I remember typing "Gran Turismo 2 mods" into TH-cam when I was 12 (2006) expecting to see people adding new cars into the game, so I was extremely disappointed when I found that the only mods were adding cut cars back into the game and drivable license test trophies. My dream has come true now though. It's crazy how it's taken so long for people to start making mods for the game.
The breakthrough was when adeyblue wrote a tool that could re-pack the game's files in about 2017, then once I found that a year later I wrote some tools for entirely self-serving purposes (e.g. adding car colours so I could have a blue and white Viper, adding new car parts so I could race modify the Prius). After that, model editing was a case of inspecting Leo2236's model viewer and doing the reverse of what it does, and commongear came along and figured out the last piece of that puzzle in 2021. There haven't been many big breakthroughs since then, but people are starting to use the tools which is great to see.

There is a psOne racing game called „Vanishing Point“, which I enjoyed playing back then. If you do it right its nice but if not some glitches appear, like when you accelerate while the car lies sideways, it turns into a raging tornado…that video reminds me of those wtf moments…

You wouldn't want to run it on an actual ps1 anyway. I truly don't understand why do people punish themselves by playing on an old hardware like this nowadays. It's a subpar experience.
@HWTsuchiyaNathan to each their own, I guess, but I played on ps1 my whole childhood at the end of the 90s, and modern monitors/tvs offer much better experience, even through emulators (thanks to improved graphics or performance, for example). I just truly don't get it. Maybe it's cool for someone who never lived in that era, to experience it at least for a moment, but to me, it's just not good. Even the modern controllers are way better than the old ones (for example the original playstation joystick without analogs, it was such a cheaply made pain in the ass).

@Artur Kwaszyn modern tvs have lower refresh rates and older games actually look WORSE on them than on CRTs.
