Another awesome video! Rain never fails to do interesting things to our hats and I love the magic it worked on your Screencapped.
I remember wearing my Peters Bros raiders hat in Hawaii during some heavy rain and it made the felt softer and smoother. A happy accident indeed. The only hat of mine unphased by heavy rain was my Advintage ToD. I spent a week in Washington State getting rained on everyday. I was careful to dab the access water and air dry it but, despite its softness, absolutely zero effect on the shape.

That hat looks fantastic as is, really nice with it’s own character/story! After a trip to Washington State and Oregon my Last Crusade styled Akubra Fed 4 is doing much the same.
I've owned a number of Indiana Jones hats over the years and worked on dozens more. It never fails to amaze me how a little genuine weathering will shrink up the crown on different types of felt. I wore a Todd's in Central America for about 3 months and by the time I got back I had to turn it into a low crown Derby style because no amount of steaming and stretching could bring back the height. Beaver hats hold up the best of course but it's interesting to see that even yours tapered.
Probably explains why they needed a new batch for every movie.
Absolutely! Hate to think what may have happened if I took out one of my rabbit felt hats that day!

I ordered the Raiders Poet from HB before starting my service in the Peace Corps in Colombia and I have had 0 issues with the terrential downpour that I'm constantly facing working in the andean region. Having grown up in Texas hats like the poet are on the cheaper end so I wasn't hesitant to take this out during my adventures in South America. My region is very high in elevation and when the clouds part the sun hits in full force again zero problems. Those HB poets may be in show room but after everything I've faced down here I can say with confidence that your next adventure (or rainy con) should be with your HB poet. If they can survive South America I promise you they can survive California. Fortune and Glory

Unpopular opinion on the raiders bash. The photo of production about to begin on the Bantu Wind shows Harrison wearing the fedora without a tight pinch. It’s looser like how yours is here. I think Harrison put the tight pinch in himself when he was trying to make the oversized fit work since some of the costuming was already fitted for Tom Selleck.
As I work with my own Raiders hat I find that I also think the upwards taper comes from the hat being in wet or humid conditions and left upside down to dry or prevent brim warping. The more the hat is used by myself the more like you said looks more screen accurate to certain scenes only because you’re allowing entropy to do its thing.
You’re one of the only I’ve seen actually have these hot takes officially and I support it because I agree 100%
I just like what I like! Thanks for chiming in with your theory - it is also one I agree with 100%. I think TOD is the first time the clothes were ever fitted specifically for Ford and that's why he looks so good in them
@@MickeyLeeBukowski exactly and for me seeing how the bash on top of the raiders hat is almost a j shape because Harrison was slowly turning the pinch so that the hat would secure to his head a little better. Again it’s speculation and maybe controversial to the really big stitch counters.
My beaver screencapped really smells when it gets rained on. Luckily when it dries out its fine. Did your's have a bad smell?
No it's been fine in that regard! But I gave it plenty of time to air out too, so maybe that helped
Indy's hat is meant to get wet and dirty.
Depends on the scene you're going for, but one of my pet peeves is seeing folks with perfectly clean Streets of Cairo fedoras!
it build character i agree 120% left the hat like that but i do miss you wearing the full completed outfit in the videos sense 10mins long you could wear it in all the videos dont have to wear it all day long but just for the videos.
the temple of doom leather jacket and all its just 10mins per video would give videos more character too.
i maybe asexual but i can still tell if someone looks good in something and you look aswome in it especially with hair style like that i do one day wanna see how you look like in it but with a full grown beard.
dont take it wrong way but in my 31 years on this world i have watch allot streams and meet allot people in life man and women but i never saw someone with the eyes colour you have, you have the most beautiful eyes i ever seen a person have.
