I'd like some elaboration on how you think careful veteran fearless infantry is the worst in the book?

I know right, the BTR infantry could be very nasty indeed

Most likely, it is because they have the worst or most mediocre equipment

How can you get only 4 T-72fm2s in a formation , as it looks like a min of 7 is needed ?

be cause the fins had fewer tanks and smaller units 4 is the max fir them

I think you guys are mistaking the Spearhead rule for Scout. Scout is staying gone to ground when you move. The Eryx has no moving ROF, so doesn't that mean, if they are pinned, they can't defensive fire?

Great review guys. Only minor comment is that I would have loved to have seen the colour schemes. Team Yankee has one major fault in that it is a single time zone as with FoW there are 3. We correct this by introducing 2, early and late. This makes preparing for a game much fairer. Ie if your doing an early Russian army you don't have to be worried about M1A1 tanks being on the other side. While late Team Yankee is more free form. Using early and late for the Fins would mean you facing T-55s and standard T-72s. While in lates your looking at fully optioned T-72s and Leopard 1s. This way you don't show up to a gun fight with a knife, and we've all done that.
So far it looks good you can make a mixed force of Scandinavian forces. Back in the day you had the Nordefco alliance, often referred to as the Scandinavian NATO. These forces were not intended to fight alone long term. In short just like NATO if you attack one of us you attack all. This certainly made Putin think think twice before attacking Finland. Also most Scandinavian countries had Friends of NATO status. Oddly under this agreement Finnish infantry was classified as Mountain troops.
This is why the Scandinavian armies participated in so many UN peace keeping forces, especially in the middle east. This leads to many ideas for battles using Oil Wars if any of these missions turned hot. Such as instead of push through a Finnish peace keeping force an Israeli force trying to invade Lebanon fifired upon them and Finland was given permission to use deadly force. So I see many options available for this Scandinavian Forces book.
On the other hand it was perhaps a mistake that Finland became a full member of the EU as they were cherry picked for the European Army. Such as Finnish special forces come under the command of the Dutch army. So I would have no issues with making a cherry picked army list as long as it is not a cheesy army list.
In our group we use infantry heavy armies and when a person plays against one of our group they invariably bring a tank heavy army and they usually lose. They often almost accuse us of cheating. So we tend to do a lot of after game talking to show very clearly what happened and how it was done well within the rules. Gamers from other groups never seemed to have experienced an infantry based force.
When you are talking about formations your really talking about the endurance of an army that has to be balanced with the staying power and fire power of the individual units. We have found 3 large formations around the best. To balance this an infantry company with have 3 full platoons with most options taken. While the 3rd platoon may not be at full strength but options that provide support is taken. As a platoon gets close to breaking it falls back and takes up a support role and is replaced by a unit that is not as close to breaking.
The other thing we do a bit differently is that we study the doctrine of the day for our armies. Most players argue they don't want to do that because it would make them predictable. In reality it shows you how to use your whole army in a much better way. We also say if you don't like making knots and camping then don't join the boys scouts.

if team yankee were not completely based on red scare propaganda then soviet units would wipe the floor with nato

    • @jamesevans886

@@kmriifps All to true. Most of Team Yankee is based on the book Team Yankee that was written by a US intelligence officer and our analysis was out by a fair bit. Also you had vehicles that was entering trails and the author assumed they would be developed such as the embarrassing failure of the Sergeant York anti aircraft vehicle. I believe if we engaged Russia in the mid 80s the Russians had the much greater numbers plus more technically advanced tanks in the form of the T-64 and T-80. But NATO had more nuclear weapons and both sides had hands on big red buttons and NATO would not have hesitated to use them. The Fulda gap has 2 choke points the Soviets had to squeeze through and its here where the mushrooms would have grown. It's not just about the tanks. Now back to the game. I'm a huge fan of studying the doctrines of the armies I play and using the doctrine. As a Soviet player I don't feel like am lacking anything and bonus is my stuff is much cheaper. The biggest mistake Soviet players make is to use very large tank units like 7 to 10 tanks that can't make effective use of terrain. Next according to doctrine 1 third of your tanks should have the ATGM option taken. These tanks should sit back and create big hole in the NATO players front line. Finally most players on line that I've seen are a bit too timid. I really don't care how many points the other guy gets from destroying my units. Taking the objective/s is all that matters. The Soviet doctrine is very big on force ratios and Soviet players don't take enough infantry and their supporting assets. Similarly players don't use enough smoke or smoke barrages.
I think the point you raise is a valid point.

How do you get 13 T-55's? You can get 10 max, unless he brings the last 3 in an infantry company or a T-72 company

The T-72 formations can have one unit of 3 as T-55 .
