Question...If I downgrade my CSR how can I be sure to keep the chase points? Will they disappear? What is the strategy? Transfer them to a Freedom Unlimited or Ink?
Downgrading to a Freedom Flex or Unlimited keeps the points and account alive. It's not the same as canceling.
@@AskSebby Any recommendations if I already have both of those? Slate?
🍔 this elevated offer coming through as soon as I’m finished gardening to get under 5/24. Love when a plan comes together.
I got the 80k offer last year for the CSP, so unfortunately I'm not eligible. 🍔 Great to hear the bonus is back up for those that can get it through.
I’m considering CSP. How long do the in-branch offers usually last. Do I have to apply immediately? Or can I wait a month?
Please make a video on point redemption for expert mode. I have all these points but don’t know how to strategically use them for travel!
Oy. I’m stuck. Have tons of points. It’s been a challenge to get 2cpp.
When does elevated offer end?
Is getting the CSR over CSP ever worth it if you're already running the V1X?
1. CSP over CSR as it’s the same 75k SUB
2. Only 455 days until I’m under 5/24 lol, I may wait it out
How long do these promos usually last? Couple months?
🍔. Love my CSR. During May you can get 1.5 per point at the Chase Apple Store. Think I might finally get some AirPods Pro Gen 2. 16,600 points. I’m not typically a merchandise guy, but this seems like a good value. Love the channel.
🍔 definitely on the fence with this one. We have accrued a lot of chase points and are trying to book a trip for 3+ lap infant to Japan this fall or next spring. Finding award availability of good value is proving difficult. A portal booking with 1.5¢ per point is almost tempting. Any pointers on finding good award value when you need 3 seats?
This is the exact reason why I downgraded my CSR to CSP and moved over to C1VX/Citi TY (although I'm about to go through the AMEX Business class cards due to some upcoming projects with my business). The redemptions for Asia with Chase aren't brilliant. Everyone talks about the Virgin Atlantic redemption for ANA but that availability is almost non-existent. You really need to look about 1 year out, but even with that much time in advance Tokyo (in particular) is experiencing historical tourism numbers right now, which makes partner award space availability from ANA illogical.
Your best bet would most likely be trying to find ANA space on United or Air Canada, confirming that space then transferring since the transfer is basically instant.
You could also look into award space for JAL on any Avios based airline. British Airways or Iberia immediately comes to mind. I find that JAL typically has more award space available on partner airlines than ANA. The redemption values aren't terrible, either.
Your last option would be to look into Flying Blue with Air France and KLM. They're SkyTeam, so you'd be most likely traveling with Korean Air (layover in ICN) or direct with Delta. It may be a little difficult to find good value transferability unless you schedule your flight from west coast US. I typically found that basically starting in Chicago or Houston geographically and going to east coast that Flying Blue will tend to pull you to Paris or AMS then fly you out to JPN for a lot more points. It's not always, but I found it tends to happen.
So, I'd check Iberia or British Airways first, then United and Air Canada, then Flying Blue last.
Sapphire lounge in Boston had high quality food initially but took a dive in taste lately. Amex centurion lounge in Atlanta has real restaurant quality food and desserts now, not sure how long they keep maintain the quality standard.
Sebby please make videos on how to do expert mode and videos on specific partners!!!
There’s a Chase Sapphire lounge in Austin. Most of the seating is outside (gulp). All beverages are canned (wine, beer, etc.). Food is dispensed from vending machines (surprisingly, fresh tasting … don’t recall any burgers). As of last visit, opened at 10am, closed 7pm. So, meh.
I’m still in time out I’m not sure
How much longer so I’m going to garden for 2YRs to be sure
But when time come chase Reserve for the lounge access like the United club lounge in my hometown Airport. ORD
🍔 Great video Sebby, thanks for the update!
is there an increased in branch offer for the CSR? (like tranche #2 for the CSP) 🍔
Nope, exactly the same.
🍔Thanks. If you haven't maybe a vid on using the portal for Southwest and Marriott - or expert mode for both of those.
Still mailing 80k @4k spend for preferred
🍔 I have the CSR, plan to keep it. Oy, not sure of expiry date (there was a fraudulent charge, new CC# issued, blah, blah, blah).
🍔24 months until my next Sapphire Bonus. I was at the Austin Sapphire Terrace recently. Outside deck was closed due to inclement weather, but food available from the Farmer’s Fridge Kiosk. No lie, I shamelessly got a total of 11 items for the family over the course of waiting through our delays. It was pretty good for airport food. Rack rate would’ve been >$100. It was nice to get quality fresh veggies in the airport.
