First off, I am really happy to see the lanky cerastus chassis knights all show up in plastic. As for the rules, usually me and my friends play with a homebrewed 'rout' rule where if you get tabled your opponent wins automatically.
I find there is something to being tabled but still winning on points. May I suggest routing gives a large number of points? It means it will likely give you the win. But there is a chance for the other player to be rewarded for getting enough objective points that they can win after being tabled
Codex rules “Have to acquire them from somewhere else” I don’t think you will be alone there. Just think of the guard players who didn’t get 6 months from their last one.
One thing I noticed with the Lancer was that it’s poseability was on another level to the Questoris/Abominant chassis Imperial/Chaos knights. The feet are ball & socket and the pistons and wires can be set to a desired length the toes are also individually poseable, whereas the older knights are one foot pose. The only thing that limits posing is the knee and hip joints but with a bit of cutting (literally just a tiny bit of plastic on the knees internal and bits of the disks that the pelvis slots into) you can make the legs infinitely more poseable (but probably less strong). The arms are also super posable with four articulation points in each arm and the arms ambidextrous so the lance and shield can swap sides. All I can really say is the specialist design studio have absolutely hit a home run with the Cerastus kits and it doesn’t surprise me one bit that the castigator has a fully posable ammo feed. Edit: the cockpit is fully interiored like canis rex but rather than awkwardly float off the carapace it slots into the body snugly. You can also leave the front of the cockpit unglued for painting since it has a load of screens on it, the fit within the body is so snug it just friction fits and once the carapace is glued on it’s all secured.
I feel like the reason the cerastus has so much versatility with posing is because they were originally made with resin on forgeworld, where they also had a tin of poseability. Imperial knights and the armigers (afaik) started out in plastic and thus unfortunately were made monopose in the legs. Perhaps a future update to the kit will allow for uniquely poseable legs

I emailed Games Workshop that I was literally waiting 5 years for the plastic floor tiles for the Zone Mortalis Necromunda boards to come back in stock. They responded to just keep checking the website. I caved and paid the eBay scalpers. A year and a half later they came back in stock for like 4 weeks.
@4:13 the retro chaos terminator, oh boy. such love. the universe brought me to the website a few months ago, and when i saw that mini i knew i had to buy a year sub. i collected in the 1990s. i was lucky to see this before they went out of print. he is still in box with the plastic wrap. up on my shelf.
i cant wait to "missapropriate" those ammo belts, feed chute and hopper box of the cerastus to feed the twin gatling cannons on my half build Chaos Knight despoiler

WH+ in the first year was absolutely great for me. I got the vindicare assassin, which is an absolutely gorgeous mini and a almost worth the price of the subscription. And the army builder is great, especially if you are a noob. When i started i couldnt use battlescribe without knowing all the rules. Battleforge had pictures of the units and was just a lot easier to manage and i still use it to build my armies. The shows are hit or miss, but still decent in my opinion. But yeah i didnt get it last year and not sure if i will get it this year, because the minis just werent for me.
As an old imperial guard player who started with the first plastic cadian, I really liked that illustration. It would have been even better if he came with his friend carrying the ammo box.
eBay scalping is getting bad on this side of the pond as well. My office is only 20 mins walk from Warhammer World but makes no difference. There are a few good independent retailers on eBay that have 40k stock in at affordable prices even when GW has nothing but their stock is disappearing fast. And not being replaced. Individual ebayers are selling at such inflated prices it makes me wonder how many are GW employees. I recently saw individual Skyhunter jetbikes selling at £50 each. So basically the price of a box of three. The nearest Warhammer store to where I live has so poor a level of stock that I have more unbuilt boxes of GW stuff than they do..... GW really needs to get it that we know have Mantic, Wargames Atlantic, Stargrave etc all selling at less than half the price of GW figures. Their reputation is already poor. They need to up their game. Not their prices.
And Mantic are coming up fast. Their older stuff could be fairly janky but the new plastics they are putting out are just getting better and better in quality.
For standard 40k, it depends on the mission; Only War will end when one side is defeated and the victor is left standing(regardles of VP). In Combat Patrol games, the game continues to round 5 regardless of an army being wiped out.
I played my 4th game of 10ed, and man did my 10 sternguard veterans put in work vs. my friend's custodes. That turn where Pedro Kantor gives them an extra shot, mwah... chef's kiss.
I would love to see an og knight that still has the woodcutting style. Unarmored but with giant claws& saws. Make it an ork spoil they found at some world. Happy kitbash
If memory serves, they got the guy who designed the Forgeworld Cerastus to do the plastic version, which is why it's so posable. It also highlights how lacklustre the original knights are in terms of posability. I'm sure they could improve the old knights with a similar leg set up (and probably add about $100 to the price at the same time. I wish I was being sarcastic), and they would be way better.
I was just going to convert a lancer knight up with a questoris and some 3d printed parts, but that ammo feed is just too cool! Although, given what has happened in the past, and given my burgeoning pile of shame, it might be prudent to bide my time. Maybe they'll combine these knights into a single kit.
@22:16 there may be a shortage of what ever they use to make models. due to the blockage of russian oil. perhaps they might source plastic from Boyan Slat, and the ocean cleanup project.
In tenth edition they included a clear stipulation in determining victors where if one army is completely destroyed, then the opposing army is the victor.
Interesting, I don't play big 40k at all, but in Kill Team the rule is you play out all 4 turns, even if someone was tabled (and tabled player absolutely can win).

