    Main points :-
    1. braking distance will decrease(apply both engine braking and brakes)
    2. During downhills the engine braking helps to retard the vehicle which is very effective than brakes.
    3. Fuel consumption will decrease

    Hi, Syed
I own a Honda Xblade(BS-VI), it's clearly mentioned in the owners manual to use engine braking.Engine braking doesn't do premature wear on any of your motorcycle parts. The engine is designed to handle stresses much higher than that.

There are no disadvantages of engine breaking on an engine whether it's a car or a motorcycle unless you do "DOWNSHIFTS without proper "REVMATCHING." Once you master the art of Rev Matching while downshifting and upshifting(not always required) even if your vehicle has no ABS, it won't matter. Just make sure you drain your engine oil at the right time and do use a good grade.

Engine braking will affect chain and sprocket but keeps ur engine like new. Better to replace chain sprockets instead of repairing an engine. Doing engine braking from last 3 years on my ktm1290 and even today my engine is smooth and powerful just like brand new. Replaced chain sprocket after 2 years.

What I do is when there is traffic ahead I close the throttle and use the natural engine braking without downshifting and when I feel that the gear is too high for the speed then I pull in the clutch and let the bike roll then apply brakes to stop. This way I can avoid the adverse effects of aggresive downshifting while saving fuel too

Engine braking reverses the direction of power flow... when we open the throttle, engine generates power and runs the wheel.. but when u do this "engine braking", the momentum of the bike will run the engine, meaning wheel will drive the chain and then chain will rotate the gear box, gear box to crank shaft and then to piston.. this is not the actual way of using an engine.... this is not what it is built for... and as he said about vacume, this plays a key role in damaging piston rings and gaskets... to keep ur engine cool and smooth, always use clutch when u r not opening the throttle (accelerating)... and yes "engine braking" is bad for clutch plates as well..

Engine braking doesn't wear out the chains. It's the bad maintenance which will wear it out quickly. Besides if the chain can handle a full on force from accelerations then why won't it be able to handle engine braking.

Similarly, if I want to accelerate in 2nd or 3 rd gear suddenly, a tik tik sound comes from engine and vanishes when it gains speed.

Bro engine braking pr engine speed barhti nahi, ghat jaati hai abruptly aur bike chunki apni momentum mein rhta hai, to clutch plate pr achanak se increased friction ki wajah se biker ko ek drag mahsoos hota hai. Ye hai engine braking. Aur jo tum bol rhe ho ki sirf engine cylinder mein heat paida hota hai, aisa nhi hai. Clutch plate aur braking disc mein bhi friction ki wajah se heat paida hota hai, isiliye traffic mein bike garam ho jaati hai.
Bahut regular engine braking nhi karni chahiye, clutch-plate pr jor padta hai. Although, clutch-plate change ho sakta hai lekin uske liye engine kholna pdega aur aap jaante hain ki factory assembled bike pr jb manual repairing ki jaati hai engine kholkar phir bike utni efficient nhi rh jaati. Baaki proper brake to bahar hai to ghis bhi jaaye, koi dikkat nhi badalne mein.
