranges.

    Please just don't "sell out" to these commercialized tv or youtube shows. The reason I watch your videos is because they're real. I don't mind not always seeing the kill shot, or a camera falling over. I'd rather watch hard earned failures than paid for successes. Hunting to me is about solitude and outdoor adventure, and not just about killing an animal. That's why I hunt alone and why I use traditional gear. I'd like to see you continue on the way you have been. Yes, I'd like to see more hunting and wildlife footage, but not a 20 minute commercial.

    • @clayhayeshunter

      Exactly! That's part of the reason I've started this page. There isn't a ton of money in the traditional archery/bowhunting niche so sponsors aren't exactly beating down my door. But I have had to turn down some potential sponsors because I didn't feel like they aligned with what I'm all about. The few companies I do partner with are good people I know personally. I've avoided creating infomercials and will continue to do so!

      Amen! I hunt primitive archery because I’m all about the stalk and getting Stickbow close. Clay you do a great job of showing the mindset, preparation and execution of a good stalk. So many folks are all about the kill shot, but neglect how to get to that point. Keep up the good work!

    Hey bro, do more hunts in SC and I’ll video you for free.
    I truly understand the situation, and don’t mind seeing well done product placement, but most everything I use to watch on hunting shows is all about products only. So I don’t watch. I believe you can incorporate your sponsorships and still give awesome footage I won’t mind watching. I’m rooting for you and looking forward to seeing more in the future.

    Your channel is my favorite and I watch a lot of channels. Definitely worth it. However. I do like you DIY format. But I am sure it’s tough. I filmed a white tail hunt last fall and it was in a treestand with a crossbow and it was still a lot to manage. I took the long bow out to try and film myself filling a doe tag a week later and it was a disaster lol.

    • @clayhayeshunter
      @clayhayeshunter  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I could do a lot more tree stand type stuff but I much prefer to hunt on the ground. You never see this suff on the outdoor channel for a reason! It's damn tough!

      Clay Hayes you make it look easy. I gotta say I think that you are a great spokesman’s for the sport and especially the advocacy for public land. Here in the east we do have public land but not on the scale as it is in the west. Regardless public provides incredible opportunities for people to get involved. Whether it’s archery deer hunting or bird hunting. My point being , so many people believe that success is based on how much money you spend on gear etc and here you are, a guy that carves his own bows out of logs and shoots elk on public land!! It doesn’t get any better.

    I am a proud "freeloader "!😅
    I know what you mean. I could have built 6 bows in the time it took me to put together my 3 part video of a Birth of a Bow. Very time consuming. Wish I could help but I can barely afford my hobbies. I would definitely contribute if I could. My wife would kill me but I'd come film you for free if I could do a little fly fishing on the side.
    Your back tension video helped our team alot by the way. Our high school team took first yesterday and my daughter second overall.
    Keep em coming

    Love you and eveeything you do. If i wasnt married with young children, i would do it for room and board just to be in some of the areas you are in. Clay, just film the animal you are about to stalk. Then pickup filming with the animal you have taken or not taken. And tell story on camera about what happened. We trust ypu, you have good ethics. Dont always need to see the "shot". Love the story behind the hunt. Keep doing what you are doing! Everythings great the way it is!

    Hey Clay! Just an idea, have you thought about using a go pro? You avoid all these problems with the camera and you don't need someone else. Kudos to you! I love your videos.

    • @clayhayeshunter
      @clayhayeshunter  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have and do. A gopro is very useful in limited situations to get POV shots. But it doesn't compare to the footage from a good quality DSLR. And the audio is terrible.

    Which bows would you recommend for someone who wants to get started with trad bows? I'm not wanting to spend a lot just yet bc I don't know how into this I'll get. Thanks

    • @clayhayeshunter
      @clayhayeshunter  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can find some older bows for relatively cheap. Whatever you get, get a light one, something less than 40 lbs.

    Totally hearing you... one man show here too... and the only reason I can't make more tutorials and set things up for tutorials is exactly that... I can't take a whole day to make a video that doesn't make me any money. Awful truth! I'll check out the patreon page!

    hi clay, heres an idea that might help fund itself, howabout offering up guided hunts to people with part exchange money for your services combine with having them film your hunt/their hunt etc.

    Patreon is ok.... BUT like myself, others don't want to get locked into an automatically monthly payment and that is what Patreon does. As an adjunct, Paypal account allows you to get recurring AND one time payments. I make a lot of donations to you tube video content creators when I use their video or when I even just like them.

    • @clayhayeshunter
      @clayhayeshunter  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, I’ll mention that in the description on patreon! On a side note, a patron could cancel their payments at any time.

    • @clayhayeshunter

      I make my own bows. I've also got a bunch of youtube videos showing how to do it. The content on Patreon goes way beyond what's on youtube.

    Clay have you approached or been approached by any of the producers of outdoor TV shows? Not sure if thats an avenue worth considering. Also regarding Patreon, is there a way to make a one time contribution? I really dislike the idea of recurring charges. If i had any camera experience id offer to be your camera man free of charge, we dont live that far away from each other.

    • @clayhayeshunter
      @clayhayeshunter  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Shelton, shoot me an email through the website. As to the TV shows, the reason you don't see any traditional based shows comes down to a lack of sponsor dollars. There just isn't much money in the trad world and without promoting a bunch of unnecessary stuff, the finances just don't work. Air time is ridiculously expensive!

    • @vcash1112
      @vcash1112 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Clay Hayes Make a documentary of trad bow hunting directed to a company like Netflix or Outdoor TV shows, why not? I think it’s possible if you are that good ! So what if you have to promote unnecessary stuff. I think to make this happen you have to believe in you and become a good business man ! I think there’s company’s out there like Bearpaw Tradional archery & accessories that would sponsor a video production...
