💎💎 Don’t see outsized value in the CSR over the CSP other than lounge access. For the annual fee difference you’re better off getting a CSP and Venture X.
One thing I saw was that you weren't signed in for the Hyatt example. I found that just making the account caused a 299 a night stay get reduced to 179 a night. And I had just made the account and not linked to anything. So no status benefits. Just something to keep in mind, other than that, always love to hear about credit card benefits! 💎
One CapitalOne VX and CSP in 2P mode is the best way to maximize the benefits and SUBs. Hyatt is by far the best redemption for CSP. VentureX on the other hand could be a dedicated airline card.💎
Ritz + CSP is better than a CSR for the same $550 AF in my opinion, the 85k certificate and free AU with unlimited Priority pass for you and AU makes both a kepper card for me :)
💎 My P2 just downgraded their CSR to a CSP, but I'm sticking with the CSR because I feel like I use the lounges enough per year (I live almost smack dab in the middle of OAK/SJC/SFO and the latter two have lounges I can access, plus eats at SFO) to justify it. That plus making it a conduit for my CFU points means that I'm starting to get the hang of Expert Mode. Lastly, Bonvoy hotels aside, it's my primary hotel card for the 3x multiplier, and I have used CURxpedia for booking when the 10x multiplier offsets the savings I'd get booking through other means (it HAS happened). One day I will be rich enough to try the Chase dining experiences. Today is not that day. Tomorrow will not be that day either. But one day.
I plan to downgrade at the end of the year and add myself as an AU to my husband's card so I can get my own PP card. Then I plan to apply to the CSP so I can get the bonus.
I got the CSR in 2016-17 and I think it was after one of the first Credit Card videos of yours I watched "How to maximize the Chase Sapphire Reserve travel benefits." You and John Oliver have both gotten better looking on camera. The CSR has been in my wallet ever since, next to an AMEX Platinum. Now that Chase is opening a lounge in PHL (Large I hear) I am thrilled. 💎
💎 My home airport is LAX so the lounge is not much of a benefit. The multipliers is never really a focus for our family since our business can fortunately cover trips with points. CSR main point for us is how points redemption is worth 50% more not 25%. There are times, not just redeeming economy flights, I needed to book local hotels where Hyatt/Hilton/Marriott does not operate. When I add all of the savings, 25% vs 50% extra, it really adds up especially when we travel, we travel as a family of 4.
💎Solid rundown Sebastian. Got my CSP last fall. Plan on waiting 47 more months, then running the churn protocol to get the CSR. In the near term, CSP suits my needs very well.
💎 Sebby, It may have been one of your minor points, but the process for combining Chase Freedom Flex points with CSP Ultimate Rewards points was helpful. Thanks again for all the information!
💎 Sebastian, you forgot to mention Chase only lets you have one at a time. I have the CSP & submitted an app for the CSR. I got denied, so I called. Chase customer support told me you can only have 1 or the other. 😢
💎 I’ll be under 5/24 in May, and when I get there, I’m applying for the CSP (hopefully with an elevated offer). It’ll also be the one I’d keep long-term since I’m just getting started on team travel. I’m going all-in on UR points with the Chase Trifecta, and I’ll be redeeming for mostly Hyatt stays because of the value you get with the points.
CSP for the trifecta for me. Recently re-applied and have a dedicated 3% restaurant anytime card + $50 credit makes it a fairly good keeper card to always be able to use Chase points and it's TP's.
💎 I always wonder what's the best method to book cheap flights in economy internationally, whether its better to go for travel partners or directly through chase.
I am in my second year of the reserve, I got delayed for weather overnight in Charlotte and used the chase portal to book a room. It was super easy and a life saver, I used points to pay for the room. Although I have to admit I totally forgot to call about insurance for the delay, I am wondering if it’s too late?
After having the preferred for nearly a year I’m likely going to try and upgrade my card to the reserve. I use Chase travel a lot and having that %50 bonus would be useful. 9:45 funny you mention that because that is exactly what I did 😂 booked 2 nights at the park Hyatt for next January.
