MGS2 came out in 2001, but the Bluepoint remaster came out in 2012. The Master Collection is essentially a port of those Bluepoint remasters, therefore it says 2012 on the title screen. Good job choosing Tanker-plant.
Man the change in graphics from PlayStation to PlayStation 2 is insane, but the improvements in gameplays made this so replayable. Really looking forward to the playthrough.
I think I've said this before but this is like a cable TV show where I have to wait a whole week to see the next episode and I can't stand it!!!! 😭😭😭 The Internet and streaming was supposed to put an end to all things "cable TV format"! All jokes aside, the simple fact that you are playing through my favorite series ever, that you are one of the many people now discovering the series, makes me so incredibly joyous and I will relish the slow burn it takes for you to finally complete the series. P.s. No matter what, don't skip MGS4.
I remember when this game came out, it was one of the PS2 system sellers. I bought it when I got my PS2, one of the first games I bought. Seeing Snake in those upscale 3D graphics is still pretty impressive even now. Enjoy because if you thought the first game was a mind f**k, oh, Mandy you are in for some, subversion of expectations
I like how in this one snake's life bar is pretty long from the start, about as long it was at the end of mgs1. It's like even his health bar has continuity.
So this game is definitely a huge shift from the first game in terms of gameplay, in that you get way more freedom than you might think is possible in terms of options for solutions to a given problem. The first game steers you to think outside the box. This game builds on that concept and allows you to act on said thinking with more options; tranq rounds to the head, sticking people up at gunpoint, dragging bodies away (into lockers for example), or even shooting out radios if you find a suppressor for your lethal pistol. The first game's story was phenomenal, but this game's story is flat frickin WILD. Looking forward to what you discover in this masterpiece. Also can we all just take a moment to appreciate how well this game has aged over the last 22 years? Also one last thing; remember the Deep family's fish! Haha.
Hi, Mandy. I'm here to say congratulations on both playing and completing the first MGS 1998 game! As a 90's kid, I have never played the first MGS game but later on in the early 2000s I did get to play Son's of Liberty game the the prequel game Snake Eater. I am truly excited for to playing MGS it's one of my many favorite game franchises ever. I hope that you're enjoying yourself while playing these game's; I personally understand where you're coming from when it comes to Stealth game's. My quick advice is to go slowly and stay silent as possible. Use you're best judgment.
Oh yeah this is my favorite one. I got mad skills in this one. Using the box hiding under tables, taking pictures and taking bad guys. Hope you're enjoying the graphics and this fantastic game. . . . Btw you look absolutely stunning "Mandy♡💫
I really love your playthroughs, you are really chill and soothing, I've seen my fair share of playthroughs of this game and some people don't give their 100% in MGS games because they can be pretty slow due to the overwhelming amount of cutscenes but I see that you give the games the deserved respect. And I really like your look in this episode!
Hi Mandy, I am new to your channel. I am enjoying your MGS play through. I don't know if you have been told already, but if you find yourself in a firefight, it is best to run away and hide, such as in a locker, or a crawlspace until the alert has ended. But be careful in case someone is following you
Yeah the controls take a bit to get used to in this one but you’ll get the hang of it! The most important tip i wish i knew starting out was auto aim by holding/pressing L1 in 1st person aiming. It’ll aim center mass, but you can move your L analog stick to line the red dot up for a headshot. You can also hold up enemies by running up from behind and aiming your gun at arm distance to “Freeze” them.
You should set it for easy mode but am glad you figure out how to play 1st view. First view aim the enemies head and you can also hold and drag them and most times you will get items. You can also toss your enemies out to the sea when on the cargo ship and put them in the locker and you can hit the locker even though it can't open. Choked hold from behind after you point the gun behind them. I am very pleased you are play MGS 2.
Omg yessss I’ve been waiting for this one! ^v^ This one is my favorite (they’re all amazing, though, I’m gonna be here for the whole ride🐍 this series is one of a kind)
This is one of the few games that took advantage of the ps2 controller's pressure sensitive buttons. I don't think the remasters support it but originally you could do things like throwing a grenade farther or switch from aiming to not aiming by how hard you press.
Started the game with Otacon and Stealth Suit? RIP Meryl o7 Tap Auto Aim button to snap on target, hold Auto Aim Button to lock on to moving targets. Manual Aiming is not advised for moving targets.
@@flameflyer42 You and the OP are being creeps. Act like she's in front of you and you're talking to her, because she's going to read this. And no one appreciates being objectified. Show some respect and class, both of you.
This was actually my first MGS game, I was so confused why everyone was so mad at Raiden lol. Honestly, it was kind of a blessing because it really let me enjoy the game more. MGS2 has an amazing story once it comes together, and it really is wild how correctly it predicted the path of our future.
It predicted zero dude. When the game came out it was already tested for fingerprint sensors for personal guns and dismissed, never again. Private militias are a thing for forever too. So nothing new. Youre just an alt right conspiracy theorists who votes trump
the key is to aim for the head in first person. that garantees that they fall asleep immediately.
shooting the head is pretty much always the key in any shooting game...