Each lounge should have a grab n go section. Would solve a lot of congestion for people who want a quick drink and some light snacks.
🍔 I've been waiting for this for a while, but I just got the Ink Preferred about a week ago, so I'll be working on that SUB and use that in my setup for now. I'm sitting at 3/24 for now, so weighing options and trying to budget.
Hopefully, the elevated offers will stick around.
Just got the CSP two weeks ago. They probably won’t match the elevated offers if I call in but that’s okay 😢. I, too, am a burger connoisseur! 🍔
Send a secured message to see if they'll match it.
🍔 Went in-branch to get the CSP, but now 5/24 until 2/25. I probably could have gotten the CIU instead, but have been waiting on this SUB for a while, and maybe the 90K for the Inks will come back during the next tax season. Will be looking for another biz card, maybe the Wyndham Business Earner, for the annual Vegas visit in the fall.
I feel credit cards have gone down in providing value to customers
🍔 Hey Sebby I am currently at 5/24 but I have heard that if the Preferred is a recommended card for me in my chase account, which it is, my application will still go through even if I am at 5/24. (My last card was a Kohl’s card and I’ll be under 5/24 in August)
🍔 Went in branch on Monday and signed up for the CSP since i heard the PP is going away for the CSR. Not sure the CSR is worth it since PP is expected to end in July this year. Thoughts?
PP is here to stay, it's just has no restaurant option. PP is trash in US unless you live in those big city with Sapphire lounge
Another video on the rules! I would love details about downgrading and cancelling to manage card count and benefits.
I am curious about why anyone would keep the CSP (or CSR). It's not an earner I would ever put much spend on, and I can downgrade it to a second flex to get more points. Then after stockpiling some, I am ready for the CSP again to unlock transfer partners.
I am I the weird one in this?
I keep mine for the primary auto CDW, travel insurance & superior price protection. Plus pts boost in portal or access to transfer partners
@@docsays Exactly….that 50% boost is a life saver when booking boutique/specialty hotels. Also, it can sometimes beat transferring to partners. Having that floor value is a major plus!
🍔 Hopefully will try to pick up the CSP if I can hit the SUB after finishing the SUB for my Venture X
🍔 Got approved for the CSP in branch 85k offer yesterday immediately after dropping under 5/24. As soon as I hit the MSR, I’m eying the Thompson in Houston!
🍔 I am closing in on my date 6/15 - so I will hopefully work the downgrade for me, and then my wife in July...Questions I have is what to do with the points so that I don't lose them...Also, is there a strategic timing so that you will not be charged a fee. For example, my $550 fee doesn't hit until my July statement, but the card issue date is early in June...So, is it wise to downgrade the care before the June date?
🍔 "It's like walking by a restaurant thinking the food is good because the like outside it is long." - ask sebby 2018
The CSP and CSR aren't worth it anymore because the reduction in its benefits isn't worth what it used to be. Remember when people would make a costume of the CSR for approval? No more, because the card isn't the same as what it was. People who apply for it now see the like and think the food is good, when the portions of the card's "meal" have been entirely shrinkflated.
I called Chase and did the downgrade on my CSP. They told me to wait 30 days before applying to refresh the credit score. Has anyone else heard that or is the 5 business days still okay?
When you resub, do you have to open a new account, or can you apply with the same account you had downgraded?
@@jpking0 it's a new account, it's like applying for another card
🍔🍔I have a CSP over 48 months and I am thinking of downgrading and get a new CSP. If I downgrade or cancel my CSP, what happens to my CSP points?
If you downgrade, it's the same account so the points stay alive. If you cancel, be sure you have an existing UR earning card to keep the points alive.
@@AskSebby Thank you
🍔 I applied last week in a branch and activated my card on Monday...since my account says the new account bonus is 60K, I'm guessing I have the worst luck ever and am completely screwed for this heightened offer?
Send a secured message to see if they'll match it.
🍔Hey Sebby I'm leaning toward the Sapphire Preferred. My issue is that I have a Sapphire card (no fee) but it's 30+ years old. So I'll have to downgrade. It's my oldest card so I don't want to cancel it.
Downgrading to a Freedom Flex or Unlimited keeps the points and account alive. It's different from cancelling.
3/24 CSP + Ritz for me
Great video Sebby. You’re the first credit card TH-camr I’ve seen mention this bonus. Is the additional in branch bonus on the CSR also, or just the CSP.
CSR is 75k for both.
I’m so bummed that I’m going to miss out on the bonus. I’m in timeout for a year 😢 🍔
🍔 Can you make a video showing the best setups with airline co-branded cards? (e.g. United Cards with Chase or Delta Cards with Amex)
There's some videos on the business channel. Co-branded cards are good for airline status. th-cam.com/channels/lTbTA4Ywnl5AIa8q6B252g.html
Was that a Rolex yacht master 2 on your wrist?