💎 great video! It makes me wonder… Would you be interested in doing a CSP + Ritz Carlton combo vs CSR + Bonvoy Bold? I feel like the Ritz can do a lot of the same as the CSR why not go for Ritz for $100 cheaper?
💎 I like the CSR for simplicity of using the $300 credit, transfer partners, PP including restaurants and insurance protection. I hope they keep expanding their Sapphire lounge network to more airports.
At least for me the CSR makes sense since I can combine it with my Ink and Freedom card. I travel minimum twice a year but not that often either. The reason I find value in this is cause my main trip during the year is always a very far destination mostly Africa so I use the perks heavily
Business expenses go on the freedom unlimited and then I transfer points to CSR. I usually fly economy class so I just use the 50% bonus on the portal. It works quite well for me. Plus I have status with Alaska Airlines so I get upgraded often.
💎 Finished my first Ink Intro and getting Flex in the mail this week. If the best earning card from Chase is Flex, and best intro bonus's are ink, then I think my plan will be to get CSP, transfer for a trip, enjoy it for 1 year, then downgrade to a second flex until I have enough points and can get another sapphire intro bonus.
💎Sebby, after just grabbing a meal at a priority pass resturant and then heading to the sapphire lounge to enjoy the amenities before my flight. I say the CSR is without a doubt worth it if you travel enough. For me I plan to keep it long-term. Have you used the Relais & Chateux benefit yet? I forgot we still had it as a benefit. 🤔Do you think you could possibly do a video or yt short on this benefit?
There is a Chase Sapphire lounge at Austin. Most of it is outside, yes, outside. Only open from 10am to 7pm, as of last visit. Free food came from vending machines, surprisingly fresh tho. Beverages were all canned, beer, wine, cocktail, soda, etc. 💎
Is the downgrade path for CSR still an option to later reapply to earn sign-up bonus? I just got off call with rep they stated I have two options: apply for Chase Sapphire no annual fee card OR Chase Freedom Flex Mastercard. Because I already have the Chase Freedom Unlimited, they stated I can no longer downgrade to that. Thus, seems my only option is Chase Free Flex Mastercard but that would mean I leave visa and would get a new number. Does this screw up the downgrade option route for me to re-sign up for bonus?
💎 currently have the CSP with Freedoms and have been debating whether to product change to the CSR but can’t really justify the AF when the competitor’s have better perks and the 3x travel isn’t enough of a increase from the CSP for me, especially since I only use the portal once in awhile.
💎 my four years with CSP are up this month so going to downgrade and resign up for it with the intro bonus. End goal was to get the CSR but going to look into having both the Venture X and CSP now!
And to think, not 6 hours ago i just called Chase to upgrade the CSP to CSR. Beginning of career engineer here who travels a lot for work. Most of my travel is booked for me on my cards, so I cant use the portal for that type of work travel. 💎
💎 The bonus .25 cents for redemption alone makes CSR better for me. We redeemed 400k miles for $6k in flights, so immediate $1000 free. With effective annual fee of $250, that pays for 4 years of CSR. Then we also get lounges and free pre-check.
We pair the CSP Trifecta with the US Bank Altitude Reserve. Better for people who only fly 1-2 times a year and same benefits. Not to mention the insane amount of points you can earn on the AR. Travel credit is Better than CSR because you also earn points on the $325.
💎!! First thank you for always putting out great content. I am a CSP holder. My wife downgraded last year from CSR to unlimited and is now eligible for the CSP welcome bonus! I am looking into the Bonvoy Boundless as I am pretty faithful to Marriott. Can you make a video that attempts to comine a chase sapphire card with a hotel or airline rewards card (preferably Boundless) and how best to do it? Is it even worth it to do so? Thanks Sebby!