I play tabled rule as game ends then mesuer to objectives as if you played till turn 5 for example table turn 3 you get 2 movements to get to objectives so if you can get in to objectives so if you can take an objective but cant move twice as you have to hold the objective if that makes sence.
You continue playing. It hace happened twice (one on kill team and on on 40k) where i have been table at the end of round 4 and my opponent cannot arrive to the VP zones due to bad advance roll or being too far away.
All 3 secondaries? Matched play now only uses 2 secondaries at a time now. Also we’ve usually talked out a game when some is tabled because physically moving models for a few minutes for points feels weird when you can just know the score just by checking secondaries
Well what i have done when ive tabled my opponent turn 3 . I usually draw the new cards i finished from the last round and do hypothetical moves" this moves 6 put a dice down this 12 can I do this ect . If its looking like i can catch up i continue moving the dice and if I past them good game. Shake hands win or loose its always fun " to fight in service of the greater good is our duty but also our privilege" For the empire !
to answer your rules question, yes your opponent continues. they draw cards and see if they can do them that turn, if not they proceed as if you still had models and then move on to the next turn and attempt their secondaries then. this is done for accurate army scoring.
I'm hoping the new knights are a jumping off point for Titans in plastic. Would they be insanely expensive? Yes, but cheaper than the resin. I love huge, epic 40K games with insane point totals and ridiculous war machines as large as a child... :)
In regard to getting tabled - it depends on the mission. If you're playing "Only War" from the Core Book then yes being tabled is an automatic loss. In any other currently published mission it is NOT an automatic loss unless you were already behind on Victory Points. If you're AHEAD on Victory Points, your opponent has to play out their remaining turns to try and beat your score.
This is something that i would build on the first one and then leave of all subsequent ones. with infantry only the first squad gets the pouches and extra trimmings the last squad are lucky they get weapons as im by that point tired of building the kit for the n-th time and painting extra bits on each one
When we play, if someone is tabled we just do some quick head math and call it a day. I’ve never seen a case where the game wasn’t close enough in score that someone being tabled didn’t end in a loss. We also frequently do concessions midgame if the outcome is inevitable and decided by a certain point…. That allows us to hopefully slip in one more game during the day. Speaking of out of stock, been waiting over a year on those war dogs for chaos knight…. I’m just saying.
I’d say if you’re tabled it depends on what type of game you’re playing, like if it’s matched play I’d say yes. You could still win, because you may have kept them from getting enough points in the earlier turns. While you may have “lost” on the table you may win on missions. Going off something similar to Kill Team matched play on that one. It makes sense to me. Lol.
While we're talking ammo feeds: Aggressors are quite adjustable. The instructions pair the arms up in a specific way but you could just ignore thst and switch the right arm assembly with any otfer right arm assembly and vice versa for the left arm. Meaning you can switch 3L and 3R different arms around those 3 torsos for more diversity. And now i cry a little for using my leftover Aggressors for Heavy Intercessors instead of Erradicators 🤦♂️ Btw: the only thing keeping you from using other torsos, switching Aggressors, Erradicators and Heavy Intercessors, is the Backpack.
when tabled you are and your opponent are meant to tally up how many points they will get from objectives on the board that they can get too and the declare winner after that
As someone new to the game at about a year I simply do not understand the out of stock situation. Every new item and every hood unit was out and when I would go to the lgs for say a new Kill Team box to preorder our shop was getting 3 boxes, they could even ask for more. Hopefully they open new factories or something
I know the feeling with the model restock rate, trygon's and mawlocs have become so out of stock they are no longer on the Australian GW page. As for when to finish, in some instances if the enemy still have to take their round for the game turn than they get to have it then the game ends with the end of said game turn. My local store uses the "golden snitch rule" where the game ends immediately, basically get what points you need first because if you wanted more points so that you would win than you shouldn't have nuked that last gaunt lol.
I agree with you on Fire Overwatch. In fact I'm really confused why we all play it that way. The core rules say you need an unmodified hit roll of 6 "irrespective of the weapons ballistic skill". So shouldn't we ignore the "N/A" under Ballistic Skill and need 6s?
I loooove the Karskin Artwork - It was always THE guard artwork for me, along with the bogstandard cadian trooper carring the ammo box. Battlehardened veterans that have seen things.

