I suggest you try the Bridgestone Adventure Cross tire. Short life but awesome off and on road. I believe the Ankee Wild is a great tire too, but too pricey. However, the new Star on the stage is the MotOZ tractionator series,
pirelli scorpion rally str tire is an amazing tire for fast twisty , light gravel, offroad roads that have been used for light trials. they are realky grippy on roadx and offroad drop the pressure and will work fine. only downside is they dont last well, but if price is not an issue str are perfect. if you want to do mudd and sand, definitely get something more nobby.
Thanks for this complete and honest review, you really deserve more likes and subscribers. I notice that several 50/50 or 20/80 tyres are made for gravels and dry trails. It(s very diffuclt to find an Ok tyre on road with a good traction on mud/grass . Here, in north of France, we have a lot of rain and muddy trails. So you want grip on wet roads and traction in mud. Any adivce ?
Thank you! I will definitely test them, and there will be part 2 of this video coming out as soon as I manage to spend all the tires.l and make a proper comparison of them all.
Nice video! Will defnitely take it into consideration when I switch tires next. Also, could you tell me what phone mount you are using on your tenere? :)
I personally was quite impressed with where I could go with the stock pirellis, even when they were balled 8000km into a trip. For me the T7 is the most fun on twisty paved roads and the stock tires can be pushed right to the edge there. I say this as an off-roader who competes in off-road racing, never owned a street bike. I guess maybe the road is just a novelty for me? I was disappointment in knobby tires like the motoz rallz on this bike because it made the bike really slippery on the street and I had to cut back to about 50% on the pavement, for a mere 5% benefit off road. I feel like T7 and other adventure bikes are limited off road by the size, weight/inertia, top heaviness, and suspension significantly before a knobby can make much of a difference. When I get to the point that knobbys are required, I'm not having any fun at all man-handling the big T7 around and I have much more fun in that terrain on an enduro bike. I like to say it's like doing full effort intervals on an elliptical machine in the gym, riding hard off-road on a big bike. It really wears you out and you don't get much fun out of it in return! For those reasons I don't like shelling out a bunch of cash for those fancy knobbys on the T7. The shinko 805/804 is a slightly more aggressive 50/50 tire than the stock pirelli yet still can be pushed on the pavement and so that's my go to nowadays at half the cost of all the others, at least here in North America.
our best tyres are dunlop 908rr and mitchelin ankee wilds . we use a rear michelin tracker 140 and 908rr front on enduro tracks. if i was riding rocks and tar roads i would use ankee wilds front and back because they work so good on and off road . i am lucky enough to have a spare set of wheels so one set is more for enduro tracks. but every body wants a tyre that does off road in bad mud and good on road but you never get a tyre that does both . have fun.
Hi Adrian, thanks for entering the discussion 😁, well yes two sets of wheels is a solution, and I am also having two sets, 😀 where the more off road oriented one is 908 rear and 606 front and the other 50/50 set is Anlas Capra X.
Agreed with the D908 rear tyre. Best I've tried among Motoz rallz, TKC80, Goldentyre GT823 and GT723. I've done the whole Balkan TET (coastal countries) + 4000km tarmac on a rear tyre and it still had a bit more left (10.000km). I used in combo with a front Pirelli Scorpion Rally (not STR) which is awesome off-road and very durable too. Only thing bad was vibrations and wallowing until I used 30% of it. The rear D908rr is quiet when on the highway due to the cross shaped knobs.
Never tested tkc 70 rocks, but I believe its an excellent 80% road / 20% off road combination if you pair it with tkc 80 front (tested the tkc 80). Do not run a front tube tipe TT but tubeless TL, and then fit it wit a tube, the speed index of a tubeless tkc 80 is higher, and it is much more stable tyre for tarmac.
Anlas Capra X is a little bit more tarmac oriented, and provides more stability for longer routes. It is the best compromise I tested so far both off and on road. Front can be sketchy at high speed off roading ( not a rally setup ), but nothing dangerous, simply not allot of lug space. D606/908 set-up is perfect for off roading and it can handle tarmac connections, but as it is a off road design tyre 90/10, you will fill slipping during the cornering and on wet tarmac as any other off road tyre. I am changing them according to my plan of riding, but these two sets are my choices for now.
Have you tried the MItas EO7+ normal version ? Not Dakar ! I'm looking to change my Scorpions soon and plan a road trip to Norway and there some of the TET, probably 4000km on road with the T7 loaded up with camping gear.
I haven't tried the normal version rear tire, only the front one, rear was Dakar, you will handle the light green lanes with eo7+ but don't expect any special performance with it. Compared to Scorpions they will be better for sure. But maybe if you are going for Mitas 50/50 try e10 set, non dakar one. You will feel the difference for sure off road, and they will not be as sketchy as e07s.
@@advgrom The E10 is too much off-road biased for me, I'm really looking for something a little better off-road than the Scorpions without being scary on wet roads, that's why I thought the Mitas EO7+ as they advertise them as 60/40, I ride mostly on roads but expect to ride gravel roads next year in Norway.
I did many gravel roads in norway last year. In general they are Well maintained. Offroad strictly forbidden. You ll be fine with any 80/20 to 60/40 tire. I did many of the gravel roads on avon trailriders. I d go for a more aggressive front probably and a durable tire that s good on wet (!) Roads in the rear. 50/50 might be Overkill for norway.

thanks for the video, I'm looking for 70/30 tires, I wanted to buy dunlop trailmax mission, or Michelin Anakee Adventure or Continental TKC70 / TKC70 Rocks. He can tell me which ones will be good for asphalt but will do well in light terrain for country riding
Good road tire, and very good performer on wet asphalt is also Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR, if you re thinking about very very light hard pack gravel roads. In that segment the offer is really wide and everything will perform well. TKC 70 will last much longer for sure, and the performance is good enough. Avoid the Trailmax Mission, simply nothing special on any terain.
@@advgrom Thanks, then why is everyone praising the dunlop trialmax mission so much? I do not understand this. Have you dealt with Metzeler Karoo street or Karoo 4? What about Anlas R/X tires?
@@kamilmikoajczyk7040 I am not sure why the tyre is being praised that much. The tyre will last allot with mediocre performance. These are the negative sides: It woble at high speeds, it can cause tank slapping, the rear is extremely hard compound, and it doesn't work well on wet asphalt for a street oriented tyre. Anlas is a good tyre, I'm using CapraX for travelling and longer trips, so I'll say that it can be a good idea. Metzeler Karoo 4 I haven't tested, so I can't say anything about it, and Caroo Street comes as an OEM tyre for Africa Twin, and for your usage, which is very light off road and manly tarmac riding will also be a very good choice. Both the Pirelli scorpion STR and Karoo Street are tires with higher index of speed, and confidence inspiring tires on asphalt definitely.
The Dunlop trail max makes you’re bike feel less of a bike. Still a lot of tread to go on mine after 10k km but I’m just bored of my bike being weirdly limited just for longetivity.
@@ionutd84 use both Anlas Caprax, front Capra is much better than mission. The front Dunlop has a very noticeable woble at higher speeds while Anlas doesn't woble at all. Trailmax is the street tyre with mediocre street performance, the only benefit of it, is that it will last long until you are bored enough to finally change it.