I can’t wait!!
Excellent work Mandy, age hasn't slowed you down one bit 👏

MGS just gets better and better

Aim for the head. It knocks them out instantly. The body takes time for the tranquilizer to take effect.
I'm locked in! 😤 Ready to go!!
Makes me incredibly happy to see you enjoying the series!! Can't wait to see more of your playthroughs
I called it!! Well Mandy you might want to pack your bags and buckle up cause this is going to be a trip.
"But I don't even have a real gun!" - So you sounded disappointed you couldn't shoot the pregnant lady with a real gun lol
Not like filling her full of tranqs is much better tbh

MGS isn't really my flavor, but just showing support by hopping in from the FF7 gameplay to say...
Ribbit

Good job against "Olga I knew you would figure it out, I came back to finish this episode. I didn't get a chance to finish it,but now I'am 👏

"Look at these cut-scenes", oh, my sweet summer child
Crazy how when this game was released it was hated (for reasons) but now it’s a masterpiece! Oh Kojima 😂
The second PS2 game that I played. First, of course, was FFX. Lol. Graphics imploded my then developing gamer brain! GLHF!
So glad you're playing this! It's going to be a wild ride for sure
Whoa! What?! LFG!!!
@4:50 "we finally have a stealth suit". Um, about that, 😅
I'm almost nervous just watching her play this, but what I can't wait is when she gets further in the story
This is so awesome, lets go!
The battle with "Olga. The fp view would've easier from cover. 👍

They do. I just beat this on the PS3 and they worked.
@MasamuneChad that's awesome! But what about new consoles? I heard they took that functionality away.
You can enable 4K resolution in the menu before starting this game and the next one.
So happy to see you play this! Thank you !
check the manual before starting the game for controls and basic game mechanics. first person aiming is integral in this game.
Hi, greetings from Brazil. Remember to use 1st-person view. It's easier to aim enemies and to take a look around.
So glad you decided to continue the series, hope comments can keep from spoiling you.
Started the game with Otacon and Stealth Suit? RIP Meryl o7

12:34 after watching the rest of the vid, it looks like you really manifested that thought 😂
Open the lockers you can hide in them 😎🤓
It released in late 2001, 23 yrs ago. Bought it a yr after (2002).
You look amazing playing my favourite game series
Nice choice to start MGS2 after the first one, you're gonna love Sons of Puberty, huh i mean Liberty😆
Jeej MGS 2 ❤. Fission Mailed😉
The tranq gun is works better if you aim for the head. But the rest of the body will take longer.
This game is phenomenal!
😂😂 oh Kojimbo looks like your tutorial boss worked as intended
Teaching peeps to use first-person

IMO this is the worst MGS game, the story is very complicated and kind of boring, but necessary for the great game that follows.
great....PHENOMENAL
best MGS game, more like*
😂