Not just 40k that's out of stock - I've been waiting for a whole bunch of Gloomspite Gitz models since before Xmas last year. The Squig Christmas box prompted me to start a Gitz army, but half a dozen kits have been "temporarily" out of stock since then... It's getting beyond a joke...
The only thing you get on the app is having more lists in the builder. That’s it. Free version only allows you to have one list at a time. It’s not worth it at all
The real request should be build more factories. Place one in Tennessee and one one in Australia. That way shipping time will be less than what it is now and will cost less.
The Webkinz reference really threw me back. Did you play as a kid and what was your first pet? I had a Reindeer and I wish I could remember what I named him.
And then there are the Jump Pack Intercessors. They literally took the assault intercessors in the 3d modeling software, added some tactical rocks and jump packs, and called it good. Too cheap to even give them flight stands (yes I know no one likes them, but all the other Flying Primaris infantry have them.)
A high up source in forgeworld confirmed that they view forgeworld kits as an “advanced hobby kit.“ that source claims that they intend the difficulty of construction for the plastic kits to be next level for next level hobbyists.
in polish horus heresy tournaments when you get tabled you automatically lose 20-0, that's kinda funny bc if u have like 1 only one tactical marine you can lose around 15-5, and if u lose him it's 20-0
The out of stock GW stuff does come back, especially if you smash that email button so they can gauge how many people are needing that unit to come back. They do, just ask any Skaven player, we waited on gnawholes for a good long time
They had to do at least this much with the Plastic Cerastus, the resin kits had this poseability. It already had the pistons, the ammo feed, (although you had to bend that) mobility on every joint, etc. It would be a very bad look if 10 years later they make the kits plastic and they can't match the resin tech of a decade ago. Community would pull them to bits.

I am pretty sure GW is done adding "primaris" onto unit names now. the Vanguard vetes will get the same treatment sternguard got, just quietly turning them all into primaris.

The "totem things" are the crests. Weavefield crest, teleport crests, and the kahl has the double sided rampart crest.

To be fair, the bottomless aspect of the Dorn is a great storage solution for all of your extra weapon options if you magnetize them.

While we're talking ammo feeds: Aggressors are quite adjustable. The instructions pair the arms up in a specific way but you could just ignore thst and switch the right arm assembly with any otfer right arm assembly and vice versa for the left arm.
Meaning you can switch 3L and 3R different arms around those 3 torsos for more diversity.
And now i cry a little for using my leftover Aggressors for Heavy Intercessors instead of Erradicators 🤦♂️
Btw: the only thing keeping you from using other torsos, switching Aggressors, Erradicators and Heavy Intercessors, is the Backpack.
Maybe half hits for torrent (rounding up) with overwatch? To represent hurried shot so half the plume/surge/cloud etc. is wasted?
when tabled you are and your opponent are meant to tally up how many points they will get from objectives on the board that they can get too and the declare winner after that

As someone new to the game at about a year I simply do not understand the out of stock situation. Every new item and every hood unit was out and when I would go to the lgs for say a new Kill Team box to preorder our shop was getting 3 boxes, they could even ask for more. Hopefully they open new factories or something

I know the feeling with the model restock rate, trygon's and mawlocs have become so out of stock they are no longer on the Australian GW page.
As for when to finish, in some instances if the enemy still have to take their round for the game turn than they get to have it then the game ends with the end of said game turn.
My local store uses the "golden snitch rule" where the game ends immediately, basically get what points you need first because if you wanted more points so that you would win than you shouldn't have nuked that last gaunt lol.

The core rules say you need an unmodified hit roll of 6 "irrespective of the weapons ballistic skill". So shouldn't we ignore the "N/A" under Ballistic Skill and need 6s?
I loooove the Karskin Artwork - It was always THE guard artwork for me, along with the bogstandard cadian trooper carring the ammo box. Battlehardened veterans that have seen things.

Not just 40k that's out of stock - I've been waiting for a whole bunch of Gloomspite Gitz models since before Xmas last year. The Squig Christmas box prompted me to start a Gitz army, but half a dozen kits have been "temporarily" out of stock since then...

The only thing you get on the app is having more lists in the builder. That’s it. Free version only allows you to have one list at a time. It’s not worth it at all
The real request should be build more factories. Place one in Tennessee and one one in Australia. That way shipping time will be less than what it is now and will cost less.

And then there are the Jump Pack Intercessors. They literally took the assault intercessors in the 3d modeling software, added some tactical rocks and jump packs, and called it good. Too cheap to even give them flight stands (yes I know no one likes them, but all the other Flying Primaris infantry have them.)

in polish horus heresy tournaments when you get tabled you automatically lose 20-0, that's kinda funny bc if u have like 1 only one tactical marine you can lose around 15-5, and if u lose him it's 20-0
The out of stock GW stuff does come back, especially if you smash that email button so they can gauge how many people are needing that unit to come back. They do, just ask any Skaven player, we waited on gnawholes for a good long time

They had to do at least this much with the Plastic Cerastus, the resin kits had this poseability.
It already had the pistons, the ammo feed, (although you had to bend that) mobility on every joint, etc.
It would be a very bad look if 10 years later they make the kits plastic and they can't match the resin tech of a decade ago.
Community would pull them to bits.

I am pretty sure GW is done adding "primaris" onto unit names now. the Vanguard vetes will get the same treatment sternguard got, just quietly turning them all into primaris.
