Owner of GS...can say it has some issues in terms of gear stiffness, service cost and the tank as most of others have pointed out...but trust me, the ride quality is satisfying as hell and the bmw community is awesome in terms of group rides and other recreation stuff.
But all the bells and whistles are useless if bells don’t ring and whistles don’t sound! Yes KTM has slipper cluth but it doesn’t perform very well it does have TC but its too aggressive if it works! In a Entry level bike if you are upgrading from commuter I think BMW offer better performance than KTM it ! It actually is a ADV compared to KTM ! BMW is premium and service cost is soo much that you might cry !

True beyond belief. You may think the softness will keep your bum soft but that’s for thin guys. Anything more than an average build and your ass will go numb even on 25-30 km city rides on scooters. It’s the suspension preload you need to get adjusted on the 390 not the seat. The seat is wide and beeyoootiful!

GS motor feels too stressed at 100-110 kmph onwards. I don't know why it's the case considering it has enough power to sustain those speeds. While KTM feels relaxed even at 130kmph.
Bro!, The power is ktm adventure 390 is very much superior to the bmw 310. on road or off - adventure 390 with its 43.5 PS @ 9000 rpm of power is massive in its segment and is the best. i also personally use after market suspension and its just amazing. electronics are just super, such good balance in all kinds of terrain!!!. if any one is confused between the both, just go with adventure 390. its worth it.

Hello everyone. I live in europe. In my free time we go on very long tours across Europe in a camper. We have an Aprilia SR 200 GT scooter on board. The scooter is our little dinghy. We like to drive small country roads, including unpaved paths. All with two people. Me and my wife as pillion passengers in the back seat. Now I would like to swap the scooter for the GS or the KTM. Which suspension is better suited for 2 people. Total weight approx. 145 kg. Plus top case and two panniers.
Both will go for a toss....just let the Triumph Scrambler 400X come around in October and the Himalayan450 in Nov!...as it is the BMW310GS sells in negligible numbers. I love your presentation style, Dhanil....good that the tall guy who used to keep shouting is gone. Keep it up!👍
Not happening. The Himalayan 450 platform is already dated. For some reason RE has taken ages for testing. The chassis is already on the heavier side compared to these both. Triumph Scrambler 400X will mostly compete with the likes of Xpulse 400. By 2024 the KTM 390 ADV will anyways mimic a pure off-roader design. So it's all about what yardstick we select. Either Price or Performance.

torque doesn't change. however the traction control allows for some more slip before intervening. This gives the feeling that there is more torque now, but in reality it is not the case. It is just that traction control intervenes a bit later. you'll notice this difference only when stuck in mud or very slow off roading.

I think i am going to keep my CBR 250r. It has no vibrations at all. And the suspension is also fine for longer rides. Maybe ill get the seats cushioned and handle bar raised.
BMW adds additional illegal charges to people which you can't remove unless you file a consumer complaint. Basically you overpaid for the bike. The official price is 3.8 but dealers will add a handling cost to improve their margins.
I personally drove all the bikes in this segment . All the aspects such as vibrations , suspension , gear shifting , ease of driving , service cost , spares etc what matters most is how well one can drive the vehicle in the city ? To my perspective, ease of driving , turning radius , overall weight balance and ease of handling is most important . Rest all aspects are more or the less similar . How often we go on long touring ? And how often we go off roads . I have hardly seen anyone going off road touring in India , most of the bikers are going on road touring . When I drive in city with both these bikes numerous times , they both perform well just that BMW GS 310 is way easy to handle in the traffic than KTM due to its weight balance & short turning radius and yes of course it’s low sitting height as compared to ktm adventure . These days bike are very heavy while driving in city . Lastly looks does matter esp when one riding with BMW brand logo . People turn back to see your bike while driving . I think this matters to everyone . My BMW is on its way on Padhwa !!! Drive both the vehicles 4-5 times then go for it . Cheers 🥂
The engine is plenty punchy if you aren't a chapri. Only chapris will call the 310cc engine as lacking power. Yes it's slower than the KTM but at around 8 seconds to the 100 kph mark it's plenty fast and it can sit at 100 kph all day long which is all you ever need for a touring bike. Yes if you like spirited riding it ain't great but then this is a tourer and not a track bike.
It has one of the best suspension in it's class. It was an amazing bike in terms of soaking up bumps on the roads. Easily the most comfortable bike I have ridden. Even the KTM is made by Bajaj but it's a good bike in it's class as well.

This is actually a very good bike currently in the market . Very easy to handle and super light . Unfortunately in India what matters is brand and fancy stuff . My self to liked the Suzuki v strom but eventually went for BMW GS 310 . Bete ko suzuki down graded laga 😅. But honestly the v strom is way better bike . Go for it !!

KTM has become Chapri's Brand due to rainbow colorheads spoiling its image. The KTM is a great bike to ride. But anyone having that top dollar will prefer BMW. You cannot beat the German pedigree

BMW holds badge value and feels like a tall motorcycle. Considering the all around value, KTM adv 390 is the motorcycle to go for.

Harder seat is best suited for long hauls. Softer seat will make your bum dig inside the foam, causing numbness

Riding modes in sub 5lakh bikes only tweaks the ABS sensitivity. So it's more like ABS mode. No changes to the power delivery what so ever

adv x in chennai on road was 3.32L
In kerala onroad is 4.38 L now. Showroom gives a 15k discount so 4.23 L
The real difference is the 44bhp KTM engine - star of the show.
I think i am going to keep my CBR 250r. It has no vibrations at all. And the suspension is also fine for longer rides.
Maybe ill get the seats cushioned and handle bar raised.

When it comes to BMW, even the engine should match the "big bike feel". How on earth is having a vibey and not so punchy engine good for touring?
The engine is plenty punchy if you aren't a chapri. Only chapris will call the 310cc engine as lacking power. On our broken highways the softer suspension helps a lot. The BMW can swallow bumps easily.
