- Hi there, Doug Stuman with IT Creations. The Dell EMC PowerEdge R6515 server was released a few short, years, ago but it’s still new to us, so enough justification for a short review of the guts of this system. It offers a 1U form factor with a few hybrid storage conditions for SFF or LFF form factors. It has a 1U chassis with a single AMD EPYC CPU. It can be configured with up to 3TB of memory, plus a few other Dell-centric bits like the optional BOSS and IDSDM. This platform is designed to work with a single second- or third-generation AMD EPYC processor. The compact design at 1U means you can probably squeeze this sucker in just about anywhere. With only a single CPU it’s also designed to provide a reduced total cost of ownership because, let’s face facts, CPUs are expensive! It’s designed for virtualization… Watch the video!

what socket of NVMe connector? is it U2?
Hi there!
They are U.2 NVMe drives.
@@Itcreations-LA so, I can install up to 8 NVMe drives U.2, right? Do I need to install controller or connectors or it is ready for NVMe plug?
@@maherkhalil007
I do not think these systems are offered with field replaceable units for the backplane and whatnot. If you have the 10x bay system that supports SAS, SATA or NVMe then, yes, no controller is needed and the onboard controller will manage the drives which are 8x SAS, SATA or NVMe PLUS 2x NVMe. You could also install a controller for more options, VROC is not listed as an option. The 8x bay system has a SAS, SATA backplane and apparently not set up for NVMe. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
@@Itcreations-LA dell say it have the 10x bay for NVMe, but I am confused what is the connector, is it NVMe hhhh interface or M.2 do you have any idea?
@@maherkhalil007
Not M.2. M.2 has a completely different form factor. NVMe U.2 look like regular SSDs. Like this: www.itcreations.com/product/130336
I won't buy anything. This way I save everything, not just 500 ;)
There is that!
