Well, this is a bit of a departure from my normal videos. It's a live run that I did without any restarts (mainly because you can't save replays of practice runs in EoSD) so the run is a bit crappy and it's not really showing off any specific feat.
I made this video for a few reasons though. First, Remilia's fight is awesome. It's heart-pumping, and it's pretty much the definition of the epic final fight. Secondly, I've had requests to do this stage and even to do it pacifist which I wanted to talk about, and third because I've seen a bunch of talk about people playing Remilia lately.

As a pretty bad player myself, I have found that playing on lunatic is really good for getting better. When you return to an easier difficulty, you feel far better and less stressed.

when i played on lunatic i failed to sakuya but when i played normal, i lost my 1cc to sakuya but beat all the stages and i did notice that but i do better in a stressed situation

It makes much more sense if Remilia is the one who says "Looks like it's gonna be a cold night." since she might be taunting Marisa that she will lose and she is going to suck her blood, thus making it a "cold night" (or just referring to the general lack of blood in vampires). But in this case it's Marisa who said it, so I'm betting it's either a random line ZUN pulled out of his ass and thought it was cool, or a case of the translator failing to communicate the original intent of the lines.

The shift key is sort of an essential.
Here's a more detailed list of controls and stuff to know:
Z to shoot(sometimes to charge certain attacks like Youmu's sword attack in TH13)
X to bomb(sometimes item based, sometimes power based)
C for trance(in TH13. you can activate trance mode if your gauge is full)
Shift to focus(in TH8, you switch to phantom mode this way)
Hold down shift if you need to micrododge(dodging WITHIN a barrage)
Don't if you need to macrododge(dodging an entire barrage)

Edit: Yea, Undertale can be hard in it's own way, it wasn't my intent to say that it isn't. Just saying that underestimating Touhou is a bad idea.
both games cant be compared, they both hard they both takes time and patience.
i finished touhou before sans , both have their own aspects and play styles , in touhou the attack pattern keep changes based on your character position so you need to look at your surroundings, however sans doesn't his attack will always be the same, but remembering the pattern, rythm, and timing is what makes it hard , touhou character travel faster than heart in undertale.
what makes it even more less comparable, touhou are a game that was made supposed to be a bullet hell game from the start, meanwhile undertale isn't, undertale was supposed to be a turn based RPG, but things changes when we meet sans in the genocide mode,we may thinks it looks like bullet hell but actually its not , its a rhythm game after all , however we also need to check on surroundings because sans can still attack us even in our turn, in the turn based game where enemies supposed to be stopped, so in the end both games can't be compared , both games have their own play styles, and one can't simply judge each other was easier game because they were both different.

@@spiderycider and also why i called it a rhytm because how slow the heart move compared to touhou so you need kinda prepare timing if you dont want to get hit , but well touhou bullets move on a random pace , sometime it was fast , sometime it was slow as hell , but due your character also can move fast thats the reason it can be dodged most of the time , both of games have an aspects that cant be compared ,i beat both of the game except on lunatic against sakuya / clownpiece

EoSD is difficult for different reasons than the rest of the series. It suffers a lot of fake difficulty, namely the differently-sized hitboxes and huge randomness elements. A large portion of Remilia's fight is random, which means victory is more a feat of luck than skill. Interestingly, LoLK suffers a few of the same problems.
For some reason I just find lunatic a bit discouraging to try and perfect =/ Could I? Almost certainly. Will I?

Personally, I didn't try to perfect things before moving onto higher difficulties. Your first clear of Hard/Lunatic/Extra etc. is going to be incredibly painful, but then it'll come easier and easier and you'll be able to rewatch your old replays and laugh =)
Sepette for the Dead princess is the most beautiful soundtrack ever. I love it's style, and how in a certain point it seems like the boss is atacking you with all she has. This gives a lot of chills.

First time I ever ran through on Normal and hit Remilia, I lost about 18 lives and had to use all my continues just to beat her. I got to her only losing 3 lives total on all the stages beforehand, but having never seen her attacks, I just melted at every spell xD
Good thing for hitbox patches otherwise this game would be purely impossible.

I managed to lunatic 1cc EoSD yesterday, Remi was the worst in that run because of the derps.
I could've 1cc'd it with more lives, but in the end I 1cc'd it with 1/1 left, I guess that's better than on hard atleast :V

Well I found out that ZUN started working on Touhou 6 since 1999 then by the near end of that same year year ZUN delayed Touhou 6 due to a lack of ideas. The game could have been released in '99

Grazing means your character touches the bullets, but it doesn't connect with the hitbox - where your character has to be hit to be counted for a hit. Grazing racks up points. And points = extra lives. Later games in the series focus a lot more on grazing, actually, so it pays to get close to death, I suppose.
I actually prefer Sakuya's old sprite over her new one's, It gave off a more threatening vibe, and I think it suited her personality more.

Hard/Lunatic has a different set of spell cards this is pretty much true for all stage 3 and up while stage 1-2 will sometimes have overlapping spell cards across all difficulties.

EOSD has severe input lag issues. Use the vsync patch.
EoSD has literally the worst grace period for bombing in any Touhou game to date. The grace period is a combination between input lag and when the game decides you can't bomb anymore. It is exceedingly rare to hit the bomb key in the same instance the death sound plays, because you can't react, you have to know before you even get hit it's going to happen.
Other games, like IN (Touhou 8) have an EXTREMELY long grace period of nearly a second and a half, which is one of the reasons its the easiest Touhou games; it's the reactive bombing training wheels game. (At least on Reimu/Yukari)

I like watching close battles where both parties take a couple of blows and are evenly matched. it's no fun watching those that are perfect at it and make it look like a breeze. a warrior needs battle scars.

I wouldn't say the hitbox is necessary, really. Not at this level.
Don't get me wrong, it is *absolutely* a good idea as you're learning the game. But, once you've gotten this good... you will have died enough times to kind of just 'know' where the hitbox is.
@coasterfan121 yes. there's a 2010 collection [torrent] on Ahodomo fansubs (entry titled "Touhou Project: Collection 2010 re-upload). If I remember correctly, the third iso contains the shooters themselves, 1st iso has doujin games, and 2nd iso has Seihou games.

Playing Lunatic mode makes you enjoy evading and grazing the bullets even though there is an another bullet to come to your path but you know where to go to dodge it, but mostly I play Extra Stages because some of this Stages are way harder than the Lunatic.
@Kashlikaro Funny as that would be, in Touhou Wiki it is said whether she can control fate willingly or not. A majority would say she does so unconsciously. Otherwise, she could have manipulated fate for Reimu/Marisa to lose in this.
