  • How to lower your touring Harley!! - very easy job all you will need is the kit which is listed below with the link. Tools all that's needed is motorcycle jack socket and wrench that fits the bolts that came with your kit our was 3/4 and a torque wrench. If we were not filming it only took us like 20 min with jacking bike up. Make sure you strap bike down to Jack after it's at desired height for safety. Also after test ride retorque to 40 ft/lbs. Make sure after some miles re check bolts. You might have to adjust headlight since your lowering the back only.
Make sure if you haven't to subscribe!!!

Ok let me start by saying that this is not a bashing, just some constructive criticism. I always appreciate people trying to help other people. The shock has an outer sleeve around the shock mount bushing and then an inner sleeve. These sleeves are generally bonded together with the rubber bushing. The rubber bushing will allot for a radial twist as the shock is going up and down. If you tighten up the mounts with the wheel and control arm hanging from the frame, and then lower the bike onto the suspension, the shock rubbers will be in a bind. Potentially after having a lot of weight on the bike and bottoming out, you can bend or possibly brake the shock. The correct procedure would be to put all 4 shock bolts in and leave just a pinch loose. Set the bike back on the ground and load the suspension with an average amount of weight. In my case, I ride alone sometime, and then with my wife sometimes. So I would have set the bike down and then sat on it and had a buddy tighten the 4 bolts. Allowing the rubber to twist one way when I get off the bike and then twist the other way when my wife is on with me. Hope this tidbit helps.

You might consider researching more on using Loctite...great product but only if used correctly. It cures anaerobically and sets up quickly. You should torque fastener as soon as installed. Going back later to torque, remove fastener and reapply Loctite! Also, red Loctite is for permanent fasteners and often requires heat to disassemble...blue probably a better choice in this application.
Also, you might consider using a tripod for filming and limit your handheld shots...would vastly improve the quality of your channel.
    Blessings and ride safe!

I got them on my 15 RGS, 2 UP WILL RUB, so I put on some dirty air ride system and it works great, the only thing is if you use of blocks alone you need to tighten the tension on your drive belt you'll be too loose the belt will wanna trip that's my experience,
There's a lot of people out there that would say that'll f up the geometry your bent the shaft of the strut I haven't had no problems or discomfort at all it's been on the bike already for 3 years

These lowering cheap lowering kits have been known to cause serious damage to your shocks and in some cases snap the swing arm. Be cautious using this kit. you could get hurt. Spend $200 on and air ride or lowering shocks now or pay later.

Is there anything on the block that helps lock it in place other than the bolt? I was wondering if there was a flare in the metal or something that helps that plate from sliding down after bouncing around. I’m not being a smart ass I am asking cuz I haven’t done anything like this before 😂.

They must have vastly changed the geometry on the newer touring models, I was always hesitant of getting a bagger because I'm 5'7 so I always messed around with V Rods.....then I sat on a 2020 Street Glide Special and oh man heaven lol. But I'm confused because at stops I can pretty much flat foot both sides, but really I always just put my right foot down, the balancing point on this bike is amazing, I do want to lower it as we were coming from Tomestone, stopped at a rest stop and as I was backing up my foot slipped on gravel and I dumped the bike, highway bars saved my ass and bike. The issue I had is I couldn't get the instant leverage and re assert my footing, did you guys ever do the legends system? And if so how do you like it? Does it measure up to the hype

My question is why not just get old bagger shocks that are shorter this seems to be a better way to do this and NOT as involved if you take a 13" shock and make it into a 15" shock that mite screw up the travel of that shock???

Installed a 2" lowering link just like this one on my '99 Road King hoping to lower the seat height. Seat height before installing kit was 28.5", after the install and using the 2" hole in the lowering bracket my seat height only dropped 1/2" to 28". Pretty disappointed because I have short legs and was hoping this lowering kit would allow me to flat foot instead of tippy toe when stopped. Consulted an experienced Harley mechanic and he suggested I scrap the lowering bracket and install shorter shocks. That's what I am going to do since the stock shocks on my bike are no longer holding air and needed to be replaced anyway. Also, by installing the shorter shocks there is no need to modify the saddle bags since the angle of the the shocks doesn't change, just the length of the shock changes. Just wondering if you guys actually measured the seat height before and after this install? If so, how much did it actually lower the seat height?

    • @robinmurray4273
      @robinmurray4273 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

If you lower the rear 2" then you will not see a 2" drop at the seat. You need to lower the rear 2" and the front 2" to get a 2"drop in the seat. You would need to lower the rear about 5" to see a 2" drop at the seat..not advisable..

Shitty way to lower you're bike, better invest in a reachseat or a shorter shock. There are lots of brands , cheaper than HD shocks, and that can be altered to you're specs. Brackets shown here , are not even made of steel , but of some kind of alloy.
Ride safe and a lot !

Would of been a how to if you showed us how to do it. Watched a lot of these bullshit how to lower. Nobody shows the last bolt out on removal. Or the 1st bolt in on the install. Seriously if you can do a true how to you cant leave that out. Come on!
Please wipe parts off when you have the opportunity. That design scares me, and I do understand that guys need lower bikes. Harley engineers designed those shocks at that angle for a reason. Suspensions are not be messed around with, Im sorry but that is not right. Be safe not cheap

Blades 22 only coming off of curbs with your exhaust. But you might also drag floorboards easier but just have to be cautious
