Actually, diabetes MELLITUS gets diagnosed based on blood sugar (which is a common test), But for diabetes insipidus, the case is different, the blood sugar will come back normal discarding diabetes mellitus, this is why it's a tricky diagnosis. Because it's not the common variant, but the rare one
Why did NONE of those pediatricians think to test for diabetes....... With my mostly forgotten high school knowledge as soon as they mentioned excessive peeing that was my first thought........ It's literally in the name........
If it's diabetes insipidus then the glucose levels would be ok, that's negative for the common diabetes mellitus y'all know about. Insipidus is quite different
I know a guy who had a meningioma. He didn't get diagnosed until it was almost too late. He was only 17, and everyone around him thought he was a rebellious teenager, and probably on drugs. His parents were actually on the verge of sending him to a reform school, until his headaches and vision got really bad. He had to have massive surgery, and he has to take hormone shots for the rest of his life. At the time, no one was sure if he was going to be able to have kids or not. He has 2 adorable kids now.
For crying out loud... hallucinations, excruciating migraines, etc. And you're still too stubborn to even go to your doctor? What is wrong with people. Are you just not insured or what?
In some countries, most doctors refuse to listen or believe what you're saying. The last neurologist I saw told me that I was making my symptoms up and said I was addicted to codeine, which I can't even use as it makes me extremely sick and which I refuse to be prescribed with. Told me first, that it's an genetic issue then that I have an addiction to medication containing codeine, when I demanded that he actually listen to me and to even give me a broad spectrum drug test, to disprove his allegation. He laughed and refused to do it, said he's the medical professional not me. It's 2019 and I've still not been diagnosed. I don't know what to do anymore and my symptoms have only gotten worse. Sometimes the medical professional refuses to do tests, to look at your medical history, to speak with your GP, etc. I had an MRI showing small black spots on various areas of my brain, never given an explanation as to what they are or what it means.
@@rochelleclaassen9186 I know how hard it is to feel so hopeless, helpless & invalidated. But please don't give up, it's hard to trust people/doctors again but try visiting another doctor. You never know.. I hope you reach something & you will be okay..
Some people are like that, older men especially. If they've been tough and healthy their entire lives, they don't like to admit that as they age they may need to go to a doctor. My dad is the same. He got a twisted gut last year and pushed through the pain for days until finally it got so bad that he had to go to the hospital. And even then he drove himself rather than call an ambulance. Part of his gut died and had to be removed as a result and he very nearly ended with a colostomy. So yeah, I can understand why someone would think they can deal with whatever life throws at them because they always did up until now.
When my period stopped for a couple of years, My doctor thought I had a meningeoma too but my scans were clear. My period suddenly started again, we still don’t know why. I’m so sorry for this poor woman who just wanted to be a mother & I’m so glad it ended so well. Jerry lost his marriage because he didn’t value his relationship with his wife but apparently he values his eyesight. I’d have left him too because Unlike the other people in this show, Jerry was ASKING to die

poor lizz couldn't deal with the baby sadness feel sorry for her, the hallucinations and headache symptoms are worrying if folk have symptoms they shouldn't ignore them
The child, Joey, had blood tests done. When ever you get blood drawn and tested they automatically test blood sugar too. If those are within normal parameters in more than one testing medicals aromatically cross out diabetes as a possibility. If a patient urinates that much and drinks that much in one day because of high blood sugar levels he will have other symptoms too.
Just arthritis jeez old guy I’m 28 was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and so painful and makes me feel really Ill I can’t keep alot of food down and just keep vomiting alot
Same here! I'm 22 with osteoarthritis and people think that it's not that bad because I'm young, including older people with arthritis. It's difficult to explain that it feels as though my joints have been hit with a hammer or that I've vomited/ fainted from pain to someone who refuses to listen.
Maybe have your doctor check your electrolytes. I need to eat more salt than many would consider healthy, along with making sure I drink enough fluids due to issues with my autonomous nervous system, so when I don’t get enough of either, I can get really dizzy and almost pass out. If my body needs more salt, I tend to get cravings for McDonald’s food and other foods with hidden sodium, if I ignore those signals I tend to feel very unwell within some days. So listen to your body and have some labs done to be on the safe side.
Pioneers doctors are reealy d best as doctor but newly graduated doctor are lacking still in studying what alls others sicknesses occurs to a one persons

I know it wasn't his diagnosis, but excessive thirst and urination and no diabetes test before that specialist? that's ridiculous
That's what I thought immediately. I mean no doctor obviously but I would have though excessive thirst was an obvious red flag 🤷♀️
I'm 14 and the moment I had of thirst...I thought of diabetes
Same .... unbelievable some doctors!
US non-existent healthcare (also non-existent jurisdiction, social security, education etc. A joke of a country)

I did a little research about Joey Jordan. He had a kidney transplant around 2013 and is still going.
That's great news, I am happy for him. Thanks for the information. 😉
Thank you so much for the update on Joey Jordan, much appreciated. Those parents are amazing people.
This is why I came to the comments section. Glad he's going strong 💙
