Brothers Criss (Guitar) and Jon Oliva (Vocals and Keys) found the band in 1979. They were doing OK but at some point Jon wanted to do some other projects so they brought in Zach (the vocalist of this song) to replace him. Unfortunately after they recorded their first album with Zach (Edge of thorns), Chris got hit by a drunk driver and didn't make it. Jon came back and helped keep the band together for a while and they released some powerful stuff. This band wrote a few great concept albums and it is mode melodic than metal so you probably won't like them.
Jon left because he had to go to rehab, but he still wrote music and did the keyboards for edge of thorns. Their last album poets and madmen is a heavy album though
The lyrics are about the media and the modern religion of blindly following what the media, politicians and tv shows push on you through television. Especially in the early 90s when TV had such a strong hold on tbe the populace, and basically social engineered the people who watched it constantly
You didn't just react to "Follow Me" but to a "trilogy" per se: Labyrinths/Follow Me/Exit Music. It was supposed to be some kind of suite on the album. Actually, it is! Savatage kick major ass (they're my favourite band full stop,) but that supposed announced new "Curtain Call" album is just some BS. Jon Oliva is 98% dead (I love him to bits & I wish he outlived me but hey, gotta face the truth at some point,) and TSO takes all their time and money. Bring on the hate comments. Stone me. GREAT REACTION!!! Cheers from France! Phil, Sava-Fan since 1987.