No
Cue every CC youtuber doing this same exact video that no one needed😅 a short or community post would have sufficed lol
🍔 I applied to CSP through referral yesterday but still haven't gotten approval. Can I still get to the branch to get this offer?
Are you able to apply for the CSP or CSR of you're an authorized user on a CSP?
Dude is 1K from 300K subscribers !! (hamburger emoji)
Is it possible request Sapphire for no US citizens?
Need a tax id
But Alaska doesn’t have an actual chase branch, is there a way to apply for the additional bonus?
You can apply online now, just Google Chase Sapphire Preferred 😊
I opened a Bilt Mastercard on April 7 and Chase Freedom Unlimited on April 11. Am I shit out of luck on this promo because of the 2/30 rule? Or should I talk to a Chase agent after May 7 or May 11?
I’d wait at least 30 days since you got the Chase Freedom unlimited. Not like the offer is going away anytime soon
🍔
I need to figure out when I'm eligible for another bonus. I'm still trying to understand the time frame. I think I got mine back in 2020 or 2021
How my points will work if I downgrade my csr and get a new csr for bonous
Burger. Solid CSP holder. I’ve been on the fence about an upgrade to CSR. Still trying to decide.
🍔 OK I’m getting the Chase FI reserve! I have been waiting for an elevated offer. I want to enjoy the sapphire lounge in Boston!
Have fun!
🍔can I apply for both the same day or promo period if I’m within the 5-25 rule ?! Thank you 🙏🏼
Chase only allows one Sapphire card per person.
How long would the 85k last? A month?
Cheers
If I signed up for the CSP last month, but didn’t hit the welcome bonus yet, can I ask Chase to improve my welcome offer now?
Third! (Also, no Chase branches near me. Sad face.)
Debating between CSP and Amex Green 🍔
I made the mistake of being over 5/24 right now until September, so hopefully this elevated offer comes back later this year. I still need to get the Sapphire Preferred to round out my setup
Great video.Thank you for all the information please let me know is this offer valid for EU / GERMANY. Thank you so much.🙏🏾🌹
Any idea of referring someone will get them the 75k offer? So far using a referral link only gets 60k to pop up
Gardening till June 1. This may be just in Time! 🍔
Do you think Capital One will increase their welcome bonus for their Venture X card from 75k to compete?
I literally just signed up 3 days ago. Wonder if I can call and get that extra bonus
Send a secured message to see if they'll match it.
@@AskSebby FYI - I sent a secured message and I just received a letter in the mail stating that I was eligible for the 75k bonus! Thanks Sebby.
Just got approved with my first csp with 15k credit limit! I’ve been waiting for them to have this elevated bonus, glad I saw someone commented about the upcoming bonus. It is not the best card for all purchases but 75k ain’t that bad for $95 annual fee. I just don’t like how we have to have a preferred card just to use our freedom points for travel. Other than that csp is a good to hold even without using it after getting the signup bonus.
🍔 offer is available online now!
Im currently gardending, im at 5/24 but in the near future i want the Southwest Priorirty card either when it has a historic high point bonus, or the companion pass thats comes with it off the bat as the bonus. Im going to patiently wait until then.
I just applied for this card at 60k bonus. Anything I can do?
Send them a secured message to see if they'll match it.
do you think I might be able to go into a branch and get the 85K offer matched?
🍔 I am technically eligable and at 3/24 but I did open a Chase card relatively recently and I need to lower my credit limit. I haven't been to any of the Sapphire Lounges yet. I tried for the (unofficial) Ethiad/Chase lounge at Dulles but was full.
Apply and if rejected. Call the reconsideration line. They shuffled my credit limits around to make space for the new card.
🍔 Really sad about the CSR losing PP restaurants but I think I'll still keep it. Best travel protection in the game 🍔
🍔 still in time out😢
🍔 I would like to see the rules video and maybe some expert point redemption techniques, including some 2P strategies. Thanks!
🍔 Chase doesn't have the Amex-style family issues, do they? If you're already a CSR is there an issue applying for CSP? (P2 downgraded to one, I still have CSR.)
4:59 Chase Rules section
🍔🍟🥤🍦 Waiting 4 more months for 5/24😢
Still a year away before I would be eligible again for the CSP, got in on the 100K offer in 2021.
Hope the in branch 85,000K offer is still up by late June.
Damn it. I just got the reserve back in February. Would have waited if I had known!
