Our LOVE LETTER to Madagascar. Sailing in Madagascar and why you shouldn't rush while cruising.

- We bet you’ll ask - Why do we see Umadum in Madagascar if they have been there in 2017? The answer is easy - we never had time to make a film about our beloved island Madagascar, which maybe is one of the best cruising grounds of the world.
Let’s look back to the time of 2017. To our normal world with the lemurs, with the whales, with a classical concert on the top of the moutain, with local carnivals and fiestas. And to the question why you should take your time while you are cruising.
We started the Indian ocean crossing in Malaysia, sailed to Sumatra and down till we found the wind and then the real ocean crossing started. After 4000 nautical miles at sea we arrived to the red island Madagascar.
The northern tip of Madagascar, Cap d'Ambre, is well knowing for pretty high waves, because of two strong currents meeting there. In this film Guenther is sharing his tips and tricks how to round this cape easyly.
After 3 days of rest at anchor in one of the northern bays we started sailing south - good wind, flat seas, what a fun to sail there. Sometimes we alternated our course to sail near to the reefs for very good and succeful fishing.
Most of our time we spent around Nosy Be island, on the northwestern side of Madagascar. All transportation is done by traditional local sailing boats - there are no engines, only sails. And these people are very very good sailors.
Everything was colorful there - markets, clothes, food, music, dances. And everything was full of contrasts - one day we went to the classical music concert on the top of the mountain and few days later we were guests at local fiesta in one of the small villages.
So, take a deap breath and dive with us into this beautiful world of Madagascar. You will see - why it’s so important to sail fast, but to cruise slow - you will never get all this experience if you rush from one anchorage to another. Take you time.
Love, Peace and Ocean Breeze
Tali and Guenther

Great video , I would love to see more of your adventures.
There are a lot of films to see on our channel, the newest one comes this Friday, if internet strength allows to upload from the paradise we are now..
😉🥂⛵️🎥❤️
Another joy to watch and hear the blend of music and storytelling in your lives. The experience of sharing time with locals is what traveling and a cruising life gives in abundance! Nothing compares.
Thanks and best greetings to the little whale
❤️😉🥂
Just blown away at the local sailboats. Even a small sail canoe.
The local sailing vessels are truly a spectacle! Dreamy music to go along 👍
Thank you for sharing

What a beautiful video, thanks for sharing. So glad to see you guys are safe and healthy. Your adventures continue......
Thanks again
Be safe and good sailing 🌴🌞⛵🍹
😉🥂⛵️❤️🎥
I love the fact that you advocate cruising slowly, but have one of the fastest passage makers of all the channels that I subscribe to. Got it just about right I think.
Our motto is: sail fast but cruise slowly. 😉

