I've seen/heard him in several musicals and he always made me forgot my surroundings and got me completely into the song and then has me in ugly cry or with this huuuge smile on my face! Have been following him since he started in Les Miserables in 2008. Shortly after, he won a talent show in which he won the role of Joseph in Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat. I rarely fangirl over someone, but this guy is it. My age and he conquered life like a pro. Love him! Fun fact: he performed the Dutch version of this song in the finale of that Joseph talent show. Check "Op Zoek naar Joseph - Freek finale" for that version. It's the song he won with.
Wow, I have seen Freek Bartels live in a Dutch musical called Petticoat. I got tickets via my work, and I took my niece Loes because she is a big fan of him. But his performance here is a lot more impressive. I am going to send your reaction to this performance to Loes. She will love it. Thank you!
Saw a few years ago in AFAS Live in Amsterdam the musical 'Jesus Christ Superstar'. With the one and only Ted Neeley! Just fantastic!! What a great musical! This version is also very, very beautiful! 🙏

This is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Also, I would argue that _Jesus Christ Superstar_ is *more* for non-Religious (or at least non-Christian) folks than it is for Christians, as (some) Christians might find it, I don't know..... a bit blasphemous?
Best song from the musical. I went to a Christian school in the Netherlands. Jesus christ superstar the film was on the curriculum in the late 80s. Part of 'godsdienstles' (freely translated as 'religionclass') we were taught about all religions. (But it's the netherlands.. so...😏 ) They even hired a cinema for it for the whole school. 😎
