Is there a proof for why the absolute value of complex numbers is the square root. Just curious where this comes from. I mean why are we allowed to ignore the "i". Thank you.
the absolute value symbol is also seen when calculating distance between two vector points. I think searching up argand diagram may help answer your question
Well...in a graph it would make sense cause the i lets you know where the point is and if you want to find the distance from the origin it makes a triangle...from then on uses the Pythagorean thereom ...basically we just needed to find the distance
Absolute Value means the distance from 0. When you graph the complex number on the complex plane, the distance formula, or Pythagorean theorem (same thing) is used to find the distance from the point to the origin. The distance from zero. The absolute value. Watch this for how to graph on the complex plane: th-cam.com/video/BJ6b9t0ryhU/w-d-xo.html
I'm guessing because the function of absolute value destroys or erases any information on the locations of the actual point, so the "i" becomes meaningless since the function doesn't care about location, and instead it only returns the distance from zero to any direction, including the complex plane. Thats my best guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

MR. Organic Chemistry Tutor, thank you for a solid explanation of the Absolute Value of Complex Numbers.
didn’t even take 5 minutes of my day 😃
Thankz brother wish u long live🥰

Absolute value is distance from number to zero that's why do pythagoras it will give you the distance between complex number and zero
I love you, man
Please sir can you make a video on complex number and loci??
Yeah loci Sir please
Is this magnitude and direction ?
What about the absolute value of i
it’s 1
