me and my girl rented a mitsubishi outlander with no mods on it and took it around Myrdalsjokull glacier. We started on road 261 and it too us 8 hours to reach route 1 on the other side. went through some deep rivers and got stuck tring to find a different way around without back tracking, was pretty scary shit for us cause everyone else who had a normal 4x4 broke down or couldnt make it over the rivers.
Did you go into Friðland að Fjallabaki (the Park) via F255 (also called Landmannaleið) or via F208 via the F26? I'm going in July, Land Cruiser, and I'm trying to figure out which route is better. Thanks for the vid, great info.
Cool video, did you travel in one of those convoy tours. Do I have to book a convoy tour or do people just follow other people on their 4x4s in these type of roads

must be a good experience to remember... Glad you got to route 1 safely. I would love to do it again... driving on F road.
not any 'tourists' i saw did well. A jeep ahead of us brokedown. some turned back.
since this drive was not planned out i would do it again with better prepping and organizing. we were lucky this time lol

We only went to Landmannalaugar, stayed at basecamp there for one night.
Hey which 208 did you take can you give me suggestions?
We took this road from route 1 to Landmannalauger in a Toyota Land Cruiser. No problems.

We rent 4x4 ourself, no tours. Just followed GPS, we did get lost but we asked other traveller and found our way...
I thought if you take 208 i don't have to cross rivers!, looks like you guys crossing the rivers a lot of times
+Mistah310 We took F208 from Landmanalaugar to Route 1 and continued to Jökulsárlón. There were many waters to cross but they were ok with SUV.
Did you guys have 4x4 on your car?
Yes 4x4
Did you guys get stuck at all? I am going in a month with a 4x4 Van and wanted to make sure it can handle the roads.
What car are you driving ?
+MrKytts I remember it was Chevy SUV.
+Vath. Sok its a Ford Escape...
I want to go there in my Jeep :D
Common American reaction, "I could do that in my Honda".
It would have been better if the mirror was not in the middle of the screen. Next time, put the camera further forward or on the hood.
Yes, I was disappointed that I didn't mount my camera at the right place.
@@VathSok Makes a good excuse for another trip !
We booked and planed another trip to Iceland this March, but now canceled everything because of what is going on now in the world...