Sorry, I have watched all vids since crossing Indian Ocean, should have picked up on that one. Anyway, hope you have some vids from Panama saved for us.
Coming...
Thank you guys for such a beautiful insight! I have missed Madagascar last time....won't miss it next time!!!
Yes, it’s sure worth to visit. I have been 4 times there already, so guess which is my favorite island...😉
An excellent episode, thank you for sharing your journey with us.
Happy to share with you... 😉🥂⛵️❤️
Kia Ora team Umadum. You have done it once again, your videos give so much pleasure to this senior cruiser, more please. Roger from FerrariSailing
Thanks Roger, happy you enjoyed 😉🥂⛵️🎥❤️
Какие классные ребята. Странно, что так мало подписчиков.
BRILLIANT Vlog . .... great to see ye posting again .... cheers from Ireland
We are normally posting our films every 3 weeks. If you make not only bla bla films, it takes some time. And all the work besides cruising...
@@UmadumSailing Very true, and worth waiting for. Happy sailing
Welcome back ... I've missed you! I can't remember how long it's been since your last vlog. I will be saving this video, this time, to continue enjoying until your next one ... I love y'all! Shoutout from Florida, USA! Looks like you are healthy and happy! Keep your quality videos coming!
We normally post every 3 weeks. Depending a bit what goes on in our cruising live.
A beautiful video of a wonderful place by two awesome people who happen to be sailors. Would loved to have seen her make those dishes at the end. =) Fair winds to you both.
Thanks Randy! Local food is one of the interesting part of the culture of a country
Enjoyed that immensely. Thank you.
Thanks! 😉🥂⛵️❤️🎥
Great story from Madagascar. I hope you two are well and safe and are still able to cruise with relative ease during this pandemic. Cheers!
Yes, we are ok. Cruising with ease: not really. Before the pandemic we loved to make not too much plans, now you cannot...
Wonderfull I hope to come sailing to Madagascar from SouthAfrica in my little Wharram catamaran Tiki 26.
All the best! Sailed a Wharram the first 5 years of my live aboard 😉😎
very beautifull, thank you!
You’re welcome🥂⛵️❤️
I would like to be there now… Beautiful.
Yes, we too - but sailing to the San Blas islands in 2 days, not bad too...
@@UmadumSailing enjoy!
We do...
Well done keep them coming please
Will do...😉
Very special, thanks
Thank you sooo much!
Thank YOU for this comment 😉🥂⛵️❤️🎥
Incredible
Thanks!,,
It seems this channel has far too few followers. Much better content, story telling is superb, and editing is great; far beyond what we get from channels that focus on clicks.
Thanks for this comment! It seems that the audience nowadays likes the clock bait content more. But we are happy to get replies like yours, helps to go on working on the films 😉⛵️🥂🥂❤️🎥
Good one.
Thank you! 😉🥂⛵️
What a stunning place :)
One of our favorite cruising destinations...
Have been there 4 times already...😉🥂⛵️❤️🎥
Nice!
Thanks Eric, hope you enjoy/enjoyed your holiday in Europe😉⛵️⛵️❤️🎥
Today, your video clip from Madagascar has pop up on mine. Interestingly, I have missed this one at the time of watching your adventures. May I ask you how are you and how is going your recovery?
Regards, Boba
Not good. Go to Europe for more treatment soon. Might have to sell the boat when we come back in summer…
My dear friends. Merry Christmas and new year. What is the situation with you?
14kts! For those whove never sailed, 14 knots is cookin!
thank you very much Umadum. by Roberto RAJAOFETRA
Was a pleasure to have you in our film, thank you!!!!
@@UmadumSailing where are you now ?

I would love to get there with my cat…….thx, Andrew
Just untie the lines.... 😉🥂⛵️
🏖Buenas dios to 2 of the longest sailing adventurers that i have met. Such delicious looking lobster flambeau, on a beer budget; and Captain your dont look a year older 🎉Happy Birthday to you🎶Happy Birthday to you🎵Happy Birthday Captain Guenther 🎊Happy Birthday to you. 👓Talli very nice choreography capturing peoples hearts in actions, and to think you had breaching whales so close to your ship....they are art work in themselves, in Chicago we only see the whales on the beach getting suntans. Very enjoyable journey glad you are safe and you both look in decent health and i express best wishes to you and your continued journey, of life*.💓👋
Thanks Ross! What a comment! ❤️🎥⛵️🥂
Aye m8’s, yes you really have put Madagascar on the map before this and now it is definit!
Happy traveling Miq

Where are you now. Roberto thé lutherian
In the midth of the crisis you show people who still work. Imagine the Europeans out of energy carrying sand sacks all day long. I feel the real 3rd world is us drowning in decadence and better knowing. I moved to South America to breath the air of at least some individual freedom again. Others escaped to Austria (just kidding).
I would like to hear how harbours welcome you these days. Unwashed one cannot cross over to Colombia anymore and Brasil wants 5 days of bathroom isolation to be sure one is clean.
Yeah, this are mad times. And how fast everything what was achieved in the last 50 years is turned back in just 1 year...