I know that when I got my wife her CSR I talked to an agent when the new bonus came out and said, "Hey, is there any way that you can bump me up?" - Surprisingly she did...It is always worth a try...
@@rodphillips9433 hey, that’s an excellent suggestion. Thanks Rod! I’ll give it a go. Glad it worked out for you guys!
🍔 About 2.3 years to go before I’m eligible for another intro bonus on a Sapphire card.
🍔 can you make a video about how soon you should redeem UR and MR points depending on when you earn them. sitting on about 100k points and haven’t been able to redeem any yet and worried if they’re losing value over time.
That was a sad burger 🍔
Agree
🍔 I lucked out that I downgraded my CSP to a Freedom Flex last week so I’m ready! I live 15 minutes away from the closest Chase branch too! Moving for another CSP. I’m waiting to see if opening the PHL Sapphire Lounge helps the crowds at the Centurion Lounge. Or if the Sapphire lounge has a more central location. Then I might product change next year.
🍔 Does having a Sapphire preffered AU card count as having a current Sapphire card? Should get rid of it and apply five days later?
Good you mentioned the higher 85k in branch offer. The CSP is THE anchor Chase card and great for newbies to get and keep for the long term imho. I need to get wife to cancel it and reapply because it's been 51 months. Just crossed burning half a million miles/points year to date. We are going back to Bangkok BKK for $16.20 all in...and, amazingly, no Chase Ultimate Rewards were used for the airfare. Oh wait, burned 105k Chase points for 21 nights at the Hyatt Place Bangkok Sukhumvit...which is basically about 1.3 Chase Ink cards lol.
🍔. I’m going for the CSP
🍔 perfect time for us as our CSR annual fee just hit so we’re looking to use the travel credit this month and downgrade (will try for a retention offer first), while I’ll get the CSP. We want to use my wife’s referral link but it doesn’t have the elevated offer yet.
Good idea on the 2nd tranche too. We just cancelled my wife’s old Southwest card today, and getting a new one with a SUB instead of the in-branch offer and use that $2K additional spend for Southwest might be appealing. We’ll see!
Got the Sapphire preferred a month and a half ago😭
Try contacting them and asking if they will honor the new bonus? I did it a year and a half ago, and they gave it to me - It just depends on who you get on the other end of the phone...
🍔excellent video full of valuable information
...as usual
🍔 I’m not in time out, I’m serving a 48 month sentence in the CSP penitentiary… 😭😭😭 In my defense I had a hard lesson to learn as a first time credit user. Your channel as well as a few others have been a great help getting back on track though.
Wanna get csp soonish because I’ve been saving my last 5/24 slot for it, but I’m not sure I can hit those spending requirements that easily so I’ll need to time it when a big purchase is coming.
You should compare your favorite partners and why. I feel that not all are created equal.
I’ve had the CSR for more than four years now. This offer might just be the reason for me to get the CSP.
🍔 In the past, I would usually say that I would go for the CSP bc of the higher offer, but in theory, I think my travel this year fits the CSR more, but I would have to run the numbers through the calculator to be sure. I think I’m not eligible for the bonus because I’m at 12/24 😅 and also bc I haven’t finished the 48 month cooldown period from my last CSP bonus.
🍔
🍔 🍔 🍔
the way I got the card 3 days ago and I’m just hearing this 😭
You can call them and ask them to match the SUB
Do you think the CSP offer will come to referrals? 🍔
Or if you have a player 2, get referred and you have the 85k offer without having to step into a bank! Huge win and finally under 5/24.
Have you confirmed this works for the 85K offer when referring?
@@Xyz99899 Referral bonus is currently 10k for referrer and new 75k offer is showing on referral links.
2 referrals sent to me, and neither had elevated offers
@@randomjoker21 Same I just tried with player 2 and the referral was only 60K points. Might try in a month
@@randomjoker21 If you have a P2 they will receive referral points of 10k and then will get 75k bonus. Equaling elevated bonus without going into a branch.
Sebby we’re in houston I will fly you out pay for your hotel and we can all go to roadhouse on me I need you on my podcast 🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔
🍔
Riddle me this:
If a worst burger title was to be given, which would it be? The UA burger, or The Chase Sapphire at JFK burger?
Haven't tried the UA burger yet. The Chase JFK burger reminded me of an elementary school cafeteria.
@@AskSebby A good ketchup solves the school cafeteria burger. Reason being because with enough of it you can't actually taste the patty. That UA burger, though.
@@AskSebby It's nice to have an expectation if I ever run into that lounge and feel like food challenging myself with the burger.
I called Chase, they will give me the extra 15k points because I received the CSP within 30 days of the increase offer
Thanks for the data point!