I (with my wife as an authorized user) currently have the Sapphire Reserve and BonVoy Boundless. We like to travel and always stay at a Marriott. We also use our UR points on transfer partners primarily. I am thinking of downgrading the Reserve to the Preferred and upgrading the Boundless to the Ritz-Carlton. Any thoughts on that strategy? Thanks!
Do you think it would be a good combination to have the chase sapphire preferred and the United ClubSM Infinite Card ? I fly united pretty much 100% of the time
I've just reached 1 year and 6 months on my CSP. I've redeemed the $50 hotel credit annually and got more than my moneys worth from the doordash special. I have 190,000 points saved up, only redeeming roughly 20,000 since I've opened it. My home airport, Harry Reid in Las Vegas, announced a new Sapphire Lounge so my value for upgrading to the CSR has sky rocketed. I'll be redeeming my points, worth roughly 300,000, in the next year or so of traveling, all while being able to bring a friend or two into the Sapphire Lounge with me! 💎
I feel like you should mention the trip protection company chase outsources to is very very bad. Has a 1 star on BBB. They personally have been a nightmare to work with for purchase protection, baggage delay, and trip delay.
Thanks for a great content. Would you know how long you need to wait until I re-apply for CSP to get 60k bonus points after cancelling CSP I currently hold?
Chase is good for Hyatt or hotel redemptions but for me I don’t really care too much about the hotel (Airbnb or 3 star hotels are sufficient) rather I like to redeem it with business or first class flights.
unless Chase would do a major overhaul to the Reserve that would include credits that could make the effective annual fee $ or closer to it, I don't see ever having it over the Preferred. $95-$50 credit is a manageable $45 which is also likely covered by various offers throughout the year if I tracked it
They should bump it up for the Sapphire lounge with Preferred from one a year to 4-5 visits per year. It would potentially get more folks to upgrade their cards to get unlimited access
I have a question for people. I know that you can not get another bonus until 48 months later and that is based on when you get a bonus, what if you product changed from a csp to a csr and vise versa. Does this cause the 48 month to be pushed?
Is there a world where having a Venture X and a CSR makes sense? I don’t live by an airport with sapphire lounges, and don’t really care about priority pass eats, as the lounge already has food (albeit not as good lol). I do like the 1.5cpp redemption through the Chase portal as it’s good for domestic flights, and Hyatt can be a killer cpp value. Thoughts?
What’s up Seb! Are these two card’s welcome bonus like AMEX plat gold green family? Do I have to start from the bottom and go up? I got the CSR this year, so will I be ineligible for the CSP welcome bonus? 💎
I’m nearly at the 48 month mark for receiving a Sapphire bonus. If I downgrade, can my player 2 refer me the sapphire and get a referral bonus on top of my getting a new sign up bonus?
Is the National Executive car rental status for the life of the CSR card or good for a year? My status was down grated last month. I believe, AMEX gives you the status for the life of the card. I could be wrong.
Thanks for the videos, just found you and enjoying it a lot! I have the following… AMEX Biz - Plat, Gold, Biz Blue Plus AMEX Personal - Hilton(product changed from surpass to no fee), Delta Reserve (for BOGO first class) Chase Biz - Unlimited, Cash Chase Personal - sapphire preferred Capital 1 - Venture X I am going to cancel my business platinum and don’t really have any plans for what is next. also thinking about product changing my sapphire preferred to an OG freedom and adding a chase business preferred to use as a transfer option. Do you think that is a good idea or do you have a suggestions for a next card?
Wondering if you have multiple Priority Pass Cards, could you use your one time Sapphire Lounge visit per Priority Pass membership or they link it to one person. For example, I have the Amex Plat and Capital One Venture X priority pass so would I be able to visit the Sapphire lounge twice for a calendar year?
Hi Sebby, just want to tell one catch on sapphire Reserve Travel Insurance, I was joining a tour from Toronto to Spain last Nov, Air Canada Cancelled the flight and later on put us on a Flight 12 hours later, I claimed Travel delay and Chase denied my claim cause I went on a tour, not purchased the ticket with airline directly, so travel insurance do not cover my flight canx/delay. is that true ? this is kind of gray area if anyone know, can you please clarify for me? Thank you so much .
