    Hi ashley,i can not practice tongue posture because my tongue is too short,i can rest it toward the back to middle smooth part of palate but can not reach the front where it is very bumpy,i must be what they call tongue tie

    • @allsleepashley
      @allsleepashley  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, potentially a tongue tie. Though, many "tongue ties" can be minimized through specific exercises to improve range of motion and coordination of the tongue!

    Ashley, the right posterior side of my tongue has been very sore for over a year and I've tried everything I can think of (diet, exercise and stopping meds for a short period.) Can you offer suggestions? Thanks.

      Hi Carol, do you still have these symptoms. I have this exact symptom. I find that it might be directly tied to my speech. I may use the tongue too much forcing it against my teeth causing the tongue to be sore. I had a few crowns near where this soreness is and I believe I changed the way I speak since receiving crowns. I amnow working on proper tongue position and tongue functions in speech. Please let me knwo fi you hve found any helpful resources.

      @@gabriels6017 The 3 things I've found that help are Magnesium, Triple Calcium and an occasional antiacid to help with reflux, but normally I drink lemon juice to put acid in my stomach to close the valve. Hope this helps.

    My normal tongue posture is at the roof of my mouth however I notice that my tongue tends to rest closer on the left side than on the right side making it stronger and easier to move on the left than the right side and it causes facial imbalance. Is there anything I can do to strengthen it on the right side to balance it out?

    • @allsleepashley
      @allsleepashley  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, there are many exercises you can use to train symmetry-- suction holds, tongue waggles, hyoid mobilization, etc. The ones that don't exist on my channel eventually will :).

    I struggle with my tongue posture sometimes. I started mewing a year ago but the wrong way. I used to mew on the left side of my palate. Recently discovered that i was mewing incorrectly for almost a year and struggle to put it in the right position. Do you have any suggestions?

      It's difficult for me to say with the limited information you have given me. I suggest finding a myofunctional therapy near you for in-person guidance. If you can't find anyone near you, I'd be happy to do an online consultation to help guide you. You can find me at sommerspt.com.

    Mam i continuously breath through nose by keeping tongue on palate. I continuously inhale and exhale for a minute much times a day daily for relaxation. Will it make my face or chin get longer in size little bit? Pls reply

    • @allsleepashley
      @allsleepashley  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I want to make sure I'm understanding your question. Are you asking if nasal breathing and tongue-to-palate posture will elongate your face?

    • @nasreenakhuda
      @nasreenakhuda 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@allsleepashley yes mam. And by keeping tongue on palate and nasal breathing, the jaw grows, it will fully develop. So my lower jaw or chin dont longer? Even face also?. Pls reply 🙏

    • @allsleepashley
      @allsleepashley  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nasreenakhuda Based on the research in this field, a low resting tongue posture and open mouth posture are associated with narrow palates and longer faces. If you train resting tongue to palate posture and nasal breathing it will encourage widening of the palate and potentially, depending on your age, more forward growth of the palate (rather than elongation of the face). Your age, the frequency and duration, and the pressure in which you maintain this posture can all influence the results you may get from doing this. Other things may come into play here as well. Obtaining this posture not invasive and is free... so worth trying.

      @@allsleepashley mam actually i have a long chin. Will the lower palate also widens? If yes then my face would become little wide ryt? My face would become little small? And my chin also decrease in size? Like how many meters it will decrease? Pls reply :)

    • @allsleepashley
      @allsleepashley  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nasreenakhuda The lower jaw will not widen from making these postural and breathing changes. The change in width is impossible to predict- it depends on your age, how frequently you maintain this position and the degree of force you use, among other things.