💎 I went for the CSR (again) since I was eligible for the sapphire sub. Whether or not I keep it depends...have to see how the Vegas lounge turns out 🤷 If I downgrade again after the year is up, probably transfer the points out first for a Euro trip in 2025
💎I currently hold the Amex Platinum, Gold and Hilton Aspire Card. Just got my CSR, waiting for it to come in the mail. With this combination, what do you think is the best way to maximize points for travel purposes (airline/hotels)? Let me know when you can. Love the content you putting out, keep it up 🙌🏼.
💎My trifecta is freedom unlimited CSP and Hyatt. 1.5 with freedom all the time is awesome. Then moving points to CSP. Then finish off at the world of Hyatt card. I get a lot of value. I work for the airlines so I’m just looking for rooms. That trifecta works for me…
You can get the a CSP/CSR sign up bonus once every 48 months. People get either the CSP/CSR and then downgrade to a no fee card after at least 1 year and then get another CSP/CSR 48 months after they received the previous bonus.
💎💎💎 This is the smartest setup regarding Chase: 1). Chase Sapphire PREFERRED ($95 AF) AND 2). Ritz-Carlton (PC from Boundless) ($450 AF) Result: $545 AFs, not $550 and unlimited lounge access, unlimited guess access, restaurant access, AND unlimited AUs’ benefits!💎💎💎

Excited for the Vegas lounge!
@@AskSebby definitely. Miss not having a second option like I did when SEATAC was my home airport
I'm considering this combo myself, what made you go with the CSR even though you have AMEX Plat?
chase cards areaway overhyped I feel. I have tons of Amex cards. the only stand out feature is Hyatt. I just got myself a WoH card
Priority pass is garbage now and the reserve is $100 over priced so the preferred is better.
I guess you could say you…prefer the CSP
Yeah… I’ve yet to take advantage of it, and not for lack of trying…
Sapphire reserve is removing the priority pass restaurant access benefit
I thought they discontinued the restaurant credits?
Yes, effective July 1, 2024.
Does anyone know if it’s possible to get a Sapphire Preferred Visa Infinite card by having a credit limit above 10k?
💎My trifecta is freedom unlimited CSP and Hyatt. 1.5 with freedom all the time is awesome. Then moving points to CSP. Then finish off at the world of Hyatt card. I get a lot of value. I work for the airlines so I’m just looking for rooms. That trifecta works for me…
A lot of missed opportunity with the flex's rotating multipliers -- it's the Bonnie to CFU's Clyde. Maybe you need a quadfecta 🎉
Testing.
💎 CSR 👍
Hey Sebby! Would I make Chase mad if I upgrade the CSP to CSR only for one big redemption snd then downgrade it back to CSP after one month?
Shouldn't matter if the CSP is more than 1 year old.
What’s the Sapphire clock?
You can get the a CSP/CSR sign up bonus once every 48 months. People get either the CSP/CSR and then downgrade to a no fee card after at least 1 year and then get another CSP/CSR 48 months after they received the previous bonus.
Oh. Of course. I’ve just never heard it called that. 😂 Thanks!
💎💎💎 This is the smartest setup regarding Chase:
1). Chase Sapphire PREFERRED ($95 AF)
AND
2). Ritz-Carlton (PC from Boundless) ($450 AF)
Result: $545 AFs, not $550 and unlimited lounge access, unlimited guess access, restaurant access, AND unlimited AUs’ benefits!💎💎💎
💯th!

Hi Sebby! Lucky enough to start my credit journey w Chase. I think I had a Chase Freedom when I discovered you on YT. I now have 3 more products, all Chase. C/S 764. Do you recommend a credit card out of Chase? If so what do you reccomend? Btw, I l'm happy with my CSP. 😊 💎💎
